I’ve never understood why people look down on this way of life and people who choose to live it. I was born in Hazard, my father and both grandfathers were coal miners and, while I’ve lived in Ohio the majority of my life, I’d be tickled to slide back into the mountains and woods if given the opportunity. My parents left at my mother’s insistence because she was afraid for my baby brother to grow up to work in the mines. She’d already lost relatives there. I don’t fault her for that. Thank you all for these videos - they’re great! ❤️
I hope Uncle J.D. sees this video. I love my uncle, I’m so glad I was around him growing up. I can remember so many times going fishing on the river banks. James.
Thank you this was fantastic my uncle taught me and taught me the right way planting berries and only taking older plants love this glad I found your video
My parents were both from Eastern Kentucky they raised six kids working hard and teaching us all right from wrong. I learned more from my parents on how to survive and make ends meat and those lessons keep me going in the rough times today. Wes I wish you a successful ginseng season and many more.
From Rockies to Appalachians. There are people who have the same gut feeling . They can sense something is coming swiftly. And a massive change coming with it.
Thanks Wes for that great story. I’m an old Michigan boy so this was real interesting. I’m 65 now and have more time to travel on my Ol Harley and been to Kentucky a few times. I stay off the beaten paths much as possible. Love the small mountain towns and the folks I’ve met.
Awesome video Coyote's! I hadn't seen any ginseng for years! My Dad used to harvest it when I was a boy but we ended up moving and I never got into it. Really brings back memories! Thanks for sharing this story with us! Great to see the stories of folks living the good old Kentucky life!👍
Yes, sir I understand the coal mines in hard times. Worked on Cole mines eight years. Risk your life every day most people and nothing now you and your family.
John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The biggest part of it is to make sure there isn't a single clue you were ever there in the first place. You can't have a trail where you went cause poachers, still operators and the growers won't be so nice if they cross paths. Always protect yourself, don't do anything that affects a sole negatively and look out for kids, animals and those that can't look for their self and you should live a decent life. Sometimes it don't matter what you do in life, it can go south in an instant for everyone. No one is above being destroyed so make a difference for the good of others.
I remember bunch a years ago in ashcamp area was going in elkhorn creek soft crawdad hunting for bait. Ran into a game warden there checking. so they were around. Im from round the hellier, allegheny, hardwood area.
Hopefully the northerners moving here who don’t know anything about living in the mountains and doing it respectfully will take care of the resources and not plunder them, taking and not giving back the way coal operators and lumber companies did and still do, show respect
