The Dystopia Series consisting of Scream, Boca and Odd Eye is a commentary against online hatred, malicious comments, cyber bullying etc. In Scream, the imagery of an medieval traditional witch hunt (lyrics such as hands bound, stones thrown, burn under the fire etc, and choreography of surrounding someone pointing at a single person) is used to symbolized such online "witch hunt" which take place today where faceless anonymous people (theme of a mask used throughout the series) just post malicious comments and rumors just to hurt people and perhaps watch the world burn. The song for Boca about them addressing/fighting against such online hatred (e.g. "killer who protects you") and saving both the targets and victims of online hate (e.g. "get the key, I will set you free, follow me closely"), and also saving the haters by "changing their mind" and asking them why they are "filling their precious time with hate" or "words as sharp as thorns, if it hurts you, I will make sure you won't open it". The latter part is interesting to me cause in most discussions about online bullying etc., it is about the victims and how we can prevent it but the conversation about the perpetrator is usually about punishment and cancelling them for the abhorrent actions may be abhorrent, but very few actually talk about changing their minds and helping them reform as their character and actions could also be a result of having a misguided worldview. Officially, odd eyes is about the beauty shown and seen by one eye and the other eye is the beauty within (something to that effect based on interview with one of the member when asked about it). One of the popular theory or interpretation is that it is a social commentary about the media, and users of social media, portray the perfect life with the latter putting up fake personas online where everything is perfect and beautiful (i.e. imagery of siting behind a mask, lyrics such as beautiful scenery, live it up, perfect mirage etc.). As the final part of a trilogy called the Dystopia series which their earlier MVs ("Scream" and "Boca") deals with social media online hate comments, perhaps the need for such fake persona is to defend against the haters online or to reinforce their self worth. Also, the song points out that despite the beautiful front, deep down, , it is a lie and such people could be full of sorrow or suffering to keep up with such a facade to seek the necessary attention. Similarly, the need to seek such attention also attracts hater who will still hate you regardless of what you do or having more success than them. Hence, social media is not the salvation to fight against the inate hatred and ugliness that people have and based on the same interview, the member did said that utopia can only be found from the beauty within, and not what is seen and shown outside etc.

This is easily the most consistent kpop group in terms of quality that I have dived into so far, from my personal experience, the more you dive into this group's b-sides the more you appreciate their title tracks, not that the b-sides are subpar, the complete opposite actually, every single song of theirs is so good that it helps you appreciate how unique their signature rock element is and even makes it endearing, and not to forget an A+ for versatility because their b-sides are full of almost every single other genre besides rock and they carry it out seamlessly, there is near a 0% chance you listen to a few of their b-sides and not like any of what you hear, they are THAT good

If you want another dreamcatcher recommend, "Deja Vu" has one of the BEST bridges in kpop imo

The only bad thing about Dreamcatcher is that they are so underated or underappreciated in k-industry...imagine being so talented but not appreciated by their own industry 😭😭stan DC...
A must see is definitely Deja Vu. It's a masterpiece, just a gorgeous and moving song.
Although their focus is rock/metal influenced pop, they are also versatile! Some of my favorite B-sides include Jazz Bar, In the Frozen, and Polaris. Dreamcatcher deserves so much more hype.

I love In The Frozen. My first favorite b-sides of theirs were Silent Night and And there was no one left. Other ones I love are Red Sun, Tension, Black Or White, and SAHARA.

"she came in and I almost, like, passed out" that's called the Dami Effect, don't worry, it's very common.
The group has 3 members in the official rap line, Dami (deep powerful raps), Gahyeon (sassy raps brimming with attitude) and SuA (low seductive rap), Handong with the deep singing voice is an unofficial member of the rap line at this point and their main vocalist Siyeon is actually counted in the top 5 fastest idol rappers in the entire industry (including both non rappers and rappers) and has a husky low voice when she raps. Both Jiu (super sweet voice) and Yoohyeon (the girl with the cup) also rap on occasion.
Leez and Ollounder are both Dreamcatcher and Ateez producer. That's why they make only bops ! 🥰

Dreamcather Literally is the best. They never miss. And also their Bsides are amazing and most of them have videos. You should check them out.songs like Wind blows/Break the wall/Jazz bar/Black or white/sahara/Red sun/July 7th and poison love are the best bsides

their songwriting team is so good and are definitely not limited to rock and metal! the b-sides sound nothing like their title tracks. also the girls have taken part in the songwriting of some songs as well! would love to see you do a deeper dive someday.

