That’s absolutely insane!! I have an all original 1966 Ford F-100 twin I beam pickup that I restored after it sat in a barn for 27 years, including the back taxes, insurance and registration it costed me $507.33 to get it legal 😂

I know the pain Dave, that's heartbreaking having to let that car go but fuck that VRT shit, A beautiful Honda s2000 popped up recently 6500 quid, and the VRT was 8k, I just don't understand how they expect that to be justifiable

The 180 is sick. The OEM yellow s15 is just 🙌. Vrt is horrendous in this kip
There was a chap recently on Irish radio who went up the north to buy a crew cab van after being told it would cost 70K here so went to up north bought a big standard van with no bells or whistles for 23k but his bill for the Irish plate comes to 33,000 +

I spent all this money on this one car to then be told that I need to spend another absurd amount of money on registration so instead of registering it I'm gonna spend that same amount of money to purchase, mod, and register another vehicle. Then trade the first vehicle for another one that can also be registered without an absurd amount of money. all in all spending the same thing you would still spend but tripling the fun!!!! That is car math and I'm here for it

VRT is a joke, tried to vrt a little Clio 182 that cost about 5-6 grand at most and they valued it at 9 grand so they where looking for about 4 grand vrt. Definitely wasn’t paying that much so the cars going back up north soon.

The vrt is mad prices lately a 95 gt turbo starlet is €6500 to vrt
i saw gt turbo for sale the other day for less than €6000
If its a 95 I'd sit on it until next year
There used to be a loophole regarding importing cars from the UK, where if you owned a vehicle in the UK with valid tax and MOT for more than 6 months , then you could import it here without import duties and vat . You still had to pay the VRT at a reduced rate though. Not sure if this is still the case or wheter you had to have supporting income tax returns in the UK 🤔
