My sister once punched me in her sleep. She sat up, turned to me with a blank expression, punched me, and lay down again. I think beating me up has become an instinctive activityfor her.
I'm 16. I had a sleepwalking episode where I literally walked out of my home and crouched near the street, cowering. My mom came outside a few moments later screaming like crazy. She said I was sleep talking, telling myself "There's a bomb in the house, there's a bomb in the house. Get out!" To this day, my dad teases me about it so much. Every time I come home he says "We have a code yellow." -.- My mom said it was genetic, since she also sleepwalks. :P
Half of it similar to me When I was a kid I did the same like I walked out of my home. When I about to open the gate my mother stopped me. But I really wish to know what I was up to... 😅
Same here. Except it only runs with the girls in my family my mom sleep booked my grandma did as well last night I walked up to my mom and said. Where is my story you said one more story and you never came back so she told me today and I was like what?
conan boyle I get nightmares of it everyday. Imagine a fucking creepy white eyed malformed dude who comes crawling on you and you can do nothing about it. Like it?
When I was 12, I literally was sleepwalking EVERY night. This one night there was a thunderstorm, I was sleepwalking and I woke my mom up standing over her and apparently I was mumbling "bury the witch" and "quickly before she wakes up" I apparently then opened my eyes wide at the exact same time lightning and thunder crashed. Really freaky, but my mom put me back to bed. The next morning I woke up in the middle of the woods in my underwear. I was lying in a small hole that I dug up with my hands. I was mortified I thought I was kidnapped.
I used to sleep walk when I was younger, I would change my clothes, I would wake up in different clothes, inside out and backwards. The most embarrassing moment was when I did this at a friend's house and her Dad caught me sleepwalking in my underwear.
Shawnie Race i always woke up with no pants on or underwear, ya lucky u had underwear on at lest, more embarrassing being seen with no underwear on lol.
I'm a chronic sleepwalker myself and I had a rather funny sleepwalking incident a few years ago. I was at a grocery store with my uncle and cousin, and as I was waiting in line, my eyes started burning. So I wiped them and then I decided to rest them for a bit so it wouldn't look like I had been crying. About 5 seconds later, I felt overwhelmingly dizzy and I had to lean on something, and then I ended up slowly crouching down to one knee and I sorta sat down while leaning against the snack shelf, and I guess I either passed out or blacked out from the dizziness while sitting there. (I guess the person in front of me didn't notice, and my uncle and cousin were waiting in a different line) I must've fallen into a deep sleep fast because I couldn't have been out for more than a minute or two before the sleepwalking started. The next thing I can remember is that I had just walked out the door and was walking toward my uncle and cousin who were waiting for me in the parking lot. For some reason, I thought we were at Wal-Mart, but we were actually at Food Lion. My uncle asked me if I made a new friend in there, and I had no idea what he was talking about. At this point, I still wasn't fully aware of what was going on and it took me a couple of minutes to fully wake up. Anyway, long story short, according to my uncle and cousin, I was in there talking to the lady cashier for quite a while and I had no memory of it. I didn't even remember paying for any of the stuff I had in my cart. I guess sleepwalkers really can do complex things. I still wonder to this day what all I said to her. For all I know, I was probably talking nonsense the whole time lol
My mom told me that while she was in college, her roommate got up and set the table in her sleep. I've never sleep-walked, but when I was in college I freaked out my roommate by sitting up in bed and screaming in my sleep. I guess freaking out college roommates must run in the family.
Yes the other night I woke up screaming because I had a nightmare that a cat was on top of me and I couldn't move. I scared my sister. Just last night I think I cought my self sleep walking. Because I woke up in the middle of the night and I was sitting up eating an gronola bar that I wasn't supposed to be eating because I'm vegan. I'm also having trouble with memory in day to day activity. So I could have like Alzheimer's or something, I told my mother about my sleep walking, and memory problems I don't think she would willing to take me to the doctor because she wants to self medicate me.
One time i was sleeping on the floor then my mom told me to go to bed instead i got up went to the door opened it went outside and layed down on the ground. But boy did i wake up when i felt her slap me. XD
I was a sleep walker too but it stopped when I got into my teens. Apparently one time I ran into my parents room and started screaming about ants when I was like 14....and I have no memory of this. I still sleep talk pretty much every night and it pisses off whoever is sharing a bed with me. I really wish I could remember what I do or say just to know but it tends to be gibberish.
