Great work, Daniel. There are a lot of other cheaper snares on SW. I'd love for you to do a comparison of maybe the 5 cheapest snares on SW for a future video.
Man you're totally right! I put this in my comment, but when I pulled the trigger on this review none of those Mapex snares were visible or maybe I missed them! When I was looking, outside of odd sized snares, the Tama and Supralite were right at $199. But there ARE cheaper snares out there that may also work!
@@DanielBernard get a "griffin" snare drum and make that slap (45ish$)
Guys, I gotta be honest, when I pulled the trigger on doing this review, outside of snares that were odd/not normal sizes, this snare was right at the bottom of the price point. None of the mapex snares that are on there were visible or I could have completely missed them! There ARE other cheaper snares on Sweetwater, when I was looking a couple months ago I missed a few. The title/content of this video wasn't meant to be misleading or as clickbait, sorry about that! I'd be happy to talk about some other snares if y'all would like to see some. But, I still think this snare, for one of the lowest prices of a standard sized snare, is an incredible value!
Check out this snare here! - imp.i114863.net/2rxOyO Turn your notifications on! I’ve had people tell me that TH-cam isn’t showing my videos in their feed when I post them!
I’ve got links to all my gear in the description of this video!
Daniel, please fix that link. It's broken. Thanks!
Supralite is a hell of a snare for the price. When I play mine some of the wild overtones get lost a bit thru the mics and it records better than it sounds in the room. Great video. Thanks!
I did a recording session recently and I was using the kit that was at the studio. The snare was a 6 1/2 supralite and it sounded excellent.
I have a 8x14 with remo p77 and ambassador snare side with 42 strands and sounds amazing, great video keep it up it sounds great
Try a 6.5 x14 yamaha stage custom ten lug steel snare with a reverse center bead drum.sounds good and is less expensive buy them used on guitar center used gear.
Great suggestion! Thanks for watching!
Also have a 70s ludwig snare, love it.
Just ordered my tune up kit. Looking forward to the hearing it on my pearl snare.
It's so cool, lol. I had never ordered one before.
@@DanielBernard the video does a great job but still doesn’t quite do it justice for the sensitivity. LOVE THIS UPGRADE!!!
the supralite snare have "tube lugs" I have that drum in all three sizes one of my favs!
Thank you, lol! I knew that, but for whatever reason I was escaping me that day. Thanks for watching!
@@DanielBernard Absolutely brother! I very much enjoy the content.
Tube lugs!
But yes I was debating between this snare or the superphonic, but as mentioned the big brother is pricey 😬
Bro!!!!! Smacking legit!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 how I can get the newsletter??? Thanks appreciate! 🙏🤩
I have this snare in my sweetwater cart, but the Mapex mpx snare is on Sweetwater for $159.99. I would love to get your opinion it. Maybe a review?
Yeah, especially since Daniel plays a Mapex kit.
This is known to be one of the best sounding affordable snares in drummer circles
Can confirm, just upgraded to a Universal after years of service. The chrome plating peeled off after living in a humid practice space for some time, but that was not a show stopper until the G.A.S. kicked in again.
Just found this snare used on sweetwater for $150, changed up the heads and wires and it absolutely slaps my friend. Added a BFSD Steve's donut to it too and 🤯
Die cast hoop upgrades are a game changer
I actually tried some die cast on this snare. I honestly didnt like them on this so I put the orginals back on.
@@smitske1990 oh fr? I been upgrading my snares to die cast for more crack! But to each their own
i remember having this snare and the throw off would come undone everytime.
Throws can be replaced. Lots of good options as long as you know your hole placement.
Those are solid drums
Thanks, Karl! By far my favorite finish Mapex has ever made, and the perfect sizes for my taste!
@@DanielBernard 🤘
12:33 Every drummer has done this at least a dozen times. 😂
quick question , Are you a LEFT handed - RIGHT footed drummer ? i've been following you for a while now . im just amazed !
Cant imagine a snare sounding much better than that
Would you use this snare in a church setting?
For sure! I’m sure I’ll be using it soon and you’ll be able to see/hear it in context
Nice sound.🔥
Tube lugs I believe
Eventually, I’d get a new throw-off for that snare. Ludwig in general does not make very good throws imo (including the Black Beauty surprisingly). Cheap snares almost always have cheap throws. The only exception to me being PDP snares. They all come with DW’s MAG throw.
Could you do a drum cover on Days of Elijah next?
A snare is a snare is a snare. They only get away with one snare being a hundred, and nothe being 800, because we believe they sound massively better.some do. it's more about the particular drum itself, the tension and the heads. Every snar can sound great if you know how to coax it.and sure brass, aluminum etc can be coaxed easier. That's without a doubt. But a snare is a snare at the end of the day.ths is all you need. And that coming from someone who only has a pearl sensitive, a Yamaha stage custom, and am acrolite snare. I think a 8x14 supralite is in my future though. when it comes to gear: spend time, not money
Still a LUDWIG.
It helps..
Love it!
The question is... What is a good sound??
O vídeo é bom demais!
Mas pena que pra realidade brasileira é bem difícil você obter essa caixa. Ela custa em média por volta dos dois mil e quinhentos reais. Uma total tristeza aqui.
Lo siento, amigo!
They’re tube lugs
They are tube lugs
Thank you! The name escaped me that day lol.
This is not the cheapest snare on SW, in fact the snare you choose is one of the most recorded snare ever. Any cheap drums can sound great with better heads, good tuning and if using a microphone you can tweak the sounds. Plenty of 200 dollar snares sound great.
Hey man, you're correct! I'm sorry, as I stated in my comment on my video, when I worked on this project outside of the odd sized snares, this was neck and neck with the Tama Metalworks as the cheapest on site. The Mapex stuff wasn't listed and there may have been sock stock issues. If you've got a snare you'd like me to feature let me know, would be happy to!
It's the little bro to one of the most recorded snares but not the supraphonic
Correct, he’s thinking of the Supraphonic, this is the Supralite
