I would think that the OD and outer faces of the inner and outer lips would be what you’d want to true the wheel to. Same idea as bicycle wheels. The barrels aren’t machined surfaces. So, it’s wild you were able to get them as rounded up as you did! 👍👍
Wheels look awesome mate. I've got a set of OZ ACS type 2 splits on my E34 M5, rears are 10.5"x17 and fronts 10"x17 took some work to make them fit though, mine have the external bolts, not the recessed ones. Are yours made by Ronal Phil, edit they are Ronal!

At least we get to see that big smile on both your faces when doing this cannot wait with antisipation for the 10 into one headers maybe a glutten for punishment sign on the work shop wall or at least one for craig. It's rare to see those AC wheels on an E46 M3. Usually people just put CSL wheels on, so it's nice to see something different. Phil , did you ever consider going with any other type of famous BMW wheels, like Alpina's you would find on the Z8/Alpina Roadster's?
I dont think the wheel barrel is completely uniform being that it is stretch aluminum, but i have no idea but is it rubber you putting around it and a tire can move a 1" or more side to side when driving and turning so it may not even matter.
I recently painted my Kranze LXZ's. They were hyper chrome and the plating was flaking and coroded. Took me 8 hours to scrape the insides of the bolts and polish them alone. I used high build primer and sanded them smooth, to blend the peeled and pitted parts. I dont expect it to last, but wasn't going to spend the money to powder coat over the chrome.

Sitting in the conservatory trying to watch this video in the blasting sun was bloody difficult.... untill i went into VR mode with a headset to combat the sun and go full geek
I have had a issue with a few OLD old wheels from japan that had gone porous or the seal band had dried out and was weeping but even then it’s no worse than a slow puncture. A good refurb sorts it. Just don’t make the mistake of using tiger seal or anything else super strong if you kno they will be disassembled again in the near future. It won’t be fun

Carbon collective... the ceramic coating made the finish of the polished lip "hazy", then you guys used their polishing compound which after first rip Jay says "we're going to be here a while"... then we never get a finished closeup post polishing which leaves me to believe that carbon collective products are poo.
I'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion. Their products are awesome & once the imperfections in the lips were polished out, the wheel protector was applied again and looks awesome.

Agree, not sure why he was trying to get the centres perfect when the tyres sit on the front and back faces.
Obviously I checked the inner mounting face. It was determined by how well the centre lined up though. Get it right there and it's right at the inner.

How often in general do split rims have issues with leaky seals, or is it usually a do once and forget about it job?

There isn't any engraving. I think it was a sticker that was lacquered over.
