/// As always, Grumiaux's playing is a perfect delight for the ear - he seemed to have an uncanny ability to find just the right balance between classical restraint and romantic expressiveness, which suits this music very well indeed. The slow movements (particularly that of the E minor concerto) emerge as some of the most beautiful music ever written, filled with a sense of nobility and wonder; whilst the allegros are spun off with tremendous verve. For the double concerto, Grumiaux is joined by Hermann Krebbers, and the interplay between the two could hardly have been more perfect, especially in the finale which gathers enough forward momentum to leave your mind reeling long after the last chords have faded. ///

This is how Bach should be played... the tempo, the phrasing, the dynamics... all perfect. This recording is one of those performances that you would pay anything to have witnessed in person.

Oh ! how beautiful Bach No.1 it is, graceful bowing articulation! especially fruitful sound is so charming.
One of the best versions of this concerto, i feel like others are played a bit too fast. This tempo is just right.

No any other violinist in the world's sound quality, phrasing, dominancy and sonority count to my ears when Arthur Grumiaux starts playing the Violin; No doubt he was the BEST Violinist of the 20th Century.

I performed this 9 years ago at my recital when I was 16... that was during my "prime" and it was so much fun to learn. I'm revisiting this piece again almost a decade later and luckily I can still play it. The string crossings in the third movement are so fun to play.
It does sound like a perfect performance of this masterpiece. I reckon Bach would have been proud to listen to this wonderful recording. Arthur Grumiaux is supreme! Such poetry and beauty.

There is no doubt that Bach's keyboard arrangements of these three pieces date from his Collegium musicum years, when he turned the A minor violin concerto (BWV 1041 - this video) into a G minor harpsichord concerto, the E major violin concerto (BWV 1042) in a D major harpsichord concerto, and the D minor double violin concerto (BWV 1043) into a C minor concerto for two harpsichords. Beautifully played! Thanks for posting.

I got the middle part now. Adult learner with lots of wrist problems. She will be able to do it too in some time. Is she happy with her instrument? 6 years is still so tiny. Must be frustrating to want that sound but having to play on a mosquito with a nose cold....
Took me 1.5 years to begin bwv 1041 playing around 3 hours per day on average. Twoset need to do a video on me.
