Both Nash and Dipper post-retrack are noticeably smoother and more enjoyable, you might want to give them a go again! (also avoid wheel seats if you don't want to die)
Basically it's any seat on a coaster car positioned directly above the wheels. On Big One and Nash, rows 1 and 3 of every car are wheel seats, on Dipper and Nick Streak it's rows 1 and 4, on Icon it's the rear seats, and on Revolution it's the front seats. Avoid those, and you'll have slightly smoother experiences.
I rode infusion when it was at Southport as the traumatizer I found it relatively smooth or didn't notice because we went on it five times in one day. King Solomon's mines that was a really rough ride especially if the other person you got put with was also tall. I didn't enjoy the corkscrew at Alton towers found it really rough
I am a skinny scrawny bony guy. Steeple Chase at Pleasure Beach is a torture device. Every turn was agonizing. I did it for the first and last time three years ago. I literally have scars.
I hate Hero cause it left me shoulder pain and it was rattly and just through u about like you were in a tumble dryer 😣😣! Personally from my one ride on the ultimate I found it alright so yh! Great video as always Dan!! I think you should ride grand national all day if it reaches 500 likes 😂
Each to their own, but I like insane coasters and LOVED The Ultimate. The profiling on the insane turns isn't bad, I found it smooth actually on those nuts turns - but the turns whilst not bumpy or rickety are just way too tight and / or not banked enough for the speed, so the laterals were the most intense in the world when operating. Maybe not too good for you that ha, but I used to ride at the front and put my hands up so I could experience the laterals at their fullest. The second turn would literally bend my back sideways, as it tried to rip me out of the train with EXTREME force... and I loved it. Next day I'd drive round a roundabout and feel the twinge in my back haha.. but it was worth it, 'cause as I say, I like my coasters to be insane... This one is in my top 20, just because it's so unique. The Beast at Kings Island has similar laterals after the second drop, loved that too - but still nowhere near as crazy!
The first time I went on Hero as a child I felt like I was going to fall out. Then a few hours after I’d gotten off the ride, I had a massive bruise on my arm. Definitely not a fun experience haha
I went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the first time recently, and my first ride on Big One was at the very back row and it was truly awful. Not much airtime at all, it was super shaky. At times, more shaky than Infusion! And every transition was a nasty jolt. Even the retracked parts were janky. But the drop at the back… oh my God. Probably the worst part of the whole ride! I know it’s an Arrow, and I know it’s old, but man. One of the worst coaster experiences I’ve ever had. However, when I got a re-ride in the front, it was 100 times better! Still janky but a lot better! I even felt some small pops of airtime here and there. TL;DR: Big One is rough in the back, but is okay in the front in my opinion.
Second to back row is the best imo. Noticeably less janky, but you can feel some airtime when it's actually running well. Then again, it depends what trains they're running, the weather... Big One's a very inconsistent ride, but when it delivers, it delivers.
My ribs hurt for days after riding the back seat on Dipper back in about 2008. I've only been on Grand National once, as it was shut on my other two visits.
I personally hates rush from thorpe park as they don't have shoulder support, only lap support. And for me this scares the shit out of me as a early teen coz I did not like air time when there was nothing over my shoulder. 😬😬
Good morning Dan was great seeing you and having a few rides Saturday at Thorpe Park (Tidal Wave and Swarm, yesterday i had 4 back to back rides on the back row) ahh it's a shame about Grand National, Big Dipper and Infusion, actually Infusion was my 1st coaster of 2022 back at White knuckle weekends, hopefully Grand National should be a lot better after its retracking, I'm hoping to get Saturdays Thorpe Park vlog out as soon as possible
@@twistedcoasters1533 as a skinny teenager the standing airtime was the scariest experience I’ve had on a coaster (second is breaking down on the Thirteen drop track, I knew how safe it is but, anywhere else would have been better).
I love grand national!! We actually try and time when we enter the queue to make sure we get the purple car on the right hand side track because of how fast it is 😂😂
Every seat on the grand national is rough... its a bruising, bone-shaking experience. Infusion is my favourite Blackpool ride, I have ridden it until my brain hurts.
Grand National should definitely be better now it's retracked. Also with most woodies you want to avoid seats that are on top of the wheels as thats where you'll be taking in all the impact
You gotta love Grand National. First time I got on it (1999) I honestly thought it was going to come off the tracks. Never laughed so much in my life! 😆
Nah cause you’re absolutely correct. I go to flamingo land every year, have done since I was tiny, and since the hero’s been there I go on once every time I go 😭💀 always regret it. I’m sure The Big Dipper at Blackpool ripped my rotator cuffs but tbh could’ve been any of them 🤕
Went Blackpool last week and can confirm that the National & Dipper are still janky as ever and honestly I felt like I had been ripped in half, now lets talk about the big one... that ride is AWFUL 😅
Mine is collosus because since im so short I sit just below the soft pads so Im just like BANG BANG BANG, yet im sitting here wearing a cap of it right now
The grand national is great if you go with friends because you think your mostly flipping each other off. The big dipper makes you wanna go see a chiropractor
Personally I think Vampire at Chessington is uncomfortable, because of the new shoulder restraints installed by Vekoma in 2002. I mean had they kept the old Arrow trains then it would actually be a good ride.
I hated infusion... am sure it bashed my brain against my skull a few times! Thought it would be good like Nemesis and Odyssey, never been on anything so rough... It gave me a headache! 😵💫
The ultimate was the first ever rollercoaster I went on and because I had nothing to compare it to I thought it was great😭 Infusion however smacked my head about so much that all of my ear piercings started bleeding, one of them still hasn’t recovered after 2 years, genuinely the only time i have ever wanted to get off a rollercoaster before the end💀
Completely agree with this list, I'm yet to go on Hero and Ultimate though but can't say I'm excited for them. The day infusion goes, ill be taking a picnic and watching it be torn down crying happy tears
Grand National and Big Dipper are two of my favourite coasters of all time, although Nash in the back row is quite painful. However, I've heard it's smoother since the retrack.
Never done hero. I say that like it’s a bad thing, it’s obviously not. Infusion is my least favorite ride but the roughest single experience is the bottom of grand nationals first drop. I was not prepared for that. And I was on the front, so at the back, I can’t even imagine
Grand national couldbt wait to go on pretty much all the time after the lift hill im out my seat so rough the i believe i can fly song definatly describes this rife
If you went to Scotland to M&Ds and ride Tornado it would've not came CLOSE to this list. It is SO good, intense and smooth 😍. No it is just a rough piece of ship that has disgraced Scotland's rollercoaster lineup ever since its opening to its closing and it has stupid restraints and trains.
Controversional Opinion: I actually like the SLCs, sure the restraints are bad, but if you look past that, you will find an intense layout, with great inversions. That's fair enough! When I do have a smooth-ish ride it is quite good but personally haven't enjoyed it much at all over the years! Completely understand what you mean though! 🔥
I completely agree with the blackpool ones if you get a seat on the GN that happens to be on one of the wheels it's rough as hell and infusion I think would be fantastic if it wasn't so head bangy I remember seeing it for the the first time and thinking that looks really good but yeah as you said its very head bangy and yeah I did ride them both again after the first time us adrenaline junkies are masochists I swear 😆
