@@xZyun just buy an augmentor from the g/e stick it on your tool or weapon and go do other skills. invention is basically a passive/background skill thats the best way to look at it imo
@@xZyun Yeah, I was lost in the same way until watching multiple guides (including this one!). You've probably figured it out by now since it's been six months, but for anyone passing by - buy an augmentor, stick it onto a weapon, fight enemies with it, unequip it, disassemble it, and then you get your invention experience. Most guides I've watched have said that "skillvention" is the slowest way of training invention and the quickest way will be attaching augmentors to combat items, fight enemies with it, and then disassembling all the equipment. Later on in the skill, there becomes an option to siphon an item rather than disassembling it. At this point in the skill, you were leveling up the item, taking it off, and then disassembling it thus losing the item for the invention experience points. Siphoning an item gives you fewer experience points, but allows you to keep the item, stick another augmentor on it, and continue earning exp that way. This way you don't have to purchase another weapon/armor - you just have to purchase the augmentor. That handles the leveling portion of it. The other portion which was also confusing to me was obtaining parts, but I thought of it like loot boxes when disassembling items. You won't always get the components you need when you disassemble an item, so it's best to disassemble in bulk until you get what you want. Once you get enough components of what you need, then you can create what you need to create at the Inventor's Workbench. Perks work in a similar fashion, but I've already written a ton and there's definitely better guides on here that explain it more in depth. tl;dr - stick augmentor onto combat items, fight things, unequip, disassemble/siphon, repeat

When making a prototype always aim to make "Perfect" when arranging the parts as this will give you the max amount of xp from them. Being you can only discover them once and they typically give large chunks of xp I highly recommend doing this and saving them for dxp weekends for the greatest gains.
I just hate how I have to come back to this vid every once in a while. I learn about invention and get burnt out eventually only to come back to RS and have to learn all about invention again.
Couple things worth mentioning: - XP capacitors, though expensive, will literally double your item XP and therefore invention XP. They can be purchase from the GE and will last for 100k charges. Do note that if you die with one of these on you, no matter where (unless it's a safe minigame/instance), it will be lost and not able to be reclaimed. - At 120 archaeology, you can gain around 800k invention XP/hr by siphoning a mattock of time and space at level 12. This is a very fast and profitable way to train invention to 200m XP.
I finally decided to start training invention but it was so confusing that I had to look up a guide. After watching your video, I'm still confused and overwhelmed so I'm just gonna go back to doing anything else.
As someone who barely plays runescape, I wish this was even more in depth. Took me a bit to realize that you have to get augmentors before you can level you items up, and the weapon has to be tier 70+. So for the first part of the guide, you can buy augmentors on the GE and crystal halbard is a cheap T70 melee option. This is shown in the video clips but it wasn't vocalized.

They do not. Invention works on DXP, but only for discovering blueprints. You gain 1.5x item experience on DXP though, which means you can get to level 10 faster. You do NOT gain any bonus xp for destroying augmented items
I have absolutely no idea what is going on. I feel like the parts about unlocking stuff and how to put perks on weapons and how that whole process works was glossed over too fast. Maybe the real reason is that this video just taught me a lot of terminology that I didn't know and then you used that terminology alot so I got extremely lost.
Like I understand that to level up you need to put perks on a weapon by "augmenting" them which you need an "augmentor" for. You gain this exp by "disassembling" or siphoning. They also need fuel to run which is "divine charges". I have NO idea how you unlock these things tho. The whole invention workbench and randomly changing position of things and like adding components randomly to some Minecraft Crafting Table was gone over too fast like i already was suppose to know what's going on.
best way to look at invention is as a passive skill. you cant really "directly" train it. you attach things to tools and your weapons and armours and they level up thus giving you invention exp. once you wrap your head around this idea invention becomes a lot less confusing imo
Yes and no. You can save them up in your bank but during dxp weekend items level at 1.5x normal speed. The amount of xp you get from siphoning/disassembling is the same.
how do you get the black salamander to level 5? a better break down with the early level say 4-27 would of been really helpful for new players such as myself.
Important Note: At 3:52 he creates the blueprint at Very Good. This, while increasing the base blueprint xp, shouldn't be done and you should always keep moving the components until you get Perfect. If you stay at Very Good you miss quite a bit of xp at higher levels.
@protoxx between weapons and skilling the amount of exp is the same. I leveled a blk salamander to 10 and got 490k exp. Did the same with a hammertron and received the same gains. Am I missing something ?
those skilling tools count as the same tier as the black sally. Higher weapons would get more XP. Also it's faster to level items with combat than skilling

8:50 table is actually misleading, because you d/a and siphon different tier of weapons, tools and armour which are different xp rates
Yes and no, in the video I do state that people should be disassembling lvl70+ gear
@@ProtoxxGaming obviously because you cant augment gear lower than t70 xd
Thanks!
question, can I save my crystal halberds in my bank, then disassemble like 30 of them in a row when next dxp drops?
Yes and no. You can save them up in your bank but during dxp weekend items level at 1.5x normal speed. The amount of xp you get from siphoning/disassembling is the same.
How do you augment an item at level 4? it just says you can't auygment it.
If save my augmented armor until dxp it will be doubled?
Jesus, I was just about to search this
Just in time =]
how do you get the black salamander to level 5? a better break down with the early level say 4-27 would of been really helpful for new players such as myself.
Kill stuff. Just like the leveling method examples
Edit: typo
@@ProtoxxGaming ahh so simple 🤦♂️ thank you mate, love your videos.
Important Note:
At 3:52 he creates the blueprint at Very Good.
Why didnt you tell ppl about capacitors? They’re amazing …..
It'll take 6.5 days to buy all the crystal halberds since you can only get 2 every 4 hours...
