And sometimes there’s sirens then they go off, and they come back on. So you have to rush everything down, come back up, and come back down again.

We moved to Florida the day before the hurricane, lost power and my autistic daughter ran out in the middle of the night but was fine and found by her service dog. Your videos really help. My daughter is 22 and thanks to your potty training video she's getting there
Thinking of your family during this time. I will never forget what I saw right after Hurricane Charley in 2004 in Florida. My father survived the hurricane alone in Port Charlotte, but later passed away. I donated all of his furniture to Habitat for Humanity. Stay safe.

Thank you for sharing and educating the public. I'm a single mother with 2 boys on the spectrum, ages 11 and 13. Many people have no clue how families with Autism live. Your positive personality is refreshing and reminds me of what I need to be as a mother of children with special needs. Not sure if you have tried this but, my son loves his rocking chair that he rocks in so he not only stems but gets the sensory need fulfilled.
She is such a beautiful girl and you can see in her eyes how sensitive and innocent she is. I know it must be hard day to day but God knew you could handle such a special person
All safe down in the Martin County and Palm Beach County District! We all lost power for a few days but that is the worst of the damages here! I worked at the hospital during the storm days and we only had one surgery on generator power which was such a blessing compared to our last few hurricanes there! People have two smiles: a genuine smile that comes naturally when we're happy, and a social smile that we use when smiling is the socially-appropriate response. Abbie has no sense of what is socially appropriate. Every time she smiles, she means it.

I've been binge-watching since yesterday and just had to comment that Abbie has the exact same color walls in her room that I did when I was a teenager! The same design too! The only difference is that the top of mine was orange and not pink. But I've never seen anyone else have that style before, especially with the lime green stripe! It's so cool to see! (Side note: My parents let me have it that way but painted over it as soon as I moved out, haha. Too bright for them.)

It’s really interesting listening to you talking about what you do before a hurricane coming. In the uk we don’t have anything like this. We have heavy rain and that’s about it it. Seems like a lot of things to remember to prepare for one coming. It must be like going in the dark ages if you don’t have a generator.

We left our trampoline out for hurricane Katrina. We lived in southeast Louisiana, about half an hour away from new orleans. Never saw most of that trampoline again.

I always used deflection whenever my child exhibited 'negative autistic behavior.' Whenever I saw him rocking and echolalia (murmuring) I gave him an activity to do like, playing with a toy or sweeping the floor.
In our tiny 2 bedroom college apartment in Gainesville right now with 6 people, trying not to go stir-crazy. Still have power for the moment so I figured I would watch a little TH-cam while I can! Thinking about you all during this craziness, just glad Irma has weakened a bit over the past two days