Story time: I've slept walked a good 3-4 times before this experience but this was my weirdest and most recent. I have to explain this first tho, When I wake up for school I get my hair straightener, brush, and laptop and then i take it into my old brothers room (he had the best mirror). I woke up one night sitting on the floor in my brothers bedroom listening to tyler, the creator and with my hair straightener on. I was really confused because I just woke up like this! I looked at the time on my laptop and it was 12 am on the dot. I was confused, I unplugged the straightener and shut down my laptop went back into my room. I wake up again in my brothers room but a different song is on and it was 3 am on the dot exactly. I did this several more times just repeating and repeating. I went back to bed and woke up to my alarm at the right time, but I had bruises all over me and cuts! Last night I woke up standing up out of my bed just standing. I had no idea how long I've been there but my legs hurt the rest of the day. I hope I don't do it again but in you guys no how to stop it I'd love to know how! if this doesn't blow up I swear i typed all of this more nothing!
I feel scared of sleepwalking from what I have done before. The last time I sleepwalked, I ran into my moms room screaming, and slammed my head into a pillow crying. (My mom told me this, it was about a month ago, and I am currently 13). She asked what was happening, and I just wouldn't respond, then about 10 minutes later, I sprinted out of her room crying. I have no idea what happened there.
Flight Jamaa Yeah it's creepy because the one time I sleep walked my friend took a video of me and I kept spinning around and it really creeped me out as well as my friend.
Yes! I slept walked as a child but I was conscious on a few occasions. One time I walked over to the table a picked up a crayon box and gave it to my mother and when she wasn't satisfied when I gave it to her, I woke up. I specifically gave her the crayon box to make her happy (i don't know why) but when she didn't smile something about her expression woke me up. Another time I asked my dad to take my arms off as I proceeded to lift my arms over my head (I don't remember doing this but my family told me as they witnessed it). I also remember being very emotional while sleepwalking. One time I woke up crying and asked my mom to "take me home. I want to go home" and I woke up crying and I was confused by myself because I remember asking her to take me home but I was already at home. I have really vivid memories of sleepwalking even though that was 13 years ago. I don't anymore but I still continue to phase in and out of dreaming and being awake. Most of my dreams happen in my room where I'm sleeping because I open my eyes when I dream.
I have had different episodes of sleepwalking during my childhood and part of my adulthood. Most of them happen in my parents house and they told me it involves walking to our front yard, looking as if something/someone knocked the door or rang the bell and then head back to the bed. They also said every now and then they could hear me mumbling while asleep (once a girlfriend told me it was hilarious because it made no sense what I said). So I'm getting a little worried about the neurological consecuence behind this things but hopefully its just stress or something.
Have you ever walked in your sleep? Somnambulism isn't as rare as you might think. Reddick Allen as he explores the facts and fiction about sleepwalking, from its many possible causes to whether you can safely wake up a somnambulist mid-stroll.
I was a sleepwalker as a kid; according to my parents, I ran up and down the stairs FULL SPEED, and on several occassions, I also picked up books and friggin TRIED TO READ while fully asleep 😂. Funnily enough, my parentd were so freaked out, they literally thought I was POSSESSED. They even called the excorcist to pray over me lol. After that, I developed a huge anxiety about falling asleep, because I was worried that the devil could take over me...looking back I wish they weren't too superstitious
As a kid apparently i would talk in my sleep and at some point i looked like as if i was going to fall down the stairs until my cousin guided me back to bed
I used to sleep walk A LOT as a child, but just recently with in the last year I have been caught sleepwalking twice and its kind of concerning.. the two most recent episodes: 1st (last year) I has just changed rooms with my sister and randomly in the middle of the night I got up from my bed and walked to hers.. the 2nd episode (last night and reason why I'm researching this today) I slept walked into my bathroom and tripped on something, awaking my step mom who said I then got up and walked around the house holding my shoulder saying "it hurts" over and over. THIS was a very concerning one because I had obviously hurt myself in my sleep... sleep walking is a lot more intense then people think, I just cant believe that happened and I didn't wake up.
one time i slept walked to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. my husband said he had to help walk me back to bed. i didnt know this until my husband told me next day also yesterday my husband told me when i was sleeping i sat up and had my eyes wide open looking round the room plus my mouth was wide open. then i lay back down sleeping. its bit freaky when my husband tells me all this. he said it scares him when he sees it
I now permanently sleep on the sofa downstairs in the lounge as I woke up twice hanging out my upper bedroom window !!!! The cold air on my face woke me up!!Lucky to be alive. True story.
I've been sleepwalking for the past few years, but when I do, I tend to be very violent and aggressive during them. They last for about 10-20 minutes in average, and happen quite often. My parents ended up putting a lock on a lot of the doors because I keep breaking and hurting things, whoops.. I tend to have quite "disturbing" dreams (well, most people I know would consider them disturbing, but I quite like them,) so that ain't very good
I do a thing in my sleep buts it’s not sleepwalking. I stay in bed while doing it. My dad had told that when I’m sleeping sometimes I will kick in my sleep which is actually me running in my dream. My sister told me one time I grabbed my pillow and started kicking. The dream was of me running to get Dino toys before a place exploded. I’m guessing that was the part where I picked one up and started running.
