  • I had Drivetrain service request on my BMW 225xe.
The official BMW service centre diagnosed problems with Cell Module 1 and recommended to replace the whole battery for approx £8,000
I found a used battery on Ebay for £1200 and replaced it in Cleevely Motors for £600.
Then I disassembled the high voltage battery and found a problem - one cell of 80 is bad.

Nice video. Having the same problem on my 225xe from 2017. Struggling to find a company to do the same work in Portugal.

Thank you for the video, I would have loved to see where the battery is stored. I have a BMW 225xe and the battery is probably not good anymore as I can only drive a few kilometers using electricity. Do you know how to check the modules remotely using ODBII?

Hi! I had the same problem - just few kilometres on electric charge. There are options to check the battery health using OBDII, but I don't know whether they show voltage on each individual module.

After replacing the high-voltage battery, it must be registered in the car's on-board computer? Was it easy for you to get it done at the place where the replacement was made?

Yes. The service center did coding.

Hi Nail. Nice video. Which company change the battery for you please? And do they require coding for changing to bigger battery please? Thanks

Thanks for the video! Do you know which batterypacks are compatible? There are F05 (For BMW 2 Active Tourer, 7 kw/h ) and F48 Battery Modules for x2 and 10 kw/h which look exactely same. How wan the battery-pack be removed from the car?

I used F45 model battery. As the battery is very heavy and difficult to remove - it's better to find a proper service center.

Did the garage have to do any coding to get the car to accept the higher capacity battery?

Yes. They did the coding, but I don't what software they used.
