They're wonderful! I'm fascinated at how the face can be broken down into triangles and refined with even more triangles. Your control of the blade is amazing. Thank you for sharing these rustic fellows.
Hi Gwynn... Thank you so much... Yes, I was surprised just how many triangular cuts there were... I still need the cut gloves though.. it's so easy to slip... My pleasure... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
Hi Andy Great little project for a winters night by the fire, great results thanks for sharing with a good commentary explaining all the cuts Stay safe over there Regards from NZ

Always so relaxing watching you work and always a great result. This may even inspire me to dig out the bag of basswood blocks and the carving tools I bought a few years ago and have a go.
Hi Myk... Thank you so much for your kind words... Yes.. please do get carving and don't forget to wear your gloves... Send me a picture of your work... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
They are lovely. I would end up with just a load of small bits of wood that wood need a Wizard to cast a spell to put them back in the right shape. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw
Hi Huw.. Thank you very much... Haha... perhaps you could make one of your matchstick creations with them... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Very cool. Really appreciate that you did the voiceover and explained what you were doing at each step of the carving and what the result of that cut was intended to be. It's always a pleasure to see your artistic creations. Thanks for posting
Hi Mark... Thank you very much...It's great that you are enjoying my videos... I'm glad to hear that you liked the voice over.. I think that I will stick with this format in future videos... My pleasure... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
Many times, right after I watch one of your videos, I end up my workshop. This time was another one of these instances. I went, picked up a piece of chestnut and a knife and made my own "Gandalf". As it was a first one it took me a bit more than 15 minutes, but I will practice to get there 😁 Many thanks for the inspiration ♥
Hi Hanapa... Nothing pleases me more than to hear that my videos have inspired someone to get out into the workshop and create something... Please send me a picture of your work... my email address is in the description... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hi Keith... I'm glad that you have enjoyed this one.... Dougs videos are great... Give it a go Keith, it really is great fun... Wear the cut gloves though. Send me a picture of yours... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
Hi David... Thank you very much, I'm glad that you liked them... I would love to see some pictures of your whittles... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
Why is my basswood always harder than yours? Nice carvings Andy and explaining the cuts is really useful. Mine would probably end up as 2 or 3 hour cross eyed wizards with wonky beards. Are you demo-ing at Stock Gaylard in August?
Hi Colin... I used to think that about my Basswood... haha... It does vary though.. I have had some hard stuff in the past... It doesn't matter about the length of time or the result, just how much fun you had making it... No... I hadn't heard of Stock Gayland before I looked it up... Looks like fun though... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
