actualy we can interprete that scene in many way but we cant know for sure, maybe is like you said, or maybe she do go in some sort of "after-life" (after all Rimumu show her thing he knew before, but he dont know what her mother look like) also if Rimuru "soul" travel to this world after he die maybe Shizue soul return to the "after-life" of her original world after diying.
actualy assuming there is a different after-life for the 2 world is only assumption too, even if the 2 world are different for all we know they could share the same afterworld, they are conected after all since many summon travel here trhough magic and even some soul do (like Rimuru) whitout anyone help.
it's also possible there is no after-life world and this scene was just some sort of metaphore.

8:36 idk if anyone will see this but they traveled together for around 3 months i believe. The Trio needed close to 2 months to get to and back from the Cave in which Veldora was sealed.
If the timelines for both worlds are parallel and she was maybe 8-10? years old during the firebombing of Tokyo. That was in 1945 and the manga released in 2014 so we can guess she'd be around 77-79? years old. And I have no doubt the fire damage, summoning and strain of hosting and resisting Ifrit all those years damaged her health on top of all the adventuring.

spoiler S2 : its actualy the oposite, whitout Ifrit she wouldnt live that long, so the only thing who actualy damaged her health is the sumoning/contract part, the Ifrit part is the reason she dont die young
Shizu and Ifrit's relationships is not a normal human and spirit summon relationship. Ifrit wanted Shizu's body and Shizu developed skills to keep them separated in the same body. You are right that Ifrit was keeping the body young but Shizu separated will power was aging and she was dying of old age. That's why when Ifrit was taken she turned to her real age both physically and inside. If they had bonded then non of that would have happened
In Slime. A Demon Lord is just a title of certain rank/level. Which is why there are multiple Demon Lords. In other words, if you meet the requirements. Any being in that world could become a Demon Lord.

also when he devoured Shizu hes words how he will let her have a good dream inside him forever, u just half to put picture together from all the clues and u get that picture even without what i talked about first

This episode always makes me cry.
The one really nice thing about this series is that when the writing hits, it hits hard like a punch to the gut. It's not the deepest story overall, but parts of it are real bangers.

As someone who is reading the novels, I can promise you that the plot does indeed get very deep, in my own opinion. Abyss-like one could say.
There are some cuts that were made in the 1st season that sort of gloss over how deep it gets. They've done a good job in season 2 and 3 to incorporate more of the threads.
Either way, this media is amazingly fun and highly enjoyable. ❤️🔥
Glad you are reacting to this series. Shizue holds a very special place in Tensura, in my opinion: It can be argued that while Rimuru is the 'heart' of the story, Shizue is definitely its 'soul'.
Shizu is a bit of a special case, since she really didn't like ifrit.
They never truly merged they that normally happens, so her body aged "normal" even if it didn't show and his removel made her die.
Altough she wouldn't have much longer even if he stayed inside.
If she would have merged with ifrit she could have lifed for century's ez.
End of the adaptation of Volume 1. Shizue will always be one of my favorite characters and while I have a lot of complaints about the anime's bad habit of cutting important shit, they genuinely improved Shizue's story immensely.
Something I notice a lot of reactors miss regarding the Elf's Fortune Telling scene is that, they don't notice (or recall when it becomes hinted more later) exactly WHO the crystal ball first zoomed in on. The first thing you see is the group as a whole, Shizu and her Students. The first person zoomed in on is the one student with black hair hugging Shizu. It could be because I have some knowledge regarding future events, but my interpretation of that scene is that they only 'think' Shizu is the "Destined One" merely because shes the only Adult in the vision, and they accept this when they get to this episode and see her as the one granting him Human Form in that they are literally "Together". However the girl they first zoomed in on, I suspect is the actual "Destined One" in the context they meant when telling the fortune, there are a few clues towards this throughout season 1, the first being that she is the one it zoomed in on first, the others are revealed later when said characters make their appearance, so I wont go into those clues. All I can say is, the girl it first zoomed in on, definitely take a mental note of her and look at the subtle clues regarding her, and you might come to interpret that "Destined One" scene the same as I do. beyond that, there are of course story points I saw images from when looking into the LNs that 'possibly' back it up, but obviously cant talk about that, but she is an important character to the story.
yeah end of the light novel she's the second strongest after rimuru i'm pretty sure and i think they love each other. she's also the ''hero'' that sealed veldora so that rimuru would meet him and gave rimuru the mask so he would meet 2 of his 12 strongest pillars.