I wish there was more information on it. I've been told I've had full on conversations with someone and I was "awake" but when I wake up later I don't remember having a conversation at all with anyone at all. Matter a fact I only remember what I was doing leading to falling asleep then I just wake up I don't remember anything that happens between the hours I was asleep, but family members told me that they had conversations with me that they woke me up looked at them while talking to them. I know I've had times where I sleep walked to the kitchen grabbed a plate of food, started eating it, dropped the plate, and head straight back to bed to sleep. When I wake up I don't remember doing any of that stuff.
I was sleepwalking and I could remember the dream, me screaming, sitting, running. And my parents said that's what I did while my eyes were completely closed. I was acting out my dream
Joseph M. I did the sleep study, gonna make a video about it soon. But anyway I slept really poorly because of all the equipment attached to me. I just went for my results couple days ago and everything was normal, my sleep pattern was just slightly atypical , onmly 1 episode of Rem and often very little transitioning, like almosty from awake to deep sleep in a very short time or from deep sleep immediatly to awake. She said its probably triggered by stress and when I have stress I should find something to cope with it
I had a hard time believing I was sleep walking I thought I was having vivid weird dreams but then started noticing things I'd done in my sleep an knew it was real
I had a sleepwalk today for the first time, I was sleeping on the bed and somehow I found my self on the couch, it was creepy af😂 I was so exhausted and kinda sick before sleeping
I only slept walked once in my life, and this is nothing compared to other’s stories, but onetime me and my mom were at a hotel and I remember it, I was half asleep, I could see but not all the way, and I remember getting up and walking outside the hotel room. I closed the hotel room door and went to the room next to us, and I almost knocked on the door, but at the last second I REMEMBER thinking, “wait what am I doing?” And I woke up a little more. I went back to my room but the door was locked so I started knocking on the door. My mom opened it and I saw the look of terror on her face as she saw me standing outside of the room. After that, she always piled stuff against the door so if I ever did it again, she would hear me trying to get out. The really weird thing about this was I felt half asleep. I could see and I remember this all happening, it’s really weird. The next day I sort of remembered a dream I had where my mom was in the room next to me so I think that’s what happened Another time (this one is about me talking in my sleep) there was a thunderstorm and little kid me was scared of thunderstorms, so I went downstairs and slept in my parent’s room. Apparently I sat up in the bed in the middle of the night, and stared straight into the corner and said, “[cousin’s name], give me the ball” and held my hand out. My mom said “Uh no [my name] I have the ball” and I said “oh” and laid back down and went to sleep.
Actually...you may be able to remember what happened and you may act out your dream while sleep walking.Just like a regular dream, u may remember bits and pieces. I used to do it quite frequently as a child. One time I left our apt and walked down the stairs and walked a few buildings down and up the stairs to a friend’s apt. I knocked on her door and since they weren’t opening I started knocking louder and louder (it was about 1am). Finally, her mom answered the door and asked me wht I was doing there. That’s when I woke up and without saying a word I ran back home. As I was getting hm, my mom was coming down the stairs in panic, about to call the cops thinking I had been kidnapped. I do remember that I actually went to my friend’s house cos I thought she had the key to get back into my apt. So basically, I was acting out my dream. I even remember headlights of a car as I was walking thru the parking lot.
The brain is an amazing but weird organ haha! I once remember my mom waking me up for dinner ( it was burgers and fries) and i remember in a daze taking the fries from the thing (cardboard?) and throwing it then eating the fries from the ground ,my mom looked at me but said nothing and my siblings were too sleepy to care Other story was in the first time I sleepwalked : So I woke up and ate breakfast with my brother and mom when my brother says suddenly “do u remember last night?” And in confusion I say “no..?” And he told me the story last night were (when I was in the middle of taking care of my siblings since my mom is out) I sleepwalked, well, it was when she came back from the trip when I ran up to her and greeted her and she was kinda mad but once she saw that I was not “awake” she laughed and told me to just go to bed fast before she sees me and gets angry, so I literally ran to my bedroom, hit my arm / shoulder on the cabinet next to the bed and fell asleep... no wonder I had that pain on my arm when I woke up 😀😭
I sleepwalked to by two local bars last week (same night). It was sparked by a youth trauma of finding a guy breaking into my house who must of been high because he didn't know what he was doing. Sleepwalking usually is repeating usual behaviours. When someone is out they are out and don't try to wake them unless they are a danger to themselves or others.
