Thank you. This was exactly what I needed. I’ll buy a maintenance kit next week and my wheel can finally go from being a decoration to being used! It came to me without springs and I knew it wasn’t right but hadn’t found how they should be. I see how it works now 😊
I love my ashford wheel so much and have very fond memories of visiting your shop and Factory a few years ago from here in the north of England. I send much love and thanks for your fantastic equipment. I just completed a weekend workshop learning to use a four shed loom. Such great craftsmanship! Thank you xxx Kate
Thank you very much--it's been a while since I have used my Kiwi--I had the art flyer on/jumbo bobbin, and was able to, very easly, change it back to the regular flyer--but I had forgotten just where the oil should go. I love my Ashford Kiwi ( previously a traditional that I loved but wanted the double treadle and abilility to fold). Your videos are wonderful--love the one on spinning art yarns.
I just inherited this spinning wheel from my Mother and it needs TLC. Your demo wheel is exactly like mine. I found this video very helpful to get my wheel tuned up. What kind of oil are you using?
Just getting back into spinning on my Ashford wheel (bought in 1979 in Canada) after more than 20 years and really appreciate your demonstration, as I'd forgotten some of the points made in this video. I live in France now - what's the best way of getting the maintenance kit?
Hi, the brake band is connected to a hook then taken over the bobbin end and through another eye hook. You can see the detailed instructions on our website ashford.co.nz/newsite/pdfs_assembly_guides/TDSW_20.pdf
I bought an Ashford traditional kit in the early 80s and it has been a good wheel. But now it seems noisy , a bit wobbly, and doesn't free spin well. I've gone over every part but just can't find the source of friction or wobble except the hinges on the mother of all seem loose. Has anyone ever had that problem and did replacing the hinges help?
I'm buying a used wheel, it looks like a single drive ashford traditional but It does not have the spinningwheel brand on it. Are there any other marks that I can look for?
Hey Richard. I have an antique wheel that has clunky wheel syndrome. It wont treadle well. I heard you guys had an ashford clunky wheel kit. I can't afford a new wheel. Help?
The conrold joint on my traditional Ashford spinning wheel is not a strip of leather but a plastic tube which has broken. The tube goes into a circular hole on both pieces of wood and is held there with a screw. How can I get hold of another piece of tube as the maintenance kits I have seen have a piece of leather in them.
all the ashford maintenance kits I've seen come with both the leather and the clear nylon tube. You can buy the tube online just by itself for like $2. just search "nylon con-rod joint"
I just acquired my first wheel at an antique shop. But it's missing some important components; the flyer, bobbins, and the mother of all doesn't look functional. What do I do?!
The con-rod joint on my Ashford broke and I ordered a new one. Now I don't know how to stall it. It will not fit easily into the holes. Can someone give me a hint?
I have an Ashford traditional. My wheel doesn't line up exactly with the flyer when I put on the band, so the drive band keeps popping off after a few rotations. Any suggestions? Thank you!
disconnect the brake band and drive band - tilt open the mother of all loosen the bolts and move the mother of all over to line up with the drive wheel - tighten bolts and try again until you have it just right - good luck happy spinning

Thank you for the great maintenance presentation. I bought my Traveller in the early 1980s, and I still love it.

@hhipple8 Hi, If you are not able to purchase Ashford Spinning wheel oil you can use a sewing machine oil.

Is that a Walter Ashford stool in the picture?

my wife is complaining about her leg getting tired using her wheel. Are the wheels with 2 foot pads easier to use?
She could try the Ashford Traveller wheel it has 2 treadles.
