- Kids from our residential society came together to make a replica of the grand Vijaydurg sea fort this Diwali. Killa making or fort making has been a tradition of Diwali for the last many decades in Maharashtra. Kids come together and put together a fort while engaging with mud, stones, colour and the clay idols used as figures to be placed on the fort.
This is especially important for today's kids who are busy on the TV or mobile devices and it was heart warming to see the kids get their hands dirty with the mud and stones. Parents of the kids enjoyed this journey with them and the end result was a sight to behold. This killa also won the first prize in the killa making competition organized by our society.
Hats off to the kids and their parents for engaging in such a wonderful activity that keeps the traditions of our region alive. It also helps us remember our great king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who kept this great land of the Deccan safe from the atrocities of the Mughal king Aurangzeb. I am yet to know a king that is so loved by his subjects even to this day.
Jai Bhavani!
Jai Shivaji!
