Bix Beiderbecke taught himself to play the cornet when he was in his teens and died in 1931 at the age of 28. During his brief career, he became one of the true sensations of the 1920s Jazz Age, unforgettable to anyone who ever heard him.

Always loved Louie's punching gusto filled style. Bixes style had the sound of those to come in the 30,40s and 50s like Bunny Berrigan and Bobby Hackett.

Bix’s family was supportive of his music overall, especially his brother Burnie who managed a local record store for a while.
There’s a longtime spun dramatic story about Bix’s unopened records being found in a closet of his family’s home. I believe this circumstance was taken out of context just to make a story out it, personally.
