    I think a real empath doesnt walk around town telling Everyone he/she is an empath! They are very private ppl and most of the time they have to figure out what beeing an empath means and how to deal with this beautiful but heavy and confusing gift... They help from the heart and not to charge 200 dollars!!! But thats Just my opinion 😬

      I disagree. Some empaths are healer. How can healers heal if they don’t talk about it? Accepting money for services is an exchange of energy just like paying for a meal at a restaurant. Your paying for the time and the all the energy that was put into having a dish handed to you. From the host to the server to the cook. Exchange of energy. If an empath constantly gives without receiving, they experience burn out. Then they can’t do their job of healing. And that’s why so many empaths have addictions and depression. They give all their energy to others and objects so they turn to a couple beers after work to chill out. Fuck man this comment thread is full of half ass woke people. Theres more perspectives than just yours.

    I'm an empath and these people on here are FAKES. True empaths do not seek other people out like this. Empaths try to be away from people and enjoy solitude. Some are more sensitive than others. Some say PTSD can have an impact on being an empath. Super happy people like the main guy in this video, makes us sick. We prefer the company of the elderly, animals and children (not in a perverted way). We enjoy their positive energies.
    How Vice portrayed empaths in this video is misleading. No wonder there are so many negative comments and dislikes.

Always been called anti-social, I don't dislike ALL people. I've just always wanted to be around certain kinds of people. Yea vice didn't do a very good job on this doc, should've been longer to explain certain aspects.

It doesn't work like that.. mine has been more of a curse then a gift for sure... feeling other people's shot is confusing, and when you grow up not knowing wtf is going on it makes you an outcast, and wierd. This happened to me. I thought i had ''two hearts'', one from my soulmate who happened to be ''evil'' , turned out she is a sociopath and completely destroyed me, used mind control to make me rip my eyelashes and eyebrows out, put me in hiding for well over a decade.
      Biggest part of my curse, I became an Empath through early child abuse and growing up with a ''clubbed thumb'', huge target on my back, had my head down a lot in high school and these sociopaths fed on me through lies and fucked my parents.
      They would suck my energy out till I turned pale, took my high school diploma away from me, my whole life.

      Mind control is real, to the point where they block your memories. It's not just mind control, but the hypnosis they have in their piercing/predatory eyes. They can't connect with people, as in like, care or love, so they control us. Control is their supply, losing control is their biggest fear.

    I was pretty triggered by this video, you dont have to be deep in meditation or do rock meditation bullshit. An empath is someone who was put through a lot of stress through their childhood and has opened another path to sensing how others feel that simple. You just know how a person is feeling which also opens up the world to what a person is thinking.

      To note I gained the power of an empath on christmas night, my sister was being beat by my 2nd step father and my mother didn't give two shits about it. I had a panic attack afterwards and walked 2 miles to go to my only friends house. I was 17 at the time but knew the difference between right and wrong. having to live with something called family when you feel nothing towards your relatives is something an empath may have. The start of panic attacks can be a trigger that you may start to feel other extreme emotions that are emitted from other human beings you don't even know.

      Bullsh*t. I've known at least a half dozen people who claimed to be empaths who can "feel" other peoples' emotions as if they're floating around a room, just as you claim, but not a single one was able to accurately describe how I was feeling at any given moment. Empathy is very real, but you either have to actually *speak* to a person to truly feel it, know them well enough to know how they're feeling without any words being spoken, or witness them engaged in an unmistakable display of emotion, such as laughing or crying.

    The people who are charging for "appointments" are using a technique called cold reading. The "empath" says unspecific things about the clients mentality or personality that apply to nearly everyone and the client gives the "empath" details about the statement, with these details the empath digs deeper until the client is satisfied. I recommend watching collage humors' *Adam Ruins Everything* episode about psychics alot of what is said applies to empaths.

As one myself, i cringed watching this. People wear the title almost as a badge of honor when in fact it’s nothing to want. It makes things that people do in their normal life, exhausting. It can lead to isolation, anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide if you do not know how to harness it properly. I do believe it would be a better world if everyone had this gift though

    Empaths don’t like groups. I would have believed it more if he had an online empath group. BTW my fellow empaths, I found wearing headphones when I go to the mall or shopping works like a charm. People don’t talk to you, and you have music to calm you down. I may get that one person that just HAS to talk and come hell or high water, they will tell me their life story some how.

      i had to get almost 60 years old to get to today, this very day, when i first came across the term and concept of 'empath'. ~mind blown~. this explains sooooo much. including but not limited to even the constant, lifelong phenomena of random people walking up to me and telling me the intimate details of their lives. yeah, this explains a lot.