but you're on the right track as to why I interpret her as the destined one. I mean its obviously a Harem Anime (as much as Rimuru himself doesn't realize, even commenting how hes jealous of others getting girlfriends, when hes literally got like 5+ girls lined up trying to be with him)

To be fair, when that elf fortune teller said that Rimuru wouldn't be with his special someone soon. For all we know it could one of the girls from Shizu's class in the future. Like that black haired girl that huged Shizu in at least 10 years from now. That been said. It is still beautiful how their relationship was. There was love, but also companionship.

if things were differen and Shizu would have accepted Ifrid she would have become a Majin and had lifespan a lot more then few decades as she had
I’ve seen Rimuru’s human form before watching the show and always assumed he was a girl. You can imagine the confusion in the first episode when I saw Rimuru was a guy until I made may way to this episode.

Ya’ll were hoping so hard that Shizue would live. I like that hope, but in TenSura, sometimes they just gotta die.
I’ll be real, in the nearly 400 anime series and movies I’ve seen, Shizue’s stupidly tragic transfer and life and death is one of the things that still hit me hardest. Sure, I get emotional with most of the shite that means to make you feel that way, but Shizue…just a special soreness. Any other time she is discussed or “seen,” it hits me again. Honestly, that’s what I’d ask from any great anime I love.
Also, it’s Shizue, never Shizu. I refuse to validate that no-good douchebag and his shite respect for others.
When a person is simmoned just like shizu or other entoty in that world their life span is minimal, like 10yrs max.. They need some spirit to fuse together to stay long. But if yoire a reincarnated like rimuru, they gain materoal body to stay long. No need for spirit fusion. I hope it'll made you understand 😇😄
I know I‘m 6 months late but the whole thing about Summons having drastically shortened lifespans only applies to children. If you’re summoned as an adult you’ll be perfectly fine even without a spirit.
@@ironmoondarkwing4190 i think that they cannot also summon adult ones. Bcoz summoning a person need a lot of magic. For cgikdren they need powerful mages to summon. More or less 20+. Tjsn how much can the adult be summoned? No wonder they can only summon childrens

30 mages are usually needed for summoning. Veldora never specified that 30 were needed specifically to summon children. There is no reason to believe that summoning an adult would take more magic than summoning a child, although the summoning technique used by Leon allows for a much shorter cooldown period between summons at the cost of mostly summoning children.
Also, they absolutely can summon adults. Leon is just not doing it because he is trying to summon a specific person who happens to be a child.
Remember those 3 Otherworlders from season 2 that were sent to cause trouble in Tempest? They were old enough when they were summoned to not need a spirit to survive. The excess energy from crossing worlds (which is what was killing the children) instead manifested as Extra/Unique Skills. Folgen (the leader of Falmuth’s knights who got one-shot by Rimuru) was a Summon as well. Yuuki also explained to Rimuru that it is specifically children who can’t handle that energy and are slowly being torn apart by it.

No worries, a lot of this stuff I only remember because it was elaborated on in the manga and light novel. 😅
Season 1 was a great start for the anime imo, but it sadly suffered some pacing issues in the later episodes. I still enjoyed it a lot though, you can really tell that people had fun while animating it and the sound design & OSTs were awesome. Sure, they left out a lot of the explanations from the source material but that’s to be expected.
Season 3 on the other hand seems to take the time to put in a lot more details from the LN. I‘m excited to see how they adapt these next few volumes, especially since it’s going to involve even more politics, planning and logistics than season 2 which is difficult to animate in an interesting way. I feel like the latest episode had much better pacing than the previous one, giving us more dynamic shots and overall using the OST better to highlight the brewing tension. I‘m certainly looking forward to next week‘s episode. :)
Warning !!!!! at the end of season 1 isn't there foreshadowing of her return?
All I will say is you should rewatch the "who your destined to be with" scene very very carefully. There is still something that you missed 😉
I have to say: this show, while fun and wholesome, has a lot of wasted potential (imo) when it comes to exploring its deeper themes. However, this episode never fails to make me shed a tear. Shizu's death is handled pretty beautifully.