what about being aware that your sleep walking and at the same time not aware? while dreaming all at the same time??? and its the same re-occurring dream I have.....I sleepwalk while im aware of it and at the same time I am unaware and tuned into the dream I am having (which is always the same dream/nightmare of Existence beyond earth and space ending) while meantime I am sweating and crying turning on all the lights in the house. and I remember this all....(this has happened to me 3 times in my life...the exact same dream that I can explain in 100% detail..I have no idea what this is
Sleepwalking is also connected to stress, once I had to get up very early, couldn't sleep and I was tensed about not hearing my alarm. My husband saw me get up after the alarm, sit on the bed for a while with my eyes open to then go to the bathroom and back to bed. I have no recollection and did not woke at time. Even years ago went outside in a different country to then come back to my room. I was staying in the middle of nowhere and my roommate found me very strange after that. I went bare foot into the wilderness where there were scorpions etc and I woke up the next morning with my sheets stained with dirt......... She did not even went after me. Why would someone sane without replying or saying anything go outside alone in the middle of the night without any slippers or shoes. Luckily there was no scratch on me.
I have never slept walked and it's so absurd and bizzare to me. Like HOW?! You are legit walking and you are sleeping at the same time!? The human body is so mysterious
One time I woke up during the night, unable to find my blanket. Turn on the lights and its across the room on an old foosball table. I was also told I sleepwalked once at my grandparents house, apparently I walked in circles around the kitchen table then walked back to bed.
Same my stepdad said he heard me go downstairs really slowly and he said " um are you ok " because it was like 3:00 morning and apparently I stopped for a second and went back upstairs and went back to bed my stepdad was like ummmmm???? Ok
The weird part was i had a dream I was going downstairs and heard my stepdad say " Bryan are you ok " and freaked out and went back to my bed and flipped off my enemy out my window and the crazy part was that was my dream and apparently I slept walk downstairs and went back up
I've been sleepwalking since I was 10, I'm 19 now, so about 9 years of it. But for the past 3 years I have noticed, that I usually wake up during sleep walking and it mostly happens if I'm under a lot of stress. For example if I have a lot of things to think about like school or emotional stress. Being sick is also something that causes it for me.
I’m simply watching this video because I just had one of my first experience with this and I’m afraid to go back to sleep. I literally just went into the bathroom and starting taking a shower. It’s not even tomorrow, it’s like 10:50. I woke up in the middle of it!
Whenever I don't sleep in my bed I scream and sleepwalk back too my bed. Once I slept over my friends house and I walked into his room and went under the bed and slept
I once was sleepwalking and I went out the house door and their was I magior highway I was about to walk in to the highway and my mom just caught me in time thank you mom!👇
A few nights ago I actually did wake up to some sleep walking. And I was actually dreaming about spilling rice by my bed so I got out the bed to pick it up, moved my very heavy side table only to wake up digging under my bed to pick up the “rice” lol. Sleep walking in dreams is still possible
Well I actually freaked out some schoolmates as well as we were on a trip to Berlin and I was in bed. And then I sat up, started laughing, layed down. Sat up again, started laughing again and layed down. I am quite scared now because I don't remember anything. One classmate of me fled out of the room, she told me all this xD
My mom recently just randomly walked out and said someone came out of her room, carrying her water bottle, kept repeating it when my sister asked her wtf she was talking about, and then went back to bed. Honestly was so scared because I didn’t realize she was sleepwalking at first
One time i sleepwalked and did an entire puzzle (1000 pieces) and it took like 40 minutes, I didn't remember anything even though I was sleepwalking for soooo long.
Yup, as a kid I once walked right out the door on a snowy night and was half awake crying and slapping on the door when mom found me. Another tome there was a funny incident where I apparently made a beeping noise while I backed out / rolled out of bed. It freaks me out that having done this as a child might mean I am more prone to Alzheimer's (like my gramy ) than others. Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate these videos.
Oh man I got some crazy sleep walking stories. So far in my life I broke 2 doors. The worse I did was rip sheet rock off my wall including ripping half the lamination off my door. I was having a nightmare while sleeping. I've also walked outside naked and talked to someone. Eaten more things than I can count and broken many many things
I don't think so, I' think that only gamma rays and x-rays are harmful not microwaves. Well microwaves are harmful if they get close to you. (Not the appliance its what the appliance uses) If you don't no microwaves make the molecules in the food to move a high speeds causing friction and creating heat. If the microwaves hit your body your molecules will then heat up and burn. The door on the microwave protects us though, so no need to be scared.
