Hi! I don’t know much about Law but, from what I’ve heard from my classmates you’re on the right track. I’m not sure about two things. Firstly, Visual Arts. Maybe you could replace it with psychology or economics, I’ve heard these two can help you a lot in Law.
Secondly, two group 1 subjects. A few of my friends took two group 1 subjects and they said it was very very tough.
Honestly, you should a) ask your school college counselor for more advice regarding law schools and b) look at the schools you would to go to and pay attention to their subject requirements. :)

      Hey
So first of all I would recommend you look at the university requirements in your country of choice, that’ll tell you all you need to know. But, I’d recommend you take HL Chem instead of HL Bio as it seems to be higher priority for most universities (if possible, both is best). Apart from that you seem to be set, maybe Maths AA SL if you want a slightly better edge over other prospective students but I wouldn’t overthink that.

If you think you could perform better at maths than at English I think you should take maths. However, if, in the future, you want to study at an English-speaking university, I would urge you to make sure that you have a sufficient level and, if you don’t, to take English so you can ensure your level is enough in the future

    • @EmilianoRuizAyala
      @EmilianoRuizAyala  2 ปีที่แล้ว

There are some ways, for example public schools are much cheaper (in Italy they are around 4,000 euro). It's also possible to get scholarships for private universities like the one I have. Grades depend on the country, as far as I know they don't really matter in Italy, you'll be judged on your performance on the admission test and whether you have a high school diploma or not. For other countries like the UK they depend on each specific uni so my advice would be to go to each website individually.

It's hard to say, since different universities say different things. You have two options, either you choose AI SL and then apply to whatever universities will accept it, or you research some universities to see what most of them want and then take whichever that is :)

    • @EmilianoRuizAyala

Hi! I haven’t heard of the GIB but the subjects themselves sound good. You have Bio and Chem HL which is what you need for medicine. Turkish SL should let you raise your grade a bit since it’s your native language. And since History and Maths are compulsory there’s nothing to say about them.
There’s a bunch of physiology in Bio but if you meant philosophy then it’s a bummer it’s not an option but I wouldn’t recommend taking it online, a lot of my friends struggled with online subjects

    Hello,
I have taken Chem, Bio, Psycho and Math AI HL and English and Finnish A SL. I do not want to take Chem as it is very stressful. I have looked at all the unis I want to apply to and it does not really require that Chem should be available in your IB subject selection (this was in University College Dublin and Finnish Schools). As long as you have Chem somewhere. I might drop it completely in that case as I am only required todo 3 courses then. However, I am conflicted with what I should take instead of that. While, I am considering medicine as my first choice, I think physics in SL would be better. However, I am also considering law as I kind of like History (even to the extent I wanna take it in HL). But that would mean I have to drop Math AI HL to Math AA SL as I still need long math to study in Finland. And I kind of don't want to do that because I actually enjoy the subject. So yeah, I'm conflicted.

Hi, I don't think many medschools will ask you for those three sciences since you can't really even take all three in some schools (like mine). So, I guess my advice is, it depends.
If the university of your dreams requires all three, and you think you can preform well enough to be considered for that university, take all three.
If you've found other good universities that don't need all three major sciences, don't take all three major sciences (it'll make your IB experience so much easier, trust me)
If you're unsure, do some more research into universities you're interested in, or universities in the country of your interest, just to make sure you know what they ask for

Hi! I’ll give you my advice but I would suggest you go to the webpage of the universities you’re interested in and look at the requirements there for the best data. That having been said:
Well firstly I wouldn’t advise psychology if you’re not going to enjoy it. The IB is a long and hard program so try to make it easier on yourself by choosing subjects you enjoy!
Regarding English... it depends on whether you want to study in an English speaking country or at a university that teaches in English. If you do then go for English A, if you don’t then maybe go for English B.
As for maths, both are a good option, so I would go with which ever one you think you could perform best in. There’s no point in taking Maths AA HL if you’re gonna get a three in it :)

