Always loved Louie's punching gusto filled style. Bixes style had the sound of those to come in the 30,40s and 50s like Bunny Berrigan and Bobby Hackett.
Bix’s family was supportive of his music overall, especially his brother Burnie who managed a local record store for a while. There’s a longtime spun dramatic story about Bix’s unopened records being found in a closet of his family’s home. I believe this circumstance was taken out of context just to make a story out it, personally.
Been out to the Bixfest six times. Loved every second. Thanks for putting it on! NH
Am a big fan of Bix, my father s favourite. Sad story.
Thank you ❤
superb!
Thank you once again for your great videos! Never heard about this guy before....
I would still love to see a video about the life of Grant Green. 🙏🍀
Thanks !
Way ahead of his time. It's so interesting that he knew Louis Armstrong, two greats.

Armstrong's memories of playing with Beiderbecke are on TH-cam.
There's some interesting Bix material in Mezz Mezzrow's book, Really The Blues.
Cool.
Thanks for sharing.
I listen to him...
Oh thank-you Alexander*
That bass drum head is awesom
If Bix's father had supported him he would have lived longer, rather than drinking himself to death. Such a great lose to the music world.

So he was a pedophile and an alcoholic, and it's all someone else's fault? Grow up.
If you’re feeling blue, Bix will fix it.
