My husband's funeral last year, began with the beautiful and ethereal "Pie Jesu". This is the most beautiful Requiem I have ever heard. I also selected " The Lord is my Shepherd" from this album to play. I can't begin to describe what peace and comfort it was for me to hear this gorgeous music and know that my husband was with God. This is truly God's music.

The Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town South Africa of which I am a member are singing the Requiem at one of the Oldest church in South Africa De Groote Kerk on Saturday 3rd March 2023. It stirs me to my inner being everytime we rehearse a piece. John Rutter whom I met is such an extratordninary modern composer. All his music is of exceptional quality.

I first heard this Requiem performed in St. Hildas church on West Cliff in Whitby. I was completely blown away and bought all my friends a copy because it was and is so beautiful.

This piece is truly in a class by itself. The text is perfect for the musical effect in the unique style of John Rutter. It is a spiritual bouquet to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one.

I remember singing this in high school. Almost 30 years later, I still mostly remember it. Love it.

During these difficult times we need to pray or meditate. I cannot meditate nor can I concentrate to pray. I have always listened to this John RUTTER album, which I’ve had since 1989. You would think a Requiem would be very sad and not something you would care to concentrate on, but this is so beautiful it makes me feel like I’m ascending into Heaven. Seriously, this is my way of praying since it is mainly scripture. It’s impossible to find this in CD (mine is vinyl) so this is perfect. Thank you so much and God bless you.

I just thought that I would share that Cathedral Shop in Down Cathedral sells CD'S of John Rutter's Requiem. If you email the Cathedral I'm sure that you could purchase this CD directly from them! I really like singing John Rutter's Music. May God Bless you as you listen to John's Music!

Great music has the power to life our hearts and souls. The time you spend savoring Rutter's music is a form of prayer in my opinion. Every Good Friday, I listen to Bach's St. Matthew's Passion. Best to you.

After the Faure and Durufle Requiems, I think Rutter's seems to form a natural third in a triptych of sorts. The Sanctus and Lux Aeterna are very beautiful to me.....and I'm not even particularly theistic.

I am only familiar with this one of the three. I will have to check out the others. Thanks for the recommendation.
