    Yá'at'ééh. I am a young Diné woman. I come from a traditional Diné family. I was a little worried when the guy interviewing ask Mr. Chee if he could see his medicine bag and the items he uses during ceremony. You can't ask for something like that. If he wanted you to see his medicine and the items used during a traditional ceremony, he will show you. But just know these items used are very very VERY SACRED.. It's not just something one can openly share with any outsider or even the world. Traditional Navajo elders tell us these items are what heal us, protect us and keep Navajo traditions and culture alive. It's something you can't play around with or be open about.. It must be protected. Those are just my thoughts.

      It's the same in our Andean tradition. I my self am a carrier of a sacred medicine bundle and it's not something for display or the outside world to know... Very few have seen what my Mesa (andean medicine bundle) contains.. And it is the same in our tradition... NEVER purchase your sacred tools...

      It only works for you if you truly believe. One way I can relate it to is Christianity how you have to fully accept Jesus into your soul. In ways our culture and traditions are similar to Christianity and yet again, not. Like that kind of belief and level of trust. If you believe it, it will work. If you just play around with it, IT knows you are just using it. That part is all up to you.

    Was stunned when interviewer asked to see what was in the medicine man medicine bag . No one was allowed to handle or see the contents of my bag not even my sons or grandkids . They are the tools that the medicine man uses . To be a medicine man or medicine woman your heart has to be pure and that of a lion , you will be tested and attacked by the entities of the supernatural side . 🙏

      You will definitely be tested! I have since I was a kid. The spirits and the "other worldly" will always follow you when you have a connection to the other side. When you have been gifted, in order to help others.
      Even before I realized the gifts my grandmother passed on to me, I sensed them all around me. My maternal grandmother was a loving and gifted healer. And the only family member I ever felt a strong connection to.

    To the person conducting the supposed interview. Try to at least act as though you are interested. Be respectful. Do not ask stupid and/or disrespectful questions. Ask a few questions BEFORE you enter a traditional sacred space and ask if there is anything that you are supposed to say or do when entering a traditional scared space. Also ask about what you are NOT supposed to do or say in that holy place. Some things can be overlooked if you have the correct spirit and intent and you do something incorrectly, But if you do not have the correct spirit and intent, or if you are not respectful of that holy place, then just do not go there.

When we go to our medicine men, we don’t go an say “what kind of tools you have?” I hope they cut your interview short and didn’t show you anything else. Chill out man.

    My great grandfather was a medicine man and he would have never allowed himself to be recorded or filmed while talking or explaining our ceremonies or traditions. He was offered by universities across the US but the moment they said he was going to be filmed, he said no and meant it. They tried offering him money but the answer was still no.
    My mom as a little girl tried recording him because she wanted to learn and not forget anything about him. She hid and turned on the recorder but he said to her I know you're there and you can't record me. She always wondered how he knew she was going to record him and years later her cousin brother told her that the holy ghost told him that she was there hiding. He then said that medicine men are like priesthood holders and they can communicate to the holy ghost.

    Got a little irritated with the interviewer. I liked what the medicine man had to say. The interviewer obviously wasn't really interested in what he was saying judging by the way he meandered with the camera during the interview on unimportant aspects of the environment. Also rude with his pushiness in wanting to see what was in the medicine bag. Didn't even let the translator finish communicating the story that the medicine man was sharing before he could stop himself from asking what was in the bag. Typical white man. Medicine man words saved the day though, so it was still worth listening to despite the culturally insensitive interviewer.

      prayers with peyote started from Mexican medicine men who taught it to Quanah Parker..and in return Quanah Parker taught it to many different tribes in the US..I know this because I am Navajo(Dine) and my grandfather was taught by Quanah Parker

      This is the 100th year anniversary of the NAC Charter being legally recognized as a legal church, my family will be having an honor dance, to honor my great great grandfather Quanah Parker. The Quanah Parker Decendants will be hosting this honor dance, we will be inviting NAC churches, please share my words, we will be having it at our Comanche Nation complex in October 2018.

    You know what's funny he speaks perfect English he just refuses to speak to you in English because he is dishonoring you there is no respect but respect is expected this is not okay he wears a wedding band this is a European way this is not Native American Way people believe everything they see everything they hear but they do not listen to Spirit when it talks they go to others for help but everything you need is within you
    Not everyone is aware that they have gifts and braces or engages in practice but I smell sweet wood also hint of cedar so you asked what was in the bag that is made not by the Native American not traditional and purchased and then you ask to be disrespectful to go inside the medicine man bag this is not right cuz it is sacred and it's not for prying eyes but he wears glasses and if he was a medicine man what do you not know how to heal his own eyes what is with the bandana what about the clothing it isn't traditional I'm very impressed though with the structure because it is authentic unlike the sweat lodge which was made out of a lot of deadly materials at the Lakota reservation people talk a lot but no one really listens and Common Sense is no longer common but this video is a joke on you

      @kaptainrogers 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GummyBearRecords he likely doesn't speak or understand English that well.
      there are many elders like that. my own gram knows enough to tell me what to do in English but we don't have the same long conversations she has with her friends or my dad and his siblings. I barely know 12 words of Navajo.
