  • Got lucky with the weather (listen to me- it was August!) and it coincided with a spring tide,none of this was planned,but by the time I arrived,and launched it was the hours around high water and I think this is the best time,as a lot of the caves dry out at low water.
    A word of warning the ramp at Flamborough North Landing is deceptively steep! as I got halfway down the weight of the boat was too much (even though it was lightly loaded) as the dry sand was providing excellent lubrication qualities between concrete and wetsuit boot,the whole thing went out of control and I had to just run down with it,luckily the ramp was clear at the time even though there was a lot of people about.Also getting back up was difficult,luckily a helpful kid saw me struggle and helped me up to the top-nice one kid,see they aren't all bad.
    The whole area is riddled with caves not unlike Swiss cheese,and the bird life is unbelievable,I will post another video next of Bempton Cliffs on the same evening demonstrating the extent,diversity and deafening racket!

    Great Video of Flanborough Head sea caves never seen these before! However on North Landing Beach at low tide. There is a cave on the right hand side, you walk or wade into which takes you to a Sea cave!

    We have been round and in some of these caves in our dinghy from north landing,,, the last time we had to be rescued by the flamborian as the wind direction and speed had changed so much we started getting blown out to sea, an experiance i would rather not repeat.
    We have been round the cliffs at least a dozen times and i always check tides and conditions and im a good rower but got caught out,,many thanks to the guys on the flamborian..

    A man of great taste,I see you have "Great Gig in the Sky" on your channel - absolutely top drawer,does not get any better than "Darkside"

    Why thankee verily much kind Sir......ha ha. It is a superb place, very under-rated, I think, and the bird life is just extreme. Best done at high water though, and be careful on that ramp at North Landing, it is steeper than it appears.

    @peterkills Did the "Farnes" Thur. 20th May,loads of Puffins out there too - fabulous stuff,get out there and get what you can while it lasts - this could be summer!! Like to go back to Flamborough as I didn't see all of it,it takes some beating for birdlife,and the caves are superb.

    Good luck with that papercrafter, boy are you going to need it. The weather looks appalling, for at least the weekend, but you never know do you?

    @hinzdean You would be lucky to get underwater visibilty like that in winter months at Flamborough,in summer maybe.You might get lucky in April or so if we get a settled spell of weather.The East coast is not noted for good visIbility,until you get to Beadnell or so,even then, close inshore it is usually bad if there is any waves or swell.The first time I dived the Farnes,it was spectacular out on the Islands,but inshore,like Ox-tail soup! That was Februrary,and the water very cold indeed.

    @onlywhenpissed No,too many other places to go,but I will go back,had a really great time there,the day after,I went up to Whitby,and combined Sea Paddle,with some fossil hunting,and a very relaxing trip up the River Esk,all highly reccomended.

    Thanks, unfortunately, despite promising myself that I would, I have never returned since this trip. There has been a few trips like this, were I think, that it was so good, it could never be as good, if I visited again, and therefore be a dissapointment. There's a lot more other good stuff on my channel though.

    Thanks,I think that may be the cave in question,that I paddle through,and the camera gets splashed,as I emerge,North Landing beach is on the left,It was high water,and a spring tide when I was there,so the water level wont really get any higher.
    The whole area is fantastic,would love to go again,it's just about the weather!

    @FairBritannia It's a doddle when conditions allow,really.There is some tidal flow,but nothing you can't paddle against,I had a bit of trouble in one cave as the wind was swirling through,and so was the tide.Pick a good day and it is easy,and a trip the other way(North West) to Bempton Cliffs is even easier(see the other video) the bird life here is worth the trip alone,the caves are a bonus.I rushed it all really as I was delayed in traffic on the way there,and wind stopped play around the Head

    @onlywhenpissed Seen it - disaster! that must have been cold? still not over this flu yet and the thought of my head going in that cold water at the moment,does not appeal - to put it mildly!!!!!!!

    @GBPaddling  15 ปีที่แล้ว

    @peterkills Yeah,I've only been the once,and my assumptions were from pictures I've seen at low water,the whole area was spectacular,the birdlife amazing and deafening,another visit is certainly required.
