June 4th, 1981. Ironically, I'm watching General Hospital. Because tomorrow, I and the rest of the world will learn that, miles away from my kitschy El Paso suburb, the city of Los Angeles was host to a new and terrifying disease. We're diagnosing it as pneumocystis pneumonia for the time being, but soon it will earn the name HIV/AIDS. And with it, a stigma that will draw enduring social and political lines.
Yes... & I actually know one of the UCLA doctors that treated & knew of at least 4 of the 5 patients who ended up at UCLA. The very first 5/ up until recently she knew the names of the first 5 documents cases. Patient (1) name was Michael thru the UCLA emergency Dept. , Patient 2 & 3 came from Sherman Oaks Medical Center, patient 4 was a african american man referred by a clinic in West LA/Beverly Hills, Patient # 5 was a Santa Monica lawyer who died of CMV & Pnuemocystis. Fascinating history.
_"Just think of what smoking a pack a day, every day, could do to your teeth!"_ Your toes? Well you've got 10 of them, what's wrong with having to amputate a few? That lady on the commercial is fine otherwise, and she's probably got wonderful teeth!

@@michaelglenn367 Imagine what the world would look like today if these men had somehow avoided HIV/AIDS. If it was just somehow never contracted.
