    This is that,
each jurist/faqih from among the madhahib of the Mujtahid Imams (Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Malik, Imam Shafi'i and Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal Rh) practised their ijtihad (as when necessary to exercise such a tool/instrument) in accordnace to the usul-al-fiqh of the Mujtahid even when a ruling in one particular madhab was or is different then that of the Mujtahid Imam of that madhab himself
(Example: The Imams of the Madhahib are the Mujtahid fil-Shari'/Mujtahid Mutlaq, while their learned scholar-students being for example a/the mujtahid fil madhab, (they/the fuqaha of diferrent levels)would still adhere to the usul al fiqh of the Mujtahid Mutlaq himself, thus any variation in each faqih's ruling to one another is correct having 1 or 2 rewards, and such valid differences is a mercy to the Ummah)
thus maintaining the validity of the principle to derive to a ruling in their/ of their respective madhab,
therefore the muqallid (of laymen and ulama of different levels) of each madhab of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamah(Sunni) have adhered to such taqlid for over 12 centuries, and this is the Saved Sect (Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'at/Sunni), as being the way of the Sahabah('s aqida & fiqh) in preserving and safegaurding the Sunnah of RasulULLAH SallaALLAHU Alayhi wa sallam i.e. in protecting the proper amal and eman/creed of the Muslimeen in accordance to the Quran & Sunnah (via the interpretation, understanding and guidance of a/the Mujtahid Imam himself, as they inherited such ilm from their predecessors who got it from the Sahabah as they [the Sahabah] were encapuslated with the Sunnah of RasulULLAH S.A.W as [them] being the Suhbah receiving Sahabah radiaALLAHU Anhuma).
[i.e. no mixing and matching between the madhahib]
Is what his excellency, the/our blessed noble Shaykh's words said (technically, thus the 'wrong' as mentioned by the Sayyidi Shaykh is regards to the 1 reward, thus by technical contradistinction is the simplest way to say it), yet not limited to, a wonderful beautiful reminder, alhmadulillah.
    And ALLAH Knows best.

*Mufti Muhammad Sajjad writes that sunni scholars practised taqlīd of the four schools, he says,*
.....that practically all the thousands of famous ḥadith scholars (muḥaddithūn) and jurists (fuqahā) of the Muslim Umma for the last one thousand years followed one of the four imāms, finding themselves compelled to submit to their awe-inspiring intellectual rigour and insight.
This is a fact attested to by the most authoritative books of ḥadīth criticism and Islamic history, such as Imam Al-Dhahabī’s Siyar Ā‘lam al-Nubalā and the various other biographical compilations (ṭabaqāt and Kutub al-Rijāl). It is startling to find giants in Islamic scholarship, such as Imāms Yahya bin Sa‘eed (see Appendix for more on this Imam-Muhaddith), Ibn Ḥajar, Dhahabī, Ṭaḥawī, Rāzī, Jaṣṣaṣ, Nawawī, and the list goes on endlessly, all adhering to one of the four schools.
Clearly, it is also a great testimony to the true humility and fear of Allāh of these great men that despite their own towering statuses as muhaddithun and jurists, they were ready to admit that others had greater knowledge than themselves and thus they followed them. Just as this speaks volumes about them and their real humility, it also reveals an alarming danger for any sincere Muslim concerning himself. Namely, if it was a mark of humility and the fear of Almighty Allah that compelled them to choose to follow one of the Imams, then surely rejecting taqlīd of the imāms, may be evidence of the pride lurking within a person.
What else could lead a person to view him or herself competent enough to abandon taqlīd, and deduce their own laws, despite being hindered by a long list of deficiencies, at the top of which is not being able to understand Arabic?
Pride, however, is a disease that for the earnest believer cannot be tolerated at any expense, for the Messenger of Allah a said: “A person with the extent of a grain of pride in his heart will not enter Paradise.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)""

Nevertheless, when His Excellency said "wrong (re. 1 reward as it is still.correct)" and then the Honourable Shyakh breifly explained, or (for an jurists opinio) that which is "stronger" (in evidence) to gain the 2 rewards.
This is to clarify the indpeth sacred i'lm the Shaykh spoke in a simply way for all to be able to digest and understand Islam.

One more matter to clarify, My comment is not to imply as if the Hinourable Shaykh spoke sinple Emglish, nope, rather of very eloquent English and the point We was making is the teaching method in a simplified way for the understanding of all, which in itself is complex (to simplify and complex matter) of which the learned will have a stronger understanding.
      And ALLAH Knows best