When i was a kid I was walking on the window on the 7th floor and speaking. Neighbor heard me and called my parents to rescue me, i dont have an idea, i have no memory of that. Sadly, i sleepwalk today too, but very rare - relaxing stuff like opening front door and welcoming people or cleaning my shoes with toothbrush and leaving them in the fridge, having conversation with my roommate and remembering nothing..
I have sleepwalked a couple of times recently at the age of 48 and never did it before. I woke up in the shower in the middle of washing myself and had no memory of getting from my bed to my shower. It was hours before my alarm was set to go off. The only thing that happened when I was a kid was that my mother came in my room very early one morning and I wasn't very awake - she had a conversation with me that I don't even remember.
So I've been told i have slept walked once. I went to brush my teeth and when my brother woke me up i really wondered how i got there without waking myself up. My sister also slept walked once when she went to pee in the bin, wooow. My grandad sleep talks and it scares me, loool
I'm 36 and have been a sleepwalker/talker my whole life. Im wondering if any other sleepwalkers ever have this happen, not ALL times but sometimes when I sleep walk its almost as if I'm kinda sorta half awake, it's like I dont know what im doing at the time but then halfway through or sometimes at the end of whatever it is I'm doing I kinda sorta wake up and still kinda sorta remember what it was I was doing in my sleep. It's all really hard to explain exactly but it's like half of me is awake and half of me is asleep lol. Comment if you've had this happen while sleep walking, or am I just a weird sleep Walker lol.
I started when I was 17 yr old, because of a traumatic episode in my life, and I occasionally still do it, especially when something stressful is happening to me. And yes, I still remember what I was doing while sleepwalking.
I just found out I sleepwalk, Last night I got up and turned on the shower and went back to bed. My housemate lost his shit this morning because the shower was running all night. Not sure what to do about this.
Hey BrainStuff - HowStuffWorks ! :) I've been sleepwalking all my life. Im a 16 year old boy (tomorrow i'll be 17) and im curious if im going to have to live With sleepwalking the rest of my life. I don't know if I sleepwalk every night, but I do sometimes. I've done some wierd stuff while sleepwalking. like trowing a saw and some Nails at my Brother.. (8 years ago) and i've just recently I broke a lamp in my room. sometimes i am 40% awake while sleepwalking. I am like a spectator while it is happening. And i actually while doing this act out what i am dreaming. one time i dreamt that it was a door behind a shelf, so I pushed it away to ''get to the door'' (7 years ago). :S I know it sounds very violent, but it doesn't happen often. i usually just talk and walk in my sleep There is no Medical Professional in my town. (i live in Norway in a smal village With 6K People) Thanks for Reading :) (sorry about my English) -Ma9nu22 :)
Thanks for writing us! That sounds very frustrating, especially since you can't find a doctor to talk to. Hopefully your friends and family are understanding and supportive. Have you ever seen the movie "Sleepwalk With Me?" It's about a real-life stand up comedian named Mike Birbiglia who sleepwalks so much he has to strap himself down at night. You might want to watch it, at least for catharsis!
+ma9nu22 Try to get a sleep study done. Most cities with population over 60 to 70 thousand will have department at local hospital. I've been sleepwalking for as far back as I can remember (I'm in my forties now). It does become a little less frequent with age but it is still quite disturbing to awake out in the garage in my underwear in the dead of winter. Try not to eat to close to bedtime and stay away from foods with MSG's. In my experience ingesting food containing that preservative tends to worsen weird dreams and sleepwalking. Good luck.
My Dr suggested that. I did so,,,, I was able to undo it (first try with a string on my wrist in triple knots as tight as I could,,,, next night with a chain (light) and a paddle lock STILL undid it. THAN with the same chain and a combination lock,,, could STILL undo it. LOL I don't try these things any more.
Its really quite horrific when you suffer from this condition. People will tell you to "knock it off" and it hurts because there isnt a thing in the world you can do about it. If you guys have any kindness in your heart, try to gently wake a sleepwalker. It works, and you may prevent them getting into trouble.
I sleep walk. I’ve woke up in the living room, upside down on the couch. I’ve stood up on my bed and stepped straight off, I woke up when I hit the floor. One time I went and fed my fish while sleepwalking, I woke up with fish food on my pjs. Most the time I just open a window. I once did it while a friend stayed at my house, she was super freaked out and confused as to why I opened the living room window at 1Am in the middle of winter.
I'm a sleepwalker. I have done all sorts of weird things. I once stacked all of my books against my bedroom door, and I scratched my door over and over again freaking out my roommate at the time. A couple months ago I got out of bed and wandered around the house. My boyfriend had to guide me back to bed when he found me just standing in the kitchen staring at the wall. The next day I was exhausted. Lol I'm in my thirties and it has not slowed down.
The only thing that ever happened that was like sleep walking was I "woke up", got on my phone, typed a nonsense message to my friend, and went back to sleep and didn't remember doing it when I woke up.
