    Well, Miss Gorgeous, two really great projects back to back. First, the reloading bench and now this thing. Great work.

    Grounding. Good tip. Mine gets staticky in the winter so I ground the tub and hoses to prevent dust fires. Great build. Use the shavings under the landscaping wood chips. Keeps them in better, keeps weeds down better.

      How do you ground plastic?

    • @AB-nu5we
      @AB-nu5we ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joeicehockey Run a copper wire inside the tubing, fastening it to the tube anyway you want occasionally. Make sure one end of it eventually drags on the ground. There are several kits out there for doing this very thing if you good it.

    My favorite money saving tip for the shop is switching from incandescent or halogen lights to LED lighting. Probably the best return on investment of any improvement I’ve ever made.

    Why put a 10 inch piece on the outlet? That just means your bucket cant fill up very far before it starts sucking dust anyways. Just put a 90 degree elbow on both pipes on the inside, and make sure they are facing the same way on a circle. That way dust comes in, and the second one will only pull the air

    Nice project. I would recommed to use a hose clamp driver instead of screwdriver for the hose clamps.

    Pro tip: run the drill in reverse when cutting the hole in the lid.

    Which hose goes to which?

    • @flysubcompact
      @flysubcompact 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one that "diverts the intake air in a circular motion" (one with the elbow 90) would be the where you'd attach the operator end of the hose. The other goes to the vacuum.

      Disagree Alan...certainly not ridiculous ("ridiculas" as you stated). It's much like the kit you can get at Rockler or Woodcraft. It's not a Dust Deputy or Cyclone but it will certainly work well for what it is. I've used produced separators and home made ones. I made two similar to this...one with a 10 gallon canister and one with a large trashcan. I used the Rockler kit for both. They separate about 80% of what I create...especially larger chips like the ones my thickness planer spit out. Something like this isn't what Norm Abrams would use...but it's pretty good for most hobbyists and homeowners.
