I test drove the 2016 Kia Sorento 3 days ago and here is my feedback:
    1) The interior styling is excellent and very premium feeling. The seats are very luxurious, the best I've experienced on an SUV this year and I've tested out several including the 2015 Toyota Highlander and Nissan X Trail. The 2016 Kia Sorento beats both SUVs in terms of interior styling and technology.
    2) The steering has totally changed. The steering is now on the heavy side which is good since it gives the driver confidence. No more numb handling seen in previous Korean/Japanese SUVs.
    3) The AWD powertrain is amazing on this SUV. Makes it a very satisfying driving experience.

Marcus Jensen The interior styling and AWD powertrain on the 2016 Kia Sorento is the best in this class. The leather seats are super luxurious, more so than the Toyota Highlander. The interior design team at Kia needs a pay raise!

My buddy picked up an SX-L 2.0T and after driving it, I'm in love with this car. Yes, a lot of people will critique it for being a Kia - the company does not have the best reputation for building quality vehicles (cough cough my first car, a 2003 Kia Sedona. Yikes). However, the fit and finish on this car is excellent. Great materials throughout the cabin and on the exterior. The car drives smooth and there is a lot of power with the 2.0T. If people solely look at this car and think, "Oh it's a Kia, it's not worth a shot" they are totally wrong. And yes, I'll admit resale value for this car will probably be crap based on the marque alone, but for a lease, I can't see anything wrong with someone getting one.

The build quality of KIA cars are amazing. They use POSCO steel and magnesium, the same grade steel they use for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
KIA is actually involved in defence manufacturing and manufactures armored vehicles. I would trust my money on them.

Kyle Cordiano what this fine sir pointed out is that the company has evolved, at one point in each companies life they’ve made unreliable cars. Kiss currently are very very reliable, but in the past that may not have been the case.

I've driven the Sorento and was really surprised! Interior quality was great, ride quality and noise level felt like the last generation X5 (haven't driven the new one) however, it does lean a bit in hard corners, which I'm sure they will improve now that Hyundai\KIA snagged BMWs M suspension guy. Since the 2010 models they have been steadily improving their quality, finding out where they fall short and stepping it up. This is not KIA of 10 years ago, they are vastly improved. In the last 5 years, they have been changing people's perception, in another 5 they will be much different company. The company have been getting some new blood to change their design and performance. Can only mean good things for the future.

Objectivity is something I like (and hope for) in a review and Redline Reviews comes close to achieving it on a consistent basis. As a 2016 Kia Sorento owner (EX AWD 2.0 Turbo) I can confirm that this is, by far, one of the most objective reviews I've seen. While it's certainly true that the new 2.0 Liter Turbo engine isn't as 'sporty' as some drivers may have expected, I find it slightly more fuel-efficient than is being reported and a lot more fun to drive than the 3.3L V6. I'm averaging 22.2 MPG (combined) and depending on the fuel, it can eke-out a little more at times. I traded a 3.3 V6 Hyundai Santa Fe for the Sorento and haven't missed it much. Maybe I would miss it more if towing had been a priority but, it's not for me. I use the tow-hitch mainly for a bike rack. I have few criticisms of the 2016 Sorento and even fewer criticisms of Redline's review - if you live in the DC/Baltimore corridor, you'll definitely be able to relate.

I like the new Sorento, I rented a 2014 LX I4 FWD (5-Passenger) model for a trip this past summer and put about 1,000 miles on it... while comfortable, it was a bit boring to drive and a bit underpowered. I think the new 2016 Sorento is a good bet, especially with the 2.0T I4 engine.

I just drove a Santa Fe, and I have to say that Hyundai-Kia still has some ways to go to convince me that they can make a car that can handle. The car was fairly agile but it also felt much too soft and as if it was going to roll over, IMO.

I gotta tell you Sofyan, kia should probably consider replacing the 6-speed automatic with a different one that's more responsive and has more gears. That will give the Sorento better fuel economy.

    • @amininshassi6370
      @amininshassi6370 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Or if Kia wants to keep the 6-spped automatic, then they should reprogram the transmission to be more responsive and rev lower.

They need to fix the front USB plug, it doesn't charge my iPhone 6 Plus if I'm using my map, the screen basically has to be locked to get any charge which isn't much. It's keeping me from using the full use of the UVO like the parking feature. I don't like the trajectory rear camera(don't have the 360). I wished they gave a option to make it stationary like the 2014 Sorento was. Besides those two issues, I really like it. Good quality, not paying for a name. After going to the Washington auto show, I realize high end or not, the gap is very narrow with features nowadays.

U can buy a mid trim mdx with that money. Although this cars interior probably won't be any worse than the mdx with the exception of better leather and genuine wood trim in range topping mdxs. But the two cars seem to have good materials on the same touch points inside the vehicle. In my opinion it still be better than buying something like gms 7 year old platform like Buick enclave chevy traverse...etc.

Lose the "fisheye" lens for the drive-by shots...makes the vehicles look distorted. Finally, please settle-down your interior shots...induces motion sickness.

Sunethra K Get the 2016 KIA Sorento or 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe, they greatly improved the handling this year instilling a more confident and responsive feel. The Toyota Highlander this year has poor transmission and handling. It feels like you're floating. Avoid the Toyota Highlander.

You will regret buying a kia, you will not with a pilot. The used car world will tell you that the resale value for these Kia Sorento's is completely trash. Our $36K+ Sorento that is a 2011, is currently worth only $5,000. It has less mileage than my 181K 2003 Honda Accord, which is worth more... That is nuts.... The Honda Pilot will hold its value... KIA... will lose almost all of its.
