- Labour's stance on Gaza, and a backlash among some of its traditional supporters, is already becoming a hotly contested issue in some of the party's strongholds.

The Parliamentary constituency of Birmingham Ladywood has historically been one of Labour's safest seats - since the 1940's.
In 2019 Labour held onto the seat with a 79 percent share of the vote and a majority of 28,582.
But this year Labour faces a challenge from an independent candidate who's made Gaza a major plank in his campaign.

Email your candidate. I told them that I wouldn't vote for them if they didn't back an immediate ceasefire and they agreed with me. If you want the party to change it's view then make your voice heard, and make sure to elect candidates that support that view.

I thought the same. It could be that as a lawyer he knows it's a really sticky situation. How much you can spend is a weird system based on how many votes you get in the future. You can end up inadvertently spending too much and breaking the rules. It's not the most Draconian of systems (looking at you USA) but we don't have the most liberal system either.
Rather him being dodgy, I suspect he was just caught on the hop and hadn't a polished answer for that question.
As far as I know a candidate has to declare the total amount if donations and if any cone from an organisation, but individuals who donate don't have to be identified.
@scooby1992 there is an upper limit of how much an individual can donate without it being declared. I think its something like £500 or something but it may have changed. Generally people try and keep under the limit so they aren't listed (especially if controversial).

I'm not religious or of colour but have a moral compass, heart and empathy... labour do not, it is not only those of muslim faith they've lost it is all people who care. That is near 75% of the country.. Snp's ceasefire vote in November showed us who cares. Goes for Tory and Lib Dems also. Westminster should be ashamed. This is not a religious issue, stop making it one.

@@phoque121 There is a genocide that the party in office is supporting. The opposition party started by supporting it. When they realized it was unpopular they adopted a neutral stance. Most of the world recognises this as a genocide. You do not have to be muslim to see this as a genocide and be repulsed by the fact that our government supports it.

Labour has lost my vote for sure
I voted for Akhmed Yakoob as a protest vote. The more I get to know and hear from him the more I dislike him. That interview was very telling in how he’s using Gaza for his personal advances in politics. The fact we couldn’t find anyone better is exactly the problem with UK politics.
