The absolute best thing you could do, is invite the guitar player in question to respond. Having been a guitar player in that era I know all of the trash talking that went on, most of it was good-natured ribbing or artificially inflated ego antics. I think the only fair thing to do would be invite whoever it is to answer if their intentions were playful, or to have the opportunity as an adult to apologize for something they did foolishly.

I once met met Nuno nBettencourt at a meet and greet , he turned up three hours after the appointed time , we were all queueing up outside in the freezing cold with no access to toilet for three hours as his management team wouldn’t let us wait in the venue even though the venue said it was ok. We paid 200.00 each. He is meant to be a nice guy but he must have been in a bad mood because this day he was acting a Diva , He was refusing more than one autograph per person so for example they couldn’t get a T-shirt and a CD signed at the same time. He was telling people to hurry up , I kindly asked him for a plectrum and he flicked one on the floor and didn’t make eye contact and looked pissed off . I came away feeling really flat . There are various pickups Dimarzio makes like your middle single coil - sized humbucker. From the sound that's a lot like a true single coil I assume that is a Cruiser or a Fast Track 1. You can check the dc resistance by selecting that pickup, turning all pots at full, putting a short cable in the output jack and touch the other end's contacts to a multimeter and see witch pickup fits the measurement from the Dimarzio website. The neck has allen polepieces and it's very articulate and mid-focused so you're probably right that's a PAF Pro and the bridge has heavy bass with screw/slug polepieces like the Tone Zone. Nice stories, too, and I liked how everybody looked at you at the store, ha, ha! If I was there I would go away without buying anything, why bother?

The trem was originally cosmo black (like the rest of the hardware on this), so this being a solid black Original Edge it must have been replaced at some point, I assume. That middle pickup looks like some sort of Hot Rail from DiMarzio, so it's something like a humbucker in single coil format.

You can certainly play . That guitar is beautiful and I especially like the pickup configurations . Most Ibanez guitars I've heard had this annoying tinnish overtone ( yeah I know that's not a word ) . They usually sound rather scratchy i.o.w. However this one sounds quite a bit better .

6:56 jip, the fretboard could use some Steel Wool 0000 🤭. This green and the yellow model are my favorite Steve Vai signatures. They look so much and have a good sound

Really unfortunate how childish some musicians can be. I'm glad it didn't dim your passion for the guitar, hell you're reminding me why I took it up years ago and why it's going nowhere out of my life anytime soon. Thanks for the great content Tom, always a pleasure to view :)

I have one I built with dimarzios and a floyd1000 . I played the hell out of it when it was finished but the truss rod needs adjusted so I haven't used it in quite a few years. Now I just use my old six screw and two bolt charvels. Can't deal with locking tremolos any more

I think that worn maple looks incredible in a different way. We can see brand new $3500 guitars that've never been played, but it's not often you see a guitar as worn as some of Jason Becker's, and for that reason it's worth something more to the person that can respect the part of the person's soul that gets worn into the instrument. If you wear an instrument in that far, then you and that instrument are intimate and connected in a unique way.

Hi Thomas. I’ve been a fan since Bad4Good.
I’m 51. I play too. I remember that benefit and GuitarFTPM covering it with that exact photo in the mag. We Love Jason too. I had a chance to meet Zakk in 2017 here on Long Island NY where I live after a show. He’s a good man.
That’s another great story Thomas. And HECK YES we want to hear who the A hole is and all the details.. hope you can tour NY some time and play. Would love to see you.
Anyway take care, good vid and tell us all about what happened in the next vid. 🤘🏻🎸
