Best version of this aria. I used to not LOVE Raimondi’s voice, thinking it too light for bass roles. It’s not the biggest bass voice. But he knows how to fool you into thinking it is! I heard him in a rare verdi piece and the voice wasextremely resonant and the top ringing and brilliant. His F sharp was one of the biggest noises I’ve heard in a house, and those open ringing middle notes certainly sounded dark and bassy. This is a great voice and an artist who really knows how to use it.

Vero. A parte che è spassoso, ma poi mezzotono in più o meno che cambia?? Capisco se uno prende la nota un'ottava sotto o sopra andando contro come è scritta, ma per mezzo tono. E poi io nn capisco chi ricopre di fischi e urli un/una cantante se stecca. Sbagliare è umano e io nn me sognerei mai di sobillarlo di fischi e improperi ne tantomeno insultare la sua arte!! It's not ignorance, it's a fact; just because he sings Scarpia doesn't mean he's a baritone, not all basses sing Sarastro, and please, take into account all of these roles were written for a true bass, before the bass-baritone fach was even considered.
