  • The actual author of these are a mystery, as it sure ain't Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon
    The A side seems to sample the Buffalo Bunch remix of Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better.

    • @T2a585
      @T2a585 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnsysChannel What are White Labels exactly?

    • @JohnsysChannel
      @JohnsysChannel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@T2a585 They are records that haven't come from a record label. So they don't have the name of the record label or artwork on the vinyl itself. Most of the time the labels on them are just blank and then written on in pen, or a sticker with the tracks info is put on it (Hence the white label term) A lot of the white label records are bootlegs using samples of other songs that haven't had clearance from the original artist. So by keeping the labels blank of any incriminating information, then it's harder for the authorities to track down who's behind them.
      If you look at the Valerie track on this video, you can see that the label is white, but it has had the information printed onto it. I've had records that I've bought in the past with literally nothing written on them. You only know what it is when you play it. They'd sometimes write the name of the track on it in pen, or just put a mobile phone number or an email address, I've got one where they just wrote the name of the track on the sleeve. You'd go in the record shop, and they would have them on the wall with a vague description of what was contained on the song, or a bit of spiel about what sort of track it is. Without naming what the big sample was taken from specifically. It wasn't legal, but it probably wasn't a big enough crime for it to be targeted by the filth. In the end it probably helped the original rights owners, cos I'm sure Steve Winwood and his record label made shed loads of cash from the Eric Prydz "official" release of the song.

      I’ve just been learning about the way that phonograph signals are processed between the cartridge and the amplifier. Apparently, the signal coming from the cartridge is very bass heavy and a proper phono input applies compensation to balance the frequencies’ relative gain. So if you do something like plug a phonograph into an amplifier that has no proper phono input, you get the result of a very unbalanced, bass-heavy signal. I’d venture to say that’s exactly what we’re hearing on the audio of this video.
