Of course I'd probably never know what Michael did after this show was recorded, but that huge ring on his finger suggests to me he was a married man, and I'm guessing the first woman who hugged him was his wfe. If that's the case, much respect to him since he didn't once touch the models in his delirious joy of winning both showcases and a million dollars. Damn those taxes on the money and the items he won though. This is why we'll never have TPiR Canada. The government can't take taxes on lotteries and prizes. Every cent you win in a lottery or a game show is non-taxable.
Great. My 🧠 (alongside someone's at CBS) would have been confused if there was another Michael Larson in PYL. Expecially after what Larson caused (I'm talking about the first two parter show of PYL where there wasn't any whammy for 40 long spins).
I find it unfair that the last person gets to go up by 1$ which means the 2nd highest person will definitely lose unless he hits the exact price. They should totally change the rule to writing down the number and revealing all at once.
+thewilliamjrful Not if the the person who bid $1 more and actually overbid. There was an instance in which one guy underbid by $1 but won, because he guessed the exact price, and, presumably, the one who should have won actually overbid. Imagine being the one who bid 700 and someone bid 701, then realized that you won because you guessed the correct price.
thewilliamjrful - It's been done like that from the beginning-it will never change. Unfair? Yeah, it sucks. But it still won't change. That's why they change who bids first on each item so eventually the ones getting screwed by the $1 overbid gets a chance to screw everybody else. (Unless you've been picked later in the show and don't get the chance....) Your idea is a good one, though! I totally agree with you. Blind bidding. that's the only fair way.
I was on your show when I just got married and we were on a honeymoon my husband was named John and my name is ann and then we left there we went back to Tacoma and I really do love your show
Yes, back on Friday[evening], March 7, 2,008, "The Price Is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular" game show had Mr. Drew Carey as its former host just as his previous [temporal] studio announcer there was Mr. Richard "Rich" Fields!

@@84CORVETTEBILL he’s boring and annoying and doesn’t make the show have personality and he ruined the show forever since 2007, he’s not the real host, another reason why he should retire is because of his tough childhood, like I’m done with this guy and hopefully someone else can take over, because I don’t think Bob Barker can return because of how old he is.

Totally agree, repeats himself over n over to fill air time and laughs at his own jokes, when nobody else is laughing. He needs a personality, and greet the people like he really means it. He's simply not the right dude for Price is right
The person closest to the actual retail price of their own showcase without going over is the winner. That's been the rule since September 4th, 1972. If both contestants are $250 or less (or in this MDS case, $1,000) away from the actual retail price of their own showcase, then the contestant closest to the ARP of their own showcase is the winner and wins both showcases. The only time when BOTH contestants can win is if the differences on each of their showcases is the same (without being over). And if said differences are the same and are $250 or less away from the ARP, then BOTH contestants win BOTH showcases. In answer to your question, the only way they BOTH could have won the million is if they had each had the same difference AND been within $1,000 of the ARP, The odds of that both contestants having the same difference are almost astronomical these days. I think it's only happened once or twice, if ever, and that would have been back in the 70's, when showcases were usually under $5K a piece.
Wow, could you imagine being only 500-600 dollars away and not even winning your own showcase! That's exactly what would have happened if he bid 80k-he would have thought to win both showcases and 1M and then...NOTHING!
No; the contestant who bids closest without going over wins; if both contestants would have been $1,000 or less away from the retail price of their own showcases, it would go to the contestant who was the closest.
As far as I remember, the original broadcast of this particular special was preempted in Houston at first because the CBS affiliate (KHOU-TV) wanted to air a stupid basketball game...locally. It wasn't until the reruns that Houston ever saw this episode.
During Race Game I thought the onscreen graphic of the the logo for the home gym was real and when it went away I thought one of the models had knocked it off
It's rigged. Out of around 20 Plinko drops I watched, only one went into the middle slot. Prolly has to hit certain pegs just right to get into the middle slot or the pegs near the middle slot towards the bottom are slightly closer together or something. When Drew said you need 3 Plinkos to land in the $20k slot then get a Gold Plinko, I knew he'd never win. It's hard to get one in the middle much less 3! Next to impossible. It's definitely rigged. Don't know how exactly, but it's rigged.
Also is it just me or do they seem far more excited and vibrant now? Drew seems kinda unattached and uninterested in this episode and it’s a special. Now he and the announcer are very excited and into it. Maybe just nerves?
Oh boy Michael was lucky I wonder what he did with all those cars and $1million dollars lucky bugger I know it was from 6 years ago he might still have one of the cars I hope he didn't be silly and blew a million dollars I'm from Australia and thank u!!!!!

But I can tell you that young man that won all that money and prizes totally $1,127,062 that sounds great for him I mean at least he won three cars a trip to Paris a trip to Las Vegas two Segway scooters and a few other things I'll tell you what at least the guy didn't go to the casino and waste all that money while I was there at the slot machines because I'll tell you what that's a pretty good way to lose all that money at the slot machine because basically just as fast as he could win a million dollars he could lose it in the slot machine
Drew said they're letting her spin first because she blew it on the last game as though it's something good, but the person who spins first almost never wins. They're the only person who has to decide whether to spin again and sometimes make the wrong decision since they don't know what the other two are going to spin.
The person who won the least spins first, though. That's been the rule ever since the SCSD was introduced in the mid-70s. If you win the most, you spin last, which gives you an advantage.

Those Plinko Chips, They Can Be Pretty Sneaky and Pretty Tricky, Going Down That Plinko Board.
Watched an old episode today with Bob Barker. Plinko was played
Guy dropped 3 chips that landed smack dab in the middle
Eh, at least we got _The Price is Right at Night_ now on CBS in 2021... so, that's something.
Also is it just me or do they seem far more excited and vibrant now? Drew seems kinda unattached and uninterested in this episode and it’s a special. Now he and the announcer are very excited and into it. Maybe just nerves?
Man this music is so good to hear

I remember this episode this was one of the three contestants who won $1 million on the night time version of The Price is Right between February 7th 2008 and I think somewhere around 2009 or 10.
2008.
It's really annoying how in plinko nobody is putting it right in the middle
