Good video, thank you for up loading.
It seems the only culprit can be the thickness of the wraps, my guess is your corners. Half an overlap on the straights but i think you could have been a lot more sparing on the corners and still achieve full coverage.

I`ve just done a UTube vid doing a C40. My field coils were ok thank God. I do have some of the same wrapping with the red line. I need to get some vanish to coat them in future. I`m from the UK and the brushes are £3.50 here on EBay. Quite cheap.

Just watched the rest of the video. I think it`s the paint. Would be 3 layers of paint. I would buff it off and then try again and grind off any hig spots. If you ever strip a Lucas wiper motor DR3 poles off it`s a nightmare to get the motor to spin. You haven`t failed.

Would it be the new paint on the inner shoes stopping it going in by any chance? Just a thought.

Hi Nick, I did wonder about this - but the clearance needed is quite a lot, so I don't think it's this alone - sadly. 🙁
