arithmetic sequence is repeated addition, basically think midpoint in terms of addition, half of something; the arithmetic mean between 2 and 8 is 5 because 5 is halfway between 2 and eight (6 is range), divide by 2 (mid) you get 5. also, you can do 2+8, total of two numbers, and divide by two.
