The Ugly Truth About Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Dampness and Mould

  • This week I want to discuss something called: Dampness and mould hypersensitivity syndrome (DMHS) and how this is related to exposure to the indoor air dampness microbiota (DM). There have been two papers published in the last 6 months that demonstrate in two different workplaces (Hospital workers and Police officers) how their respective buildings that had long-term water damage and mould were associated with very different symptoms when compared to a control group of people who hadn't been exposed to the water damaged buildings. These results should help anyone who is (possibly) having trouble explaining to others about the risks from water damage and mould. The papers go into detail showing how cardiac problems as well as symptoms like multiple chemical sensitivity are very strongly associated with exposure to these toxic environments. I hope you can use these easily obtainable papers to help you convince others that mould & water damage MUST be taken seriously and not dismissed. The data shows there is a causality between exposure to dampness microorganisms (DM) and the prevalence of multiple chemical sensitivity. The authors conclude that adverse symptoms after exposure to DM can occur together with a range of other neurological symptoms and fatigue and is not a medically unexplained syndrome or a functional disorder. Next time, someone tells you it's all in your head about your mould concerns, please cite this video and the research it's based on.

    This is a long one y’all….
    What an awesome video to bring to light especially the correlation of MCS and a mold sick building. Three years ago I lived in a 200 year old farm house that had been in the family for generations and within 4 months of living there I became severely ill. Prior to this I was extremely healthy. Hadn’t even had an allergy a single day in my life. Some would say I had to much energy and certainly no neurological issues, but boy did all that change. At the time I was hopeless and didn’t know what was wrong but then a light bulb went off in my brain, something I had read a long time ago and I just knew it was mold. Thank god at the time I was already living a very holistic and natural life style years prior. A pretty simple diet, used all non-toxic products in my home. Never used any kind of synthetic fragrances in any of my home products, laundry soaps, shampoos etc and the list could go on. I went from being extremely healthy to housebound. I couldn’t handle any type of chemicals around me at all, the neurological symptoms were crazy, the internal tremors were like I was holding a jackhammer, ear ringing became maddening, I would taste metal, God there’s probably like 20 more symptoms. If anyone’s reading this and suffering and living in a hell on earth which i used to call it in my time of desperation, I’ve been there and you can and will heal. It takes A lot of time and a lot of PATIENCE. I’ve been out of the house for almost 6 months now. We had 4 types of toxic mold. I have healed leaps and bounds but I also want to state that at the time there weren’t and still aren’t any mold literate doctors in this little ol’ farm town. No one was coming to help or heal me and heck I hadn’t even been to the doctors in years at that point. It was at that point where I thought I was literally dying and I could feel sorry for myself or try to heal myself. I probably read what seemed like a million book’s, surprising I could retain the information like I did considering how screwed up my brain was at that point, thank god I could. Books on everything from mold toxicity, heavy metals, environmental illnesses, allopathic medicine, holistic medicine, how to heal our bodies at a cellular level, the most amazing book on our gut and the gut brain connection, air quality books, water quality books, things that people don’t think about how powerful and amazing ozone can be to heal mold in your sinus cavities in a doctors office in a controlled environment but if you have an air purifier with ozone on it, it actually suspends the mycotoxins in the air and can keep you sick. That’s something to keep in mind, I made that mistake, I use intellipure air cleaner it’s amazing. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!! If you were or have been exposed to mold sick building but you left and your still experiencing symptoms and you’ve healed a lot but not all the way then in our mucosal layers (Nose, ears, gut, lungs etc) are MYCONS that are hanging on for dear life causing havoc especially in our sinus cavity that colonize deeply and you have to break them up and get them out (saline rinses with grape seed extract essential oil..1 drop and build up tolerance, strong stuff) also if your experiencing bad respiratory symptoms while still in the environment boil water and add 5 drops Thyme essential oil, drape towel over head and breathe in for 5min and work up to 10. That’s why healing our body as a whole is so important. Mold sickness is real and your not crazy. To each their own but I will say I think a huge reason why my healing is happening so quick is because A) I got out of the environment. B) I was not on a single medication prior or even now. I tried to be as healthy as I could and a lot of that gives you a leg up. I am in no way a doctor just a well informed gal, not trying to treat anyone. I know in today’s society most people are on antidepressants, blood pressure meds, eating like crap and all of those things come in to play when you’re trying to heal your body just keep that in mind. Sending lots of love, prayers, and all the healing vibes!!