I wake up , jump out of bed and walk around my room and back to bed after. Been told this by family and dont remember any of it. Spooky im 22. This video is very insightful
I went to a school camp last year to Vietnam. I sleepwalked around my hotel room while my room mate couldn't do anything but watch. Apparently when she asked me what a was doing I said I needed the toilet. Then I started going through my suit case looking for a hoodie (Vietnam is not hoodie weather btw) yelling that I needed to find raindrops?
This is gonna be a weird one, but I believe I slept walk once and caught myself a bit, even my mom saw my body do it. There was a time I slept walked where I got up from my bed, ran all the way to my parents bedroom door and knocked repeatedly and ran back to my bed. Idk how, but I slightly opened my eyes a bit and saw my body doing this. Was very brief. I think I remember another incident where I was screaming out loud in bed while sleeping and it woke my parents up.
I was told by my mom and younger sister that when I was younger, I did a lot of sleep walking. There were a few nights when I tried to go out the door outside. One night, I did make it out the front door and started walking around the neighborhood and wound up and my best friend's house (I only know this from her telling me that I walked right in while she was watching tv. That and I woke up there the next morning, really confused.) It stopped around when I was 16. At least, nobody has told me that I've done it anymore.
My aunt (when she was a kid) once sleepwalked and she did a most crazy thing. She says that she vaguely remembered having a dream that her hamster was cold, so guess what? While sleepwalking, she got the hamster and put it in the oven. My grandfather the next day went to put the oven on but luckily he spotted the hamster! xD this is a true story!
1:25 I don't know why this MYTH persists, but don't feel bad. I have heard reputable PhD neurologists say, oh those images you percieve while sleeping early on are not what we mean when we say dreams. They say dreams are by definition those images you perceive later in sleep. I SAY NO! Dreams are dreams! You can have a dream even during a microsleep or micronap! Even if it is a brief impression of something. I call those all dreams. Dreaming happens anytime you remove external stimuli from the brain, and sometimes those can also be called hallucinations.
I sleepwalked twice last month. the first time I woke up and there was piss all over, under and around my desk. the other time I tore apart my mouse pad, opened the stove and tore aluminum foil apart and put it in the sink
I sleep walk as an adult, if I'm somewhere unfamiliar I usually will stare at walls (usually in a kitchen or dining room) for an extended period of time, but recently I've been traveling a bit and I got caught waking up, walking to the work van climbing into the back and started to pee on the stock. That's how my boss discovered I'm a sleep walker and to lock the van and put the keys away if we're camping out on the road 😅 It's suspected that my sleep walking is connected with my insomnia and sleep apnea, I wear a smart watch with sleep tracking information and a motion sensor and GPS and if it detects that I'm walking around while I'm actually asleep it will cause my watch to start vibrating like mad to try and wake me up, it hasn't worked so far and I don't remember anything when I've been for a sleep walk despite supposedly acting like I just got startled awake when interacted with. and being able to do more complex tasks like having full coherent conversations online, play video games, I've added code to a game I'm working on as a hobby and I once even cleaned up dishes and put them away (mostly in the wrong spots) I was told I'd probably out grow it by my teens, I'm approaching my 30's and it's actually getting more frequent and I'm doing stranger things each time. Having been able to document a bit of it I'd be happy to answer a couple questions about my particular sleep walking habits for a few people who are curious or have never experienced it before.
A friend of mine said he sleepwalked out to the mailbox (one on a post in front of his house), leaned over it, and fell asleep on it. He woke up confused as hell.
When I was around 4 or 5, i walked out my room and locked myself out of the house. I freaked out because I woke up right after and started crying. A couple days ago (I'm 16), i sleep in a sleeping bag (I know, you can judge me), but somehow I must have unzipped my sleeping bag, walked over to my fan and turned it off then got back in and zipped my sleeping bag back up. I woke up in the middle of the night without my fan going and was all confused.
I went hear to check, because my nephew experience this just last night. His was kind of worse, because he went inside our neighbors house which quite far from where we live, it's almost a kilometer far from us, he went inside and just stare at the lady sleeping inside her room, the kid was small and only 10yrs old. good thing they know us, they know me and they recognized the kid. But the neighbors dont understand sleepwalking, they were still suspicious about why the kid was there and wonder where my nephew pass or how he got in. They have not check the cctv yet.
I’ve been sleepwalking for years now, but now it’s getting dangerous. I have broken 3 bones now, and just recently I broke my wrist and today or tomorrow I have to have surgery to put in a plate cause the bones keep moving and not healing. So yes I really need to fix this!
