Modern municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill facilities are generally designed with a barrier system involving a composite liner system, which are used in combination with final cover systems to form the waste containment. The base liner system includes one or more geomembrane (commonly high density polyethylene, HDPE) layers overlying a compacted clay liner or geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) and a leachate collection system. A landfill final capping system employing an HDPE/LLDPE geomembrane overlying compacted low permeability clay soil or geosynthetic clay liners (GCL) is commonly used when infiltration to the waste mass must be held to an absolute minimum and to ensure a more effective control to liquid and gas transport.

They are the lucky few. A large majority live in camps, some of which have existed for decades. The world’s largest, Dadaab, in Kenya is full of Somalis who fled the endless civil war there. Guled came to the camp in 2010, aged 16, after a terrifying journey of hundreds of miles, in flight from the extremist group al-Shabaab. He was born in Mogadishu at about the time two American military Black Hawk helicopters were shot down among the tightly packed houses of the Wardighley district of the city. Jubilant crowds had dragged the bodies of several US Army soldiers through the streets. The US and UN withdrew and the world washed its hands of the country. During Guled’s childhood, Mogadishu’s beautiful boulevards, its grand mosques and cathedrals, its ancient Omani, Portuguese and Italian waterfront and sparkling white villas had been reduced to rubble thrice over. Growing up in a country without a government, in a permanent state of civil war, Guled learned to go with the grain. "The main effect of the war was to inoculate Guled against ambition. His priorities were playing football and staying alive" He was a slight boy with a narrow head that tapered to a pointed chin. His eyes were black and quick; they missed nothing and betrayed nothing. By adolescence, both his parents had died, the city had changed hands more times than he could count and he had perfected the art of looking nondescript. He still lived in the family house with his sister and a collection of other children whom, one by one, the war had orphaned. They survived on the little money his elder sister made from selling biscuits, cakes and sweets, and, when she could get it, petrol. The main effect of the war was to inoculate Guled against ambition. ‘I don’t have dreams,’ he would say, conscious that his life choices up until that point resembled more a series of lucky each-way bets. Guled’s priorities were playing football and staying alive.
thats a great video modelled on how they do things in Australia and the Uk, europe, US etc. Are there any plans that you know of for the implementation in Indonesia? What costs? what is the landsite required to do this. Currently in indonesia I see little evidence of of a smart system like this being used. Let's hope the government utilises your great work..
We have a landfill that has gone out of control in the UK, very high levels of toxic H2S are covering hundreds of square miles, we know the base has lots of gypsum from the previous operator, plasterboard might have something to do with it but they changed the use and domestic waste now goes on top of this and we think this might of been the mistake, any ideas?
Glass is the only cost effective recycle product. Can be used to make insulation for houses on cheap terms. Many nations that boast high rates of recycling such as Sweden end up burning the majority of their plastic recyclables in waste to energy power plants. The waste to energy incinerator is the best method, as it gets double usage of plastic and uses the energy to heat homes.
is it possible that landill sites can be converted to agricultural land? I hope someone could help me for this, cause its my thesis proposal. THANK YOU!
@@sillyom7071 on the contrary along with compostable waste there is a lot of toxic waste that goes into these landfills, such as batteries, harmful chemicals, and lots and lots of plastics. And though some plastics are biodegradable most are not.

Benefiting people after 7 years even.
Stay blessed!!!!!🥺❤️

Less landfills, more recycle, less polutionfor residential recycle, you can check out at allcanfresh, No smells, no fliers, no maggots, no worries

Renz dela cruz Do you wanna kill the plant? Or - better yet - kill anyone who eats them? The soil from a landfill is filled with toxins.
hey it's absolutely possible!
the bio degradable waste will decompose and benefit the crops.(Don't listen to the other idiots)

Wow nice ploy
Probably pretty useless, since all waste end up in land fill. That means all the garbage are not at all re-cycle.
So why does the trash need air????
+ufa kefe so aerobic and anaerobic bacteria can break down the material
+ufa kefe for biological degradation
Bacteria helps with decomposition. As something decomposes, the bacteria releases gases, those gases need to be vented.
to get aerobic digestion
wer is the HDPE lining???
GOOD
I am a manufacturer of landfill liner.I can answer the video viewers in detail about the size of the landfill liner installation, price and life.
Plz share your knowledge am student of environmental engineeri g