Hi! So if you are planning on gong to the UK or US I would take English A for sure. I don’t know which one is easier between Econ or Psych but you said yo undid int find Psych interesting so I wouldn’t choose Psych if I were you. But to be honest the best thing you can do is go to the websites of uni’s you’re interested in and look at the subject requirements.
As for the US, let me firstly direct you to another video where I explain why I didn’t apply to the US (th-cam.com/video/BPCsfQSWmeA/w-d-xo.html). But basically you won’ find requirements for the US because you have to do 4 years of liberal arts college where you study a combination of subjects for the first two years and then choose a major and a minor for the last two years. Now these can be unrelated to medicine because the you have to apply to a medical school where you’ll spend the next 4 years studying medicine. So in summary, for the US, subject choices are not important but to get into a good university you’ll need a bunch if extracurriculars and stuff. (As my college counselor used to tell us, the UK cares about your grades and academic performance, the US cares about you as a person)

In the US there’s 3 or 4 years of undergraduate, liberal arts education and then you actually go to medical school. In that sense the IB doesn’t help for medical school, but for your undergraduate degree which will then lead you into medical school. I don’t know how helpful IBDP will be for that, if anything it can give you credits for your undergrad degree. If you want to do the IB I’d choose Bio and Chem HL, the rest is mostly up to you.

Now, between taking Bio and Chem HL, you should definitely take Chem HL. It’s harder but it’s more important than Bio, or at least universities think so. I wouldn’t recommend four HL subjects because personally it seems like a lot and I think you would be sacrificing good grades for subjects which isn’t something you want to do. For you SL’s definitely take bio, physics might help too if you want to but they don’t really matter as much.
I would also recommend you look for uni’s that don’t need specific subjects or that you try to explain your circumstances to them. :)

@@thaliaam1168 Ultimately, it depends on which course you feel more comfortable with. From what I heard from my Math teachers, IB AI HL is harder than AA SL, because it is still an HL course. I looked at the syllabus for both courses before making my decision, and I noticed that AI HL consists some harder topics that AA SL topics does not include (vectors and matrices for example). Another thing to consider is how well you work with calculators. AI SL and HL both allow calculators for ALL papers, while AA SL has ONE non-calculator paper. I didnt consider that when I chose my courses, but I found out that the non-calculator paper is my weakness. These are just some aspects you can consider; talk to your subject teachers and look into your uni requirements. I will be making a video specifically about whether or not to choose AA or AI (still doing research right now). Feel free to leave a comment on my channel if you have any questions 😁

Hey there! So, assuming you want to study medicine, let’s see...
      1. Psychology is hard yes, and you do have to memorize many things, but it’s the same case for Econ. Pick whichever one you might like the most, but take into consideration the grades that you think you could achieve (higher grades are obviously better). Also think that psych will help you in medicine because it’s something you will eventually cover
      2. I think you should take an SL maths, I don’t recommend four HL’s and generally don’t recommend HL Maths. As for AI or AA, it depends on what grades you think you’ll get. If you can achieve good grades with AA then take AA. If you’d feel more comfortable with AI, go for AI. If you take Psych you might want to take AI to make the two years slightly easier on you.
Good luck on the IB! :)

    -Bio HL
    -Chem HL
    -Eng B HL
    -Arabic A SL
    -Bus SL
    -Math AA SL
My only concern is that I speak both Arabic and English fluently, so I was mainly confused that if my choice in Arabic A would effect my application by not filling the language requirements. In this way I'll be opting for a bilingual certificate, but I just want to make sure that this would ensure that I would fit the requirements. My school only offers language and literature and it was quite hard for students to achieve a 7 unlike with Arabic A, however the teacher told me that it is quite the same. Both of my English and Arabic teacher say I have a great potential in both subjects, but after discussing the situation with my English teacher she told me to choose Arabic A.

I think if you're fluent in both languages then you should take the one that a) you want to study in and b) you think you could achieve a higher score in. The reason for this is that you'll probably be asked to sit an English test (I was and I did the IB in English and took English Literature HL) but it shouldn't be a problem if you're fluent.
