She developed a better relationship with him in her adult age. I think the documentaries My Time Now and My Time Again would be great for you to see the personal side of her. I used to have nightmares as well by my dad hurting my mom. It's the childhood trauma he put us through. And I had dreams of hurting my dad. I definitely understand Nicki so much. We didn't know what was going on because we were so young... but you understand when your mom is feeling pain. I used to locked myself in my room to get away from my parents arguing. The "pillow/blanket over your head" line brings back so many memories.

Cuz god knows I was better than that.” When I first heard it, it sounded as if she was feeling guilt over the situation, hence “and I don’t pat myself on the back for sending you back GOD KNOWS I was better than that.” Later on she says “how tf would they know what I was ready to do?…” which can mean she thought about keeping it at a young age but was ultimately pressured to abort. 😢