    As an Empath myself, I was quite excited to see an almost 30 minute long video dedicated solely to Empaths. Paused 3 minutes in to check the comments because I was cringing so hard. Glad to see I'm not alone. This is not what being an Empath is about.
    Also, having empathy for others does not make you an Empath, the same way being able to predict someone's next move based on the most likely outcome does not make you a psychic. As primates, nearly everyone has the ability to feel empathy. Empaths feel it on a different level. We can sometimes be defined by our empathy. You may only be aware of your empathy when you are interacting with someone who is outputting a large amount of negative energy, where I am aware of it on a daily basis.
    It is no superpower, it is no magical ability, or supernatural phenomena. It is one of many neurological/biological differences that wires someone up to be more sensitive than the average person.

      Collector Tee omg yes yes yes , I was so happy when I saw this video and had to stopped two mins in , ugh I hate how everyone thinks that if you was empathetic you must be an empath. Being an empath is rare and our gift isn’t so much about feeling it’s knowing things that no one should know about a person and so much more . I knew I was an empath since youth before I even knew what is was called but having empathy for someone doesn’t make you an empath at all glad to see another one pointing this out

    Feeling others emotions is not anything you really want in your life. It’s difficult to shake off others negativity their anxiety all things negative are tough to get rid of. I’m in my 50s and I’ve been like this since my childhood and it’s been a load to carry at times. I have worked to learn how to separate myself from the negative vibes from others.

    Probably the most disgraceful piece of information I’ve ever watched. I am an empath myself and empaths aren’t as upbeat and full on as these characters in this video. I can tell by there eyes and body language from just watching this. Empaths are drained and mainly introvert due to the pressures and feelings they get by being around humans in turmoil on a daily basis.

      +A W That's funny you say you work the nightshift because that's what I always did before my current situation lol It's terrible the way people view it as weakness... I grew up in an abusive home, and my parents were constantly telling me "you are too in touch with your emotions", so for the longest time I believed it was a weakness too. Then someone told me that a person has to be strong to be emotionally honest. Most people hide their feelings, they bury them deep because it's too hard for them to face. And knowing we cannot hide from our own feelings and must also endure the hidden feelings of others, is absolute strength.

    1. Intuition
    2. Perception
    3. Internal Morality

    So many of these self-professed "empaths" come off as self-absorbed, tending toward narcissism and histrionics (like the redhead lady having a "panic attack" in front of the group to try and take attention away from the main guru). In my personal experience, the ones going on and on about how empathic they are on Instagram/Facebook don't realize they are posting about themselves constantly and I never see anything from them that shows genuine empathy for anyone except maybe their little pet dogs. The ones who become self-professed "life coaches" seem to be preoccupied with virtue-signaling and quite a bit of their own navel-gazing to figure out who they are but making a big, fake show out of it to garner validation. The "Self-love" meme is blasting past taking care of oneself and is becoming a societal detriment. Constant validation from social media is the gasoline on the fire. I worry about these people's ability to maintain meaningful relationships.

      As an empath there're things i can do and things i can't do:
      Things i can do:
      1. Understand the mental state of someone. ie, if he's happy, angry, sick or mentally diminished by observing his facial mood.
      2. I can sense when somebody is fucking with me. ie, lying to me or deceiving me in anyway. for this reason i can't have girlfriends for fear of breaking their heart with fake promises.
      3. I can tell lies. it's hard for me. i will feel the guilt of misleading a trusting soul.
      4. I am good at giving comfort when somebody needs it or going through rough time.
      5. I like adventure at best. iem i don't like small adventures.
      6. I have good instinct. ie, i could tell if that reporter had great penmanship. i can judge someone if he's good or bad person at first impression. i can feel things inside my stomach that'll tell me.
      Things i can't do:
      1. Tell someone what he ate or job is like the empaths in this video.
      2. Hide my anger or feelings when i see somebody being bullied or treated in negative way.
      3. Listen or watch TV because of bad news. nothing good come out TV, only more bad news. i stopped listening to radio in 2007 till now. why you might ask? because i can't help those people i see on TV and it makes depressed.
      4. I don't initiate conversation with my friends nor approach strangers, even if they seem happy and friendly, out fear fearing of causing them discomfort in anyway.
      5. I don't communicate with my family often, there's feeling inside me saying you just now them, you don't need to skype them or call them.
      6. It's hard for me to post stuff or my photos on social media to get likes. i stopped it when i saw my friends call me to give them likes or comment on their photos. i stopped doing it in 2011.
      7. My friends hate me for not hanging out with them in the excursions they do usually. i hate walking and wandering aimlessly on the street, it isn't not just my thing.
      8. I hate chatting on FB with dear friends via writing. i prefer by call him instead.
      9. I don't take pictures of me and i took it i don't post on social media, so nobody sees it except me.
      So there you have it, some of trait the empath traits that i have and people receive me differently.
      On final note: *Half of what the interviewed people said, i believe it's exaggeration and complete BS. like claiming they could sense somebody might be in the room or telling what somebody had ate without lack of visual clues*

