    He didn’t show it, but the other half of the cabinet in the cabin has a full library of field guides for reference- because his wife is a nerd.

    Cool little trailer. I like the idea of having the kitchen outside so that grease, smoke and cooking odors don't cling to the curtains, bedding and especially any radio equipment inside the trailer. -- K7SFA

      I considered building one, but by the time I buy the tools and materials, not to mention by time, it would have been cheaper to buy one.

    Whats the MPG pulling that? KF0HRF SCOTT

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without the trailer, my Outback gets about 28-30 on the highway. Adding the trailer the mpg drops down to about 19-21.

    I built the tiny trailer myself ..... really like it ..... even after 20 years and 80,000 miles later =) Build your own for many thousands less =) Something you can do during the lock-down periods .... buy materials needed as you can now an build while locked in =) Thanks for sharing Micheal =)

    Cool trailer. I like this minimalistic design. Less is more. You can pull this trailer with most cars. Thanks for the tour!

    Thanks for the trailer tour! Do you store it outside or inside a garage in winter?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From about mid April to early November it sits in our driveway, but for the Winter it goes into the garage.

    How does the stuff on the top shelf not fall down when you're traveling or anything in the Kelly not fall down? Does the angle of the hatch keep everything secure?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hatch does a pretty good job at keeping things on the shelf in place when it is closed. But if we go down a bumpy road things will get jostled around; they generally stay on the shelf, though. I've seen some people install a bungee on that shelf to keep things in place.

    Thank you for the tour ( : Do they come with the rods that the curtains and the blanket in the back are hung on?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The curtain rods were an option, I'm not sure if they are now standard or not. The curtains themselves were custom sewn by a seamstress friend of ours.

    How did you run the transceiver cable into the trailer?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I operate inside the cabin I just keep the door cracked and run the cable through that.

      @@KB9VBRAntennas I'd imagine someone could have them put passthrough in the side, if you wanted though. That's probably the route I would take.

    Any issues with condensation?

    • @KB9VBRAntennas
      @KB9VBRAntennas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All teardrop trailers will experience condensation when the outdoor temperature drops below 40 degrees. If we keep a window partially open and a little fan to circulate the air running, then it isn't very bad.

    • @jolebole-yt
      @jolebole-yt ปีที่แล้ว

      The company that makes the trailers offers window mounted fans as an option.
