More weight and more power with a smaller life span=Sthil. Slightly less power, more control less vibration with a longer life span=Husqvarna. My dad was a logger, he had his Husqvarna chainsaws for 26 years, 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week for 26 years. Now a modern Husqvarna is expected to last 9-12 years. Seems like they're trying to be like the Chinese and make everything cheap.
Yes, I agree, Husqvarna saws are smoother while weighing less while producing a steady amount of healthy power, while Sthil, weighs more, less safety features, more power and harder to maneuver. But Professional loggers are using Sthil and replacing the whole saw every 2-4 years. While Husqvarna will last at least 6 years using it hard, every day for 6 years. But typically, modern Husqvarna Saws, will last around 9-12 years like you said. If you're a farm owner, and only using a Husqvarna for an hour or so every couple of days. The saw could last 20 years. The biggest key to make something last is to simply.......[Take care of it]
The Husqvarna 435 has a 40.9cc engine that outputs 2.2 HP. It's X-torq engine makes it smoother while consuming less fuel, while weighing under 10 LBS. The Sthil MS 170 has a 30.1cc engine, that outputs I believe 1.7 HP at 12.98 LBS if i remember correctly. So, Husqvarna=less weight slightly less power, more comfortable while consuming less fuel. All Sthil is known for is more power/more weight/less control. And Sthil has a lower life span than Husqvarna.

After using them both side by side, which saw do you prefer