    Opening yourself is simple - all people are born open, born as love but as we grow up thru the world we build beliefs and shut ourselves down... then we become anxious and depressed. You can awaken yourself by breaking free of all daily thought loops and routines, go camping alone, no phone and meditate on belief until you awaken. Theres no such thing as empath as such because we are all capable of being empathic. There is no seperation. We are one. We can connect with any part of ourselves by intention and thought.

Thats the real conspiracy behind all this and the parents and teachers just copy because they have no knowledge of connection to the true/higher self anymore.

It’s not a super power. It does come in handy sometimes but mostly it just makes me anxious. We don’t think we’re better than anyone and when you do read someone’s energy you can just have a casual chat about it you don’t have to get all weird about it. It is fun to freak people out with it btw that’s the best part.

      Altruism, compassion, is not the same as super-empathy. Super-empaths can be either great, or bad to the bone. It's not a moral superiority thing. It's physiological. Not telepaths. Not religious. It's something you learn, and some of it is due to good friends and family, some, have had severe trauma that triggered a change.
      But... yeah, religion profits off of people like that, so that tracks. Actually they target the emotionally vulnerable. "Just had a child." "Just lost a loved one." "Going through hard times." It's a sales pitch, that the younger people who proselytize are inculcated with, the idea that they're doing something good, while in reality, they're pulling people into something where they have to pay 10% of their income *tithe* tenth, or they're going to hell. Sorry, sorry. I have issues.

They speak, I feel. & it's not really the words they use. It's their tone. Their emotion. So even if someone is lying I can feel the deception.

    *Spirituality* *does* *indeed* *have* *a* *price* , but no longer does it require silent retreats, self-reflection, or simply being a good person. It is for sale, and there are plenty of people willing to sell you their brand.
    Billions of dollars are spent where spirituality meets narcissism. In a culture in which people are more concerned with being brands than humans, such a noxious cocktail was inevitable. We’re living on our own Island of Misfit Toys: if you tell everyone they’re broken, they’ll buy into it.
    As a solution, these Insta-lebrities offer easy-to-digest solutions to life’s pressing problems (the universe loves you!). And they can be humble, too: Sure, these leggings might not fix you, but at least you’ll look good trying.
    America's spiritual capitalism has subverted such messaging. Freedom isn’t earned. It’s purchased. Clothing isn’t for warmth, it’s for chakra alignment. In a nation of plenty more is never enough. The capitalists have won, selling spirituality as shamelessly as whatever other product they can produce. Sadly, the people who should be fighting are nothing more than its over-sugared servants, desperately fighting for their fifteen seconds of Insta-fame.

    I am an empath and for years I have spent my life diagnosed with every type of mental disorder. I knew deep down that I didn’t need medicine but as a child, having medication forced upon me, I had no choice. I ran away, attempted suicide and abused drugs trying to block out continuous pain. I now know myself but I still struggle with knowing my emotions versus someone else’s. I can even feel people’s physical pain. I can’t go to movies, grocery shop, go to malls, etc. Children crying are the hardest for me and I find myself seeking out these children in stores and confronting parents or guardians. Which is not a good idea, duh 🙄. What helps me is running early in the morning, being in nature, isolating myself, visualization techniques, eating mostly plants 🌱 and keeping myself first. I also make sure to protect myself at all times but sometimes I forget and end up depressed, anxious and totally confused for days. People think I’m rude because I choose to isolate myself and never get into the “normal” chit chat that everyone else does. I wear sunglasses indoors and always have my headphones around my neck... just in case. I find that I will also dissociate when talking to some people. I also get images of people’s lives in my mind. These visions, or whatever,
    are usually pretty traumatic and painful. It feels like a curse and sometimes loose my sense of identity, changing the way I speak, behave and dress. I have chose to work with people who have gone through severe trauma, like myself, to help them begin to recover. I do this by connecting with them through my life story and giving them hope, reassuring them that they are beautiful, sensitive souls and helping them develop their own coping skills. I started out volunteering first and then was offered a job. Sometimes all the pain, sadness, anger, fear, confusion, etc are too much and I have to take a few days off or do paperwork in my office. My coworkers don’t understand why I must isolate or choose to stay back when there is a party but it is severely important that I live for me. I also choose not to touch, hug or handhold because it takes longer for me to get back to myself. Yes, I have a gift, I can connect with people on a deep emotional level and help share what I have learned to keep myself healthy. On the other hand, this gift is more often a curse for me, as I feel so much emotional, mental and physical pain from others constantly. I can’t turn it off and I would never voluntarily “read” someone like some sort of psychic. I do agree, I love children, animals and being around the elderly. My jobs have included being a provider, stay at home mom (I’m still a Mom but now work), florist, Kindergarten Teachers Assistant and I am now a Peer Support Specialist. Many Blessings Everyone.

