Here in Kunming many places go bankrupt because the rents are high and the profit margin is low. This is common throughout China.
Wanda Plaza in my city is about one year old, and business is very bad. Many shops have closed. It is beautiful, and many people come to look, but nobody is buying anything.
Same story here in Changsha. They were all bankrupt from the start. Wanda CEO could escape abroad with his wealth I think?
Or he might have given 60% to the Chinese gov so that they let him go.
It is a bit "funny" just 1 or 2 years ago all was about this man. Life changes quickly.
Definitely looks like a place I'd enjoy having a beer in.
Yes a very nice place and you would certainly meet many cool foreigners. I wish I could go there now and then, but I would need some excuse for Wen... ah ah :-)

I like the market - and agree it is likely to be destroyed soon because it is old. A pity they can't simply upgrade it a bit, but keep it much as it is.
Yes I think it is because there is this idea that "we shouldn't show THIS, it is dirty, it is blood, it is animal cruelty"...
It doesn't make sense.
Yes it should be modernize and also in a way that you have less animal suffering whenever that's possible.
It should be clean.
But it is tradition and life. They should keep it, rather than hide it in some city suburb... (or like in France behind closed doors).

Ahhhhh, I knew that some words look like the same but pronounce in different way , so interesting. I think,when foreigners learn Mandarin, I think the difficult part is tone , in the Mandarin , there are four tone.