I sleep walk, talk and eat all the time. I drove down the road and parked my truck in the middle of the driveway of my neighbors house and it ran unti it burned all the gas up. I was in my underwear and wearing my hard hat with a beanie pulled down over my face and my neighbors freaked out and called the police. Every night I'm worried about what the hell I'll wake up to and it really scares me. Even more so now that it's linked to dementia and Parkinsons
My boyfriend woke up in the middle of the night with me staring at him like a psychopath and screamed..so i woke up also scared with my heart beating like crazy... And this moments of somnambulism happened a lot of times.. And still happening even tho I'm a grown-up..
Haven't slept walk in forever, last time I remember was when I was around 12; we lived in an apartment complex and I walked out of my room, unlocked the chain and dead bolt and was teetering on the top of the stairs when my mom found me. All I remember is something about wolves.
i was outside today and while i was on my to the front door of my house, I passed out on the lawn, and then woke up. I walked back inside but then i walked back out and started walking all the way to the next block into an alley. I woke up passed out on the ground. The whole time walking inside and outside and waking up from the 1st passout, I didn't even know it all happened. I just remember coming outside, walking into my friends car and back out 5 mins later on my way back inside. Then i wake up in the alley... I don't know if this happening from the progressing damage of epilepsy affecting my brain or something else. i only had one other time this happened back in 2014 in the morning passed out drunk after a party covered in snow.
You will never know when you are sleepwalking, unless you wake up in a different place. For example, I THINK I saw my mom's boy friend (not my dad) he got up, I did not see his eyes open when he got up. He stared at me for a second, and walked to the kitchen. Probably he was sleepwalking...

Get out!"
To this day, my dad teases me about it so much. Every time I come home he says "We have a code yellow." -.-
My mom said it was genetic, since she also sleepwalks. :P
Cool story bro.
Omg this is hilarious 😂 thanks for sharing
KillaKade that’s actually pretty scary! That’s always been one of my fears.
Half of it similar to me
When I was a kid I did the same like I walked out of my home.

When I was 12, I literally was sleepwalking EVERY night. This one night there was a thunderstorm, I was sleepwalking and I woke my mom up standing over her and apparently I was mumbling "bury the witch" and "quickly before she wakes up" I apparently then opened my eyes wide at the exact same time lightning and thunder crashed. Really freaky, but my mom put me back to bed. The next morning I woke up in the middle of the woods in my underwear. I was lying in a small hole that I dug up with my hands. I was mortified I thought I was kidnapped.

I've had that dizzy black out before and I've fallen asleep and immediatly slep walked. I'm a Chris as well. 😂

Lol
Fun fact: that's a form of sleepwalking.

How did sleep walking stopped?
Well it didnt blow up but it was certainly interesting lol. Hope your doing well now tho

Gotta go fast
One time I waited outside the toilet for my mom to get out and started dancing while sleepwalking.
Gaming Limited omg I've done that
Why am I laughing
When I was about 7 I was sleepwalking. I went downstairs to the living room where my mom was And told her I couldn't sleep.
one time i slept walked to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. my husband said he had to help walk me back to bed. i didnt know this until my husband told me next day
also yesterday my husband told me when i was sleeping i sat up and had my eyes wide open looking round the room plus my mouth was wide open. then i lay back down sleeping. its bit freaky when my husband tells me all this. he said it scares him when he sees it
I now permanently sleep on the sofa downstairs in the lounge as I woke up twice hanging out my upper bedroom window !!!!
One time I fell asleep in my room and then apparently I slept walked into my guestroom and I woke up naked in that bed. o.o
Naked? Lol classic lol
looool same just not naked
I'm dead ..
I was acting out my dream
what if you sleepwalk almost daily like I do? And your tired during the day

Ann so what happened?
She said its probably triggered by stress and when I have stress I should find something to cope with it
+Ann that's fucked :o

The next day I sort of remembered a dream I had where my mom was in the room next to me so I think that’s what happened
Another time (this one is about me talking in my sleep) there was a thunderstorm and little kid me was scared of thunderstorms, so I went downstairs and slept in my parent’s room. Apparently I sat up in the bed in the middle of the night, and stared straight into the corner and said, “[cousin’s name], give me the ball” and held my hand out. My mom said “Uh no [my name] I have the ball” and I said “oh” and laid back down and went to sleep.
I almost walked out of the door with a phone charger in my hand gonna bring it to someone while sleepwalking😂
That Guy Who Sings Ooof I kind of sleepwalk every night and it sucks
That Guy Who Sings but I mainly just say random things when I sleep walk
I even remember headlights of a car as I was walking thru the parking lot.
so how do you then know if something is just a dream or an actual sleepwalk?
The brain is an amazing but weird organ haha!
