So excited when I saw this video pop up! Great take and such an interesting lense to watch The Tudors through. Also love how you pronounce "monasteries" 10/10
I love this scene where she’s saying “ good night “to the children. It’s like, so sweet and it shows how good a mother figure she was to them. Catherine parr had her obvious favorite in Elizabeth but she cared about all of them
good timing! been rewatching season 3 & 4 the past weeks, the series has its faults but some of the acting is superb and some of the interpretations are interesting and (in some cases) likely accurate. Thanks for this :)
Before I watched this series when I was young, I was so supportive of Anne Boleyn and just Anne Boleyn but specifically the way they portrayed Catherine Howard made me think about it, she was acting like a stereotypical teenaged girl. She was a teenaged girl who was manipulated by everyone in her life. I also watched this show for the first time when I was 16 or 17, so I could easily put myself into Catherine's shoes and related to her.
I love the transition at the end of s2 showing how Henry got Jane to come to court and how the writers show how both Jane and Anne’s families (well the men of the family) used their prized precious daughters and exploited them for power only. Well after Jane passed her brothers held court until their heads were gone as well. All these women patriarchy figures let them down even Katherine’s uncle smh
I find it interesting that henry threatened jane when she tried to speak up with remembering what happened to anne, That makes me feel like that. The reason he had her executed was because she meddled in his affairs.Or at least that's what he calls it or else why would he say that to jane? Thoughts??
She’s not going to forget that abuse. It’s that very abuse that made her so twisted as a queen. Jane was kinder to her than Anne Boleyn. Jane straight up ignored Elizabeth. If she was invited to court for the holidays, it wouldn’t have been Jane’s idea to invite her. I liked to think Jane would have sent a necklace to help her get clothes but I don’t think she did
Here I’m like “ Mary, your stepmom is trying to set you up! Don’t be ungrateful “ thing with Anne of Cleves, she had to have been the first stepmom to show interest in both the girls. Mary butt heads with Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. Catherine probably got along better with Elizabeth and Catherine parr had interest in both of them
We need a Catherine Howard movie that does her justice. She was victimized by powerful men and certainly was not the vixen that the Tudors portrayed her as. Six does a better job.
I don't think she would have been his "favourite" queen if she hadn't given him a son! And that was another thing them making Jane the perfect woman! At least for henry! She did the same things anne did! And wasn't it historically Catherine Parr who brought Elixabeth back to court life? Not Jane?
Anne’s mention of Catherine Howard shows that rare instances of true compassion but she was angry for her cousin and how Henry had treated her
I loved this series. I feel that this show did a good job at making you care about each Queen. I was always team Anne Boleyn.

He was very much a fair weather husband, father, friend, whatever. He liked you as long as you played by his rules.
Loved this discussion & breakdown of the last seasons.

Mary’s like “ yeah okay. I don’t care.” She probably knew that Catherine Howard was Anne’s cousin and got a little ptsd from it.
I agree that another Tudor-related series would be refreshing, with good casting and more accurate storylines!!

He was a narcissist! In the fullest sense of the term. He didn’t care who he hurt. Even his children

I never caught that before. Excellent point.👍🏻

This is cradle robbing territory at this point.
It was supposed to be the Tudors, but stopped at Edward, Mary, Jane Grey and Elizabeth. Henry treated his sister Margaret terrible.