I am now 52 & have been diagnosed multiple mental illnesses & take 6 different psych meds(which do not work, except the Cymbalta).
      I am now wondering if ALOT of my problem/s aren't directly related to being a HSP/empath. I have found that I prefer being alone, crowds cause me GREAT anxiety, I feel a greater bond with animals than with people, I can tell what type of a person I'm dealing with in the first couple minutes of conversation with them, to go with my first thought/choice, & to ALWAYS trust my gut instincts!

    There is something real to this subject - I know, because I am a person who can feel "atmospheres" of other peoples emotions/moods to an honestly crippling degree. Some people in the comments were saying this merely comes from observation of other people's emotions, but that is not true. I don't have to see a person, to feel what they are putting off. An example of that would be when I moved into a renovated barn that was shared between my husband and I in one half, and a pair of twins in the other half. From the moment I moved in I was hit with a crippling level of depression, and hopelessness, I even had suicidal thoughts. There was this darkness I couldn't escape from and I had no idea why it was happening. This went on for months. Then one day this dark horrible feeling lifted, for no apparent reason. A couple weeks later, I spoke to the one twin I was actually acquainted with and he told me that his brother had recently moved out and gone to stay in a mental hospital because he was depressed and suicidal. I had never met the depressed twin and I had no idea he had been suffering through this crippling depression the whole time I was living there... his brother never spoke about him before. But the moment he was gone, the clouds lifted. Other peoples feelings drain me, and oppress me, and affect me to a ridiculous degree. It's not fun, or cool, and it actually really sucks. It's very difficult to be around people for any length of time, and being in public, and being in crowds is almost impossible. But, it does help me to invoke and express a deep level of feeling through my music. That's the one blessing about it.
    But as for this video, the way that these supposed "empaths" are capitalizing on this is really gross... not to mention the fact that they come across as totally disingenuous and phony. All the new-age nonsense really annoys me. Overall, this video is abhorrent, and obnoxious as hell.

    I grew up very confused of my emotions. Because they were always changing. I remember not being able to tell my emotions apart too. The only time I’d have peace is being alone or with animals, away from external emotional influences . It takes a long time to be able to understand what you or others are feeling because it clashes ( your own emotions vs someone else’s). It’s not a super power because people often don’t listen to you when you try to help too. This video is like a gentrified version of a psychic .

    This is such bullshit... Being an empath is a real thing but not like this. Empathy is a spectrum. You have narcissists at one end and empaths at the other. There's actual science behind this. I happen to be empathic and it is torture; It is not fun at all. I can hardly decipher which emotions are my own or why I'm feeling something that doesn't make sense at that moment. I'm trying to learn how to build up a wall. There is definitely some good things about it but, for me, right now it mostly just hurts. It can definitely be used to help people and I love helping people. It gives me more joy than anything else in the world. If you are truly empathic, you would feel way too guilty about charging people money.

    • @erika8349
      @erika8349 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t need to build a wall around yourself, but learn to control these emotions you’re feeling from others. If it’s hard, I suggest seeking spiritual or therapeutic guidance to help release the things burdening your heart and mind, because taking on other people’s emotions or troubles is very draining and exhausting. Personally, I’m Christian so I do a lot of praying, Bible reading, and communicating with God to give me strength, clarity, and peace. A non-religious option would be speaking to a therapist or counselor, or seeking another empath like yourself. I totally understand wanting to help people, but don’t forget to help yourself in the process :)

    I know some people who claim to be an empath, who are more self-absorbed than empathetic. It's all about how they feel out of concern for themselves, not out of empathy for anyone else.
    I've met one person who I would consider to be a true empath. For example, her friend's mother died and she was deeply saddened by this. She cried out of concern for her friend. She felt the same grief her friend was feeling. Yet this was a person she met only a month earlier, so not an old close friend, and she did not know her friend's mom who lived a continent away.