      Thankyou Amy, I've been dealing with MCS and MCAS since 2021. It started after I got the cvd19 vax. But I also had been living in an old moldy apartment for one year prior to getting vaxxed. I move to a dry clean place 7 months ago but am still experiencing symptoms to chemicals and smells . I must say my sinuses , lungs and gut are out of control so I will absolutely try the GSE nasal rinse. I ate healthy and clean for 15 years and am only taking antihistamines. Is there anything else you can recommend me to do to clean out my system? If not can you please tell me which books to buy that you found out helpful? Thanks again 🙏🏽💓

    I'm hoping I can share my experience and symptoms here... as I believe, after a moth of self evaluation and trouble shooting I've narrowed down my severe health problems... and this video get as close to describing my problems.
    5 months ago, I moved in to a 100 year old east coastal home (canada). The main our had a damp dirt filled crawl space beneath it. The vinyl plank flooring doesn't have a moisture barrier under, and actually has old (original) carpet. I'm sure it's full of mould. I'm gutting it tomorrow.
    Well within a month of moving in, I started getting headaches, then the nausea, the the dizziness, confusion etc. Turns out a frying pan I was using was putting g off dangerous levels of VOCs.... I only caught that after air quality testing and noticing spikes during cooking, with that specific pan, also my symptoms got the worst then. So I ruled the pan as the source of all my problems... not the house anymore... pan is gone... and my symptoms are not nearly as hospitalizing anymore, however when I sit in my living room (with the bad carpet under etc) the symptoms come back slowly.
    Not it's more acute and I can get a real grasp of what's happening. When I'm in this room my left sinus cavity feels inflamed, then I get pressure behind my left eye, then the never above my eye up to the top of my soul hurts, feels inflamed. And the smells drive me nuts during this (what I'm calling neural inflammation). I believe that the dangerous levels of VOCs I was exposed to for 3 month caused damage or over sensitivity to my olfactory nerve... and now any exposure to VOCs or harsh chemicals cause a nerve response in my head. (I also have occipital neuralgia, so there may be a link)
    But wondering, will this reverse and heal? Does this hypothesis sound plausible. I've ruled out alot so far and I'm fairly aware of the variables.
    I'm also experiencing heart problems, and chest pains, increased blood pressure during longer exposure periods.
    For example, I wanted to play some games online with a friend, so I endured the "odour" and symptoms that started to build up, and played for 4 hours. That evening my blood pressure rose to 200/117 and I had to call the paramedics.
    Could this be something completely different? Or are these experiences and symptoms in line with DMHS or hyperosmia, etc?

    Thank you for this video. I am self-diagnosed MCS with sensitivity and, in some cases, allergy to mold, mildew, and musty environments, as well as olfactory burning, nausea, and smell sensitivity to a variety of chemicals including petroleum based scents in laundry detergents following living in a finished downstairs that flooded on multiple occasions while I was living there. I only discovered the conversation about MCS after scouring the web for explanations for this group of symptoms. I now wonder whether arrhythmia I had in 2021 was related. In any case, I appreciate that research has been done, and thank you for discussing some of it here.

    It is true that mold is one of the worst problems for MCS patients. Possibly all of them. A person with MCS should never live in a peer-and-beam house or any house that has a mold problem. But MCS will probably not go away when a person gets into a safe house, at least for anyone who has become sensitive to other typical chemical culprits.

    • @dianeibsen5994
      @dianeibsen5994 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you tell me why not a peer(sp?) and beam house? and what do you mean by this? What is it about it that causes more mold? It would be really helpful if you didn't poo poo safe housing. at least it's a step in the right direction! and we need steps in the right direction. Does this make sense? We need people on our side taking steps in the right direction.

    • @donscott2681
      @donscott2681 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dianeibsen5994 A peer-and-beam house is any house built without a concrete slab. When I was at the Environmental Control Unit in Dallas, Dr. Rea told me to get away from the city. That was the stupidest advice he could have given, since most affordable rural houses are old and built on peers. That creates a cool dry space under the house. It had an oak slat floor, so no barrier as underlayment. So I installed UV lights on the joists and sprayed the ground with chlorine (using a gas mask) to make it less habitable for mold. It didn't work at all. I woke up every night in a puddle of sweat. I got down to 125 pounds. The mold was literally killing me. Finally, I gave up, told my wife we were getting a divorce, and planned to kill myself. She suggested I go back to Texas Tech to finish my graduate degree since I had nothing to lose. So I grabbed my reading box (I built and sold them) and headed to Lubbock. The first week was rough, but after two weeks I felt better than I had in 2 years. This was because I lived in a dorm. Zero mold. I finished my degree in one summer session and led a very successful life in Silicon Valley, before having a relapse in 1999. I know what I'm talking about. I got sick in 1978 from a massive overdose of R12 Freon (monodichloromethane), then Spectracide. So, you can spare me the finger wagging. MCS that is severe and longstanding is generally not curable or even treatable. Save your money. Stay in the city in a house that has a slab. In the country you are subject to herbacides, pesticides, diesel, etc. I even got hit with crop dusters. It was terrible. You want concrete and glass, not mother Earth. If you get in a bind, breath through your mouth since the olafactory system sidesteps the blood-brain barrier. I benefitted greatly from high doses of Neurontin (gabapentin) combined with a normal dose of Effexor (as a catalyst I presume). It was administered by Dr. Seastrunk. He is surely dead now, but you can google his name. He worked on the premise that MCS and CFS are brain damage. Gabapentin is a very safe anti-siezure medicine, so it reduces neuronal kindling (look it up).
