What a gift this video and interview is to us. Robert Byrne was one of my favorite songwriters ever, and there's NOTHING online about why he was found dead at 50 yrs. old. To say I was overjoyed to find Phil's first album was produced by Robert Byrne is an understatement. Phil's a monster talent and songwriter who dove into the music business like the Quarterback he was. Total immersion, bought a bar, learned his craft like the Tom Brady of songwriters with singular focus. When I met Robert once at The Bluebird, his humility and sweetness shown through, even though he was a multiple-hit songwriter by then in the mid-90's. I mourn him, too, Phil.