    I've always been an empath. I prefer being alone, very introverted, very easily overwhelmed by bright lights, sounds, smells, etc. I can pick up emotions from others, it feels very draining to me. I require lots of down time alone, so I can gather my thoughts, and reground myself.

    Megan had a panic attack because she picked up on the load of shit from the narcissist fraud that was sitting right next to her. He screamed bad energy from the teaser at the start of the video. She's an empath and he's a charlatan taking advantage of one. True satisfaction lies in absorbing the positive vibes from releasing pent-up negativity. A real empath would feel terrible for taking money for listening to someone express their feelings.

    • @rosabscura
      @rosabscura 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. Empathic nature is not always so cut and dry. I know there’s def empaths out there who can tone down others emotions and tone up their own so that they can more easily take advantage of others. Being an empath doesn’t automatically make you a good person. But also the man in this video is probably not an empath but a narcissist lol it’s also possible to be both 🤷🏾‍♀️

    Emotions are suppressed so much by society and parenting (because of fear and lack of understanding) that people think basic human emotions that they are supposed to have are something special.
    If you don’t have empathy you are a psychopath
    There are people who are another level. It’s unspoken. Intuitive. That’s a real “empath”. And it’s a rough existence.

  • @liammcgarry7650

    dude on skype, he didn't know that the producer had eaten an egg nan roll, listen to what he says, he says he can hear more than one person in the room, which he all ready knows (as he knows he is being filmed on a documentary) and then he says "someone is more dense than others because of what they eat, like slow dense food, like pitta." then Hannah fills in the rest of the info. This is a technique called cold reading where one says suggestive but vague things to insight a response from the person (participant, audience, chump) to make it seem like they have supernatural or empathic powers. This dude is a strait up charlatan.

      @juggernautnation369 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No I'm not brainwashed I can Astral Project myself so Nothing You say is going to be able to change My experiences. What I experience as Astral Projection is very Real, just because You can't do it or don't believe in it doesn't make it not exist. I understand the need to be skeptical which is a healthy rational thing to do however being skeptical just because something is jeapordizing a belief system you hold on to doesn't make the ability go away. You can say Astral Projection isn't real until your blue in the face its not going to stop people from Astral Projecting it would only be you who is missing out. Basically your wasting your time with me bro you Can Not argue to change my mind as my basis for believing in Astral Projection is rooted in the fact that I Astral Project no argument is going to magically make my experiences go away.

    • @randomsheep3753
      @randomsheep3753 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm an avid astral projector myself too, actually. Been one ever since I discovered lucid dreaming back in 2012 (don't believe in its potential of remote viewing though). The mind reading on the other hand is an obvious sham whether Ryan believes it to be or not. I subscribed to him during the early stages of his channel but left when it started to go off the rails. Now he has this weird sort of cult following and it really bothers me as a somewhat spiritual individual who can tell clear as day when and where he isn't bullshitting.

    • @juggernautnation369
      @juggernautnation369 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's cool you can astral project too its rare to find someone else who can. I've personally had really weird experiences in a similar vein to telepathy by being connected to Source Consciousness before. Basically I was undergoing an awakening experience during my early 20's where my 3rd eye and crown chakra opened up and my consciousness first rose to my higher self then rose again to merge with Source which is when shit got really weird lol Ryan could be full of shit on mind reading but the way he explains it is unusually similar to my experiences of when shit got wierded out. However, I can tell he's still in his Ego so that wouldn't make sense for him to be able to read minds the only way to do so is through a connection to Source Consciousness to be One with All that is, hence realizing that you are the individual that you are mind reading because we are all drops of water in the same ocean we also are the ocean and the ocean is consciousness.

I agree with this, I have immense guilt over charging for any type of services, but we need to pay our bills too.

    I have a personality disorder and I’ve always tried to get help, since my early 20s, I fought so hard and paid so much money and the I found the ‘empath’ therpaists to be cold and manipulative, they were happy to take my money but they’d always shut down on me and treat me badly, they’re not the decent people they make themselves out to be

    • @justsomebloke6784

      I have borderline personality disorder, and as a result, body language and verbal cues around me are like a horrible noise that I can't stand. The reason for being so sensitive to environment is having spent my entire life trying to work out what other people want in order to maintain relationships and hold down jobs. This does not make me an empath.
      I get really annoyed with these happy-clappy types that always adopt that 'certain' tone of voice : narcissistic charlatans are not going to save the world.
