Amazing reaction! I think this is such a perfect song that represents this era of her career. Take yourself back to 2017 (the year before the album came out) and 2018. Leading up to this release, Shether dropped and Cardi B's popularity was on the rise. People were so sick and tired of Nicki winning for a whole decade plus that they were searching every where and any where to support someone else just to spite her. And it wasn't just the people - more importantly, it was the industry. Nicki was so adamant on the contract she signed not being a 360 and her reaping the benefits she's brought to music herself and not the record labels. Every record label wanted to take her out so they can monetize on all the success she's brought to female rap. They organized a concerted effort to get rid of her. In the beginning pretext, she alluded to people conspiring with someone close with her to take her down. It is believed that this was her management team who were leaking things to Cardi's team and Atlantic Records (Cardi's label) to intentionally sabotage her. They also were paying DJs to stop playing her music which is why she was blackballed from radio during this time.
The start of the second verse was her response to the industry trying to prop up Cardi - someone from a reality TV show who was openly proud of not writing her rhymes but also trying her best to copy Nicki's career. The second verse's message is clear: no matter how much you try to dress up these new girls and throw them big budgets and trying to copy her style/hair/persona - they will NEVER be her and will always be a cheap copy.
One cool thing that I don't really see anyone talking about (so it might not be true) but if you re-listen to the first verse where she says "Double back, kill bitches, bury the body" -- the way she pronounces "body" sounds like "bardi" which is Cardi's nick name (she's a blood).
Excited for the journey you'll take with this album! I'd love to continually provide context for certain songs/moments during this era!

It was meek that got with remy told all those lies for sheather so the could usher ole girl in. That made Nicki even Stronger and the barbz more powerful than ever. The industry lost so much trying to get rid of Nicki. Atlantic announced they was losing money. And they needed to let artist go.

that beginning paragraph was a reference to what she was going through at the time, people were spreading rumors back and forth about Nicki, and she hadn't spoken up about it to defend herself for a while.

The queen era was so unfortunate for Nicki because it started very well & slowly just got messier & messier, this song got leaked and a few others as well which ruined some of the hype & luckily most of the people that worked with her back then are now fired. The drama covered this era in the worst way but i think it’s next to pink print as one of her best, theres maybe 2 songs that i could do without and thats it

React to some latin music, TQG music video by Shakira and Karol G is a great start, they will perform at the vmas tomorrow
You should try to react to the vma's performances or the whole show since Nicki is hosting it this year 🙏

Listen man, you havent experienced Digga D yet, or at least not enough. He is lyrically insane and so underrated. Digga D has been to jail a bunch of times and is on a criminal behaviour order that directly controls and censors his music according to what the Police deem. He was given this CBO when he was 17, along with his whole group (formerly 1011) who had to rebrand because of the CBO and they go by CGM now. Digga D was one of the pioneers of the uk drill scene (Greatest example is 1011 Next Up song) they were bringing a sound that was authentic to the culture and also brand new, with some of the most violent drill lyrics starting in 2016/17 (way before mainstream drill especially uk). Through all this adversity and hardship it allowed him to grow into an artist with crazy wordplay and a very versatile rapper. He was getting 10 mil+ views on UK drill songs before 2020, that is insane for the market UK drill has in general, especially at that time.
Recommendations - Next Up 1011, Daily Duppy, Woi, Play for the Pagans, No Hook 1011, Bringing it back, Bluuwuu, STFU

React to Luca Brasi 2 by Kevin Gates. If u like YoungBoy, Kevin Gates is from the same city and had been out years before YB. He's had alot of influence on the rap game and is top 3 out of Louisiana of all time.
