- SOLD This W220 S-Class, a 2006 S-350 Sedan, is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 and coupled to MB's bulletproof 5-speed automatic. This is a Short Wheelbase version, and the V6 provides enough torque and horsepower to move it down the road adequately. It drives like an E-Class, but has the prestige, equipment, and safety of an S. The 6-cylinder versions of the big S have always been amongst my favorite cars, and one of the few I would use as a daily driver. This particular example is a beutifully preserved Florida car with low miles, and nicely appointed.

In 2022, I purchased a 1owner 2006 S350. Impeccable. I love it! Driving through Anaheim CA, at 2am, a group of thugs tried to rob me. From a stand-still position, I gunned the pedal, and within 2 seconds the engine growled like some monster metal beast, and 3 seconds later I was 8 blocks away! I'll never forget the feeling of this engine stepping up to the plate!

This is the standard and normal wheel base, the long is extra feature and standard on v12s
Mark Benzos the standard or short wheel base was a 1 year only thing I believe for this 350 model. All the S430+ models from 2000-2006 came standard with the Long Wheel Base in the US. Just like the 221 and 222 are LWB only in the US. Canada used to the get more of the SWB models and did so with the 221 S450 which wasn’t on the states.

This is a nice looking car BUT it has nothing on my 2001 S430. My car should be out of the shop this week. It has been in restoration for 6 months and it is coming out factory new. I loved the burgundy deep red. I had the car stripped all the way down to the bare metal and brought back to the original spec that it came with. All the upholstery has been replaced with the factory original style and color. Every thing is perfect and with the light miles on it it will last me the rest of my life for sure. I have all the paperwork on the car since it was new from Miami Every oil change, tune up, and replaced items. The only thing I that most people would not is I kept the original air system for the suspension. I did replace all 4 air shocks and the ones I found are actually heavier and better quality than the original. So before you spend thousands to replace the suspension with regular go on line and you can find NEW not rebuilt for under $500 for all 4 with an outstanding guarantee. Same thing with the head light assemblies they are not worth "cleaning" when you can replace them for around $200. I am looking forward to the first test drive of a Mercedes as I have only owned Lincolns all my adult life and this was a dream of mine. I bought it and drove it 17 miles to the restoration shop and that was before everything was working as new. In case you are wondering the cost of restoration was right at $10,000 and $5700 was for the paint job alone. So in conclusion when you run across a nice car like the one here check it out and spend your investment wisely

Nice car indeed. I have in other moons rolled in the S 500 W220. It was a great car.
I admit that the S 350 offers a better cost / benefit ratio given the lower consumptions.
MBs were never the same after the W124/126, that's when the accountants started calling the shots and quality and durability went downhill.
I Always hated W220 but Bills makes some good points

This S class has that unique low swooping look to battle the full size jaguars of this era. The designers felt Jaguars styling success of the previous generation was cutting into sales that Mercedes should have been making.
From this design we were given the "worlds first four-door coupe"... the CLS.

I just sold my 2006 S350. Owned it from 35k to 120k. Lots of repairs. Used oil and eventually found oil in the transmission (not worth repair cost). Wouldn’t buy a Mercedes again unless it were something truly special.
They probably have the best transmission ever made by any manufacturer. If its the w220. If its the 5 speed. The later 7 speed had some initial problems when it just came out.
Uhm those ugly chrome door handle "protectors" or whatever. I just sold mine since it uses fuel like a V8 in town...

It's true. I love getting into my 2001 e320 even though it's not in near as good of shape as this s350 and has a lot more miles on it.
@@wernerdanler2742 used to have an 89 300CE with 75k miles on it, even after installing H&R Cup springs, it still rode like a cloud. Super comfortable, old style still had springs in the seat bottom cushion.
@@FCT8306onTwoWheels mine is a 'sport' model so it rides pretty rough but I still love driving it and I drive as fast as I can get away with on the freeway.
@@wernerdanler2742 I sure miss the comfort those cars had. Definitely would give it a shot with the V8 equipped model, had a bad experience owning an automatic four cylinder Honda and wow it was suuuper boring. No power, and no fun factor at all unless it was floored. Handled pretty lame too for a newer 2012 car. Switched back to a 2001 CR-V with awd and a manual transmission, fun factor is back! And it even gets better gas mileage than my former car did even with more weight, awd and age. Anyways, that's my story
@@FCT8306onTwoWheels I've owned lots of cars since the 1960s. One of my favorites was my 1985 300d turbodiesel. Ran like a top and had 280k miles on it when I traded it off for an Audi A6 quatro 2.7 litre twin turbo. Hated it. Speaking of 4 bangers. I did have a 3 door Tercel back in the 80's. Drove the piss out of it lol. I can no longer go out and buy any car that takes my fancy and then buy another 6 months later when I've fixed it up and gotten bored with it. This e320 is going to have to last me quite a while.

I wish I lived in Naples. I got my start detailing cars for high end dealers, and moved up through the shops from paint and body, the mechanic shop, and upholstery and aftermarket installations. I’m retired now, but I could come back, if it was for a shop like yours. Young people have not the same appreciation for fine automobiles as an older, more experienced person, that’s for sure.