I once remember my mom waking me up for dinner ( it was burgers and fries) and i remember in a daze taking the fries from the thing (cardboard?) and throwing it then eating the fries from the ground ,my mom looked at me but said nothing and my siblings were too sleepy to care
Other story was in the first time I sleepwalked :
So I woke up and ate breakfast with my brother and mom when my brother says suddenly “do u remember last night?” And in confusion I say “no..?” And he told me the story last night were (when I was in the middle of taking care of my siblings since my mom is out) I sleepwalked, well, it was when she came back from the trip when I ran up to her and greeted her and she was kinda mad but once she saw that I was not “awake” she laughed and told me to just go to bed fast before she sees me and gets angry, so I literally ran to my bedroom, hit my arm / shoulder on the cabinet next to the bed and fell asleep... no wonder I had that pain on my arm when I woke up 😀😭
I sleepwalked to by two local bars last week (same night). It was sparked by a youth trauma of finding a guy breaking into my house who must of been high because he didn't know what he was doing. Sleepwalking usually is repeating usual behaviours. When someone is out they are out and don't try to wake them unless they are a danger to themselves or others.
that's not any help but thanks for the video

what about being aware that your sleep walking and at the same time not aware? while dreaming all at the same time??? and its the same re-occurring dream I have.....I sleepwalk while im aware of it and at the same time I am unaware and tuned into the dream I am having (which is always the same dream/nightmare of Existence beyond earth and space ending) while meantime I am sweating and crying turning on all the lights in the house. and I remember this all....(this has happened to me 3 times in my life...the exact same dream that I can explain in 100% detail..I have no idea what this is
+Penticton Films Dreams are weird and hard to explain. Best to just not think about it.
it's not supposed to help, the title is "how does sleepwalking work?" not "how to to stop sleepwalking?"

Another tome there was a funny incident where I apparently made a beeping noise while I backed out / rolled out of bed. Hey UltraGamer. We'll add microwaves to our list of potential topics for future episodes. Thanks!
One morning I woke up and my mom said last night I tried to go in my gaming
Room and use the restroom on my couch lol 😂
My brother kicked my dad in the croutch while sleepwalking
I started when I was 17 yr old, because of a traumatic episode in my life, and I occasionally still do it, especially when something stressful is happening to me. And yes, I still remember what I was doing while sleepwalking.
Never sleepwalk... I think... IHOPE oh no what if I'm sleeping right now ill never know :-(
I just found out I sleepwalk, Last night I got up and turned on the shower and went back to bed. My housemate lost his shit this morning because the shower was running all night. Not sure what to do about this.
I went sleepwalking ounce. I went to sleep in a chair and woke up in bed.
Sula Bintley same here
Sula Bintley I wish I could sleepwalk that would be so cool
Lauren Epps I don't think you would notice anything about it :p
what do u mean?
Lauren Epps You won't remember you spend the night walking around in your sleep because you were sleepwalking.
I also sleep walk, normally i wander around my house and stare at people but it dosnt help that i also have sleep paralysis
(i live in Norway in a smal village With 6K People) Thanks for Reading :) (sorry about my English)
-Ma9nu22 :)
BrainStuff - HowStuffWorks ill watch it :) Ty for answering!
Try bubble rap on the floor......not sure if it works but worth a try
Sounds like possessed
My grandfather the next day went to put the oven on but luckily he spotted the hamster! xD this is a true story!
i was disturbing someone when i was asleep and i was saying "not that, not that"
1:25 I don't know why this MYTH persists, but don't feel bad.
When I was a kid I remember sleeping on my bed and waking up on the couch in the kitchen witch really weirded me out.
I sleep walk as an adult, if I'm somewhere unfamiliar I usually will stare at walls (usually in a kitchen or dining room) for an extended period of time, but recently I've been traveling a bit and I got caught waking up, walking to the work van climbing into the back and started to pee on the stock.
That's how my boss discovered I'm a sleep walker and to lock the van and put the keys away if we're camping out on the road 😅
It's suspected that my sleep walking is connected with my insomnia and sleep apnea, I wear a smart watch with sleep tracking information and a motion sensor and GPS and if it detects that I'm walking around while I'm actually asleep it will cause my watch to start vibrating like mad to try and wake me up, it hasn't worked so far and I don't remember anything when I've been for a sleep walk despite supposedly acting like I just got startled awake when interacted with. and being able to do more complex tasks like having full coherent conversations online, play video games, I've added code to a game I'm working on as a hobby and I once even cleaned up dishes and put them away (mostly in the wrong spots)
I was told I'd probably out grow it by my teens, I'm approaching my 30's and it's actually getting more frequent and I'm doing stranger things each time.