Dreamcatcher's trademark sound is the rock sound but only for their titletracks. Thei bsides are diverse in genre, yes there are quite a lot of rock bsides in their discography, but there are also edm, r&b, citypop, reggae, ballads, synthpop, and lots of other genres. Dreamcatcher is a complete group, they have a great vocal line, great rap line and great dance line. Their main dancer is also a choreographer and their choreographies are really really high level and super in sync. They have great title tracks, super high quality MV productions that focus on storytelling and horror/fantasy lores. Their bsides are diverse as i said, so anyone can find a song of their liking in there. And to top it off, they are amazing people, super funny group, very loud and completely insane. They have great dynamics among each other, and literally are the friendship goals everybody looks for in life.
Since you seem to like Dreamcatcher a lot I would reccomend watching a video called "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher" if you have time. It's not really a guide, but shows a lot of interesting facts about their career so far. I would love to see your reaction to this, but i know that you do only one guide video for a group and you can't really get to know the members through this one. So yeah, if you ever want to learn more about Dreamcatcher, consider checking it out as a reaction or on your own. 💜
Time for the Nightmare series!!!
Nightmare series is like the earlier Dreamcatcher eras. There's more than 3, but the first three are Chase Me (debut song), Good Night, and Fly High. That's the order of release, but if we talk about the order of the story in the mvs, it's Fly High-Chase Me-Good Night. This is perfect for the spooky series, since these are their "horror" eras. It's called the Nightmare series because every member represent a certain nightmare/fear ^^
Hopefully you react to a guide sometime in the future ^^ They are great girls! Their personalities are really nice and fun ^^
They are my new favorite group. I haven’t fallen for a group as hard as this since I first discovered kpop.

Their b-sides often sound nothing like title tracks, so I definitely recommend you to check their album
Especially Dystopia: The Tree of languages ( with title track Screem). This album is genuinely insane and shows Dreamcatchers versatility a lot.
If I remember correctly, you've mentioned that you're not that much interested in guides. However, after checking their b-sides I hope you will eventually react to their guide. Honestly, I'm a fan of a lot of groups and can genuinely tell that Dreamcatcher is one of the weirdest and funniest groups I've ever seen. I know, every group has their own chemistry between the members and Dreamcatcher chemistry is so good and unique.
Of course, I'm not trying to push you to do this reactions, it's just my recommendations.

This girl is the loudest in the group, however, these girls are really talented and versatile, so that they control their voices the way they want, also the rapper with the deep voice will make you really pass out when you hear here very soft angelic singing voice, with dreamcatcher just expect the unexpected. Lol 😂💜
38:15 well, as you said, dreamcatcher did a great job with being coherent with their sound signature and coming up with new refreshing unique songs, there were so experimental since their beginning, and they are doing great with it. On the other hand, their b-sides are insanely diverse and refreshing, they almost have in their b-sides every music genre ever excited, and all of them are greatly amazing.

Dreamcatcher is suuuuch an honestly talented group. Please listen to some of their b-sides if you're interested. They have such a diverse sound, like their songs Sahara, Silent Night, Jazz Bar, 4 Memory, Red Sun, etc are completely different genres... But their quality is TOP KNOTCH. They literally dominate every genre they try.

dreamcatcher are so incredibly good at trying out new styles. if you get into their b-sides you'll find a lot of different genres and mixes of genres and they pull it off every time. I absolutely love dreamcatcher, I'm so glad you're checking them out😁👍

Dreamcatcher does definitely stick to a sound for title tracks but their b-sides are so diverse. Their b-sides are some of the best in the industry in my opinion.
This is a group where ALL members can sing SING!! their talent is unmatched. Even Dami (main rapper) ranked 2nd in a high notes battle between the members which tells you A LOT!!

Dreamcatcher is my favourite group by far. Incredible amount of talent and versatility. Also I think the costume and makeup artists that worked on the “Kingdom” Netflix show worked with DC to make that special clip. I love the that version of Boca, but man some of the zombie make up is creepy.
Dreamcatcher's songs have, and always have, never disappointed me from their debut up until now, and I could confidently say that they would probably not release a song I would skip if it played.

I highly recommend their Tree of Language album! Even though their title tracks are very rock-based and for some people that can be overwhelming, they balance it out perfectly with their b-sides. Definitely should check it out

Yay! Thank you for checking out Dreamcatcher again! Watching your reaction was so much fun! You were right, it is Siyeon(she-yon) hitting those high notes in BOCA and it was Yoohyeon(you-hyun) doing those really pretty runs in BOCA. BOCA is Spanish for mouth so they were saying they were going to lock up the mouths of those spewing hate.
The tree at the center of the Dystopia Trilogy is the Tree of Language. You can see in Scream one of the girls accidently breaks a seal that unleashes all of the hate-filled words from the tree that had been locked away. In BOCA they began to fight against all this negativity. And in Odd Eye they realized that their own actions had become just as toxic as those they were fighting against because they fooled themselves into thinking that they could create Utopia around themselves but that was just an illusion, a lie that they were telling themselves. The end of Odd Eye is their realization that the Utopia they seek can only come from within.
Dreamcatcher is having a Halloween online concert on the 30th 3pm KST called Midnight Circus! Tickets are still available at Mymusictaste! You might not know all the songs but there will be a live band and their sure to do covers of songs you might know! Plus, they'll be in full costume so I highly recommend checking it out now that you are no doubt a baby InSomnia! ^_^
