  • The Sumatran Tiger's unbelievable climb to eat dinner. Acute sight and hearing enable the tiger to be an efficient predator, as seen here at the Great Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo NSW. Critically endangered, the tiger inhabits the Indonesian island of Sumatra, with an estimated population of no more than 680 animals.

      Tiger is a better hunter and fighter than a lion, but the main reason (my guess) why the Lion is called the King is coz of their social system wherein they live in prides with a dominant Male, other males may also be part of the pride, but heirearchy wise there would be one dominant male. The dominant male mostly doesn't go on smaller hunts such as a Kudus, Wildebeest, even Zebras. The food is brought to him. In other words will come to eat as soon as the hunt is made. The dominant male gets to eat first and or gets the best pieces such as the organs. Now it doesn't mean the Lion is lazy and just hatches eggs all day. No, it will lead when a bigger and tougher prey needs to be taken down such as Buffaloes, Giraffes, even Elephants. It's like dont bother me if it's just a Wildebeest or an Antelope, just go get the food. Isn't that reminiscent of a King's behavior. The don't go out and fight all the small little battles, but when things really do matter they lead from the front. Secondly, the most important reason I feel is the role of a Lion majorly is to protect the pride and it's off springs from other male Lions, in other words Challengers to the throne. The moment a successful challenge is made the challenger goes and kills all the little cubs and then mates with the Lionesses as soon as she's ready to mate (in other words goes on heat). This again is similar to how kings behaved in the past, they attack another Kingdom with an objective to take it over completely, kill the king and in most cases marry the queens or keep them as their mistresses. So these similarities are the reason why they are called the king of the Jungle. Of course it is the apex predator in the African savannahs, but that's not the only reason. Tigers are the apex predators of the Indian Jungles and Siberia. Some large males, especially Siberian tigers and some Royal Bengal Tigers, can be huge and have the power and fighting style to take down a male lion. Good that they don't often get to meet each other in the wild.

      Zeeshan Akbar Put a Lion on a 5000m mountain in the Himalayas. He will die in a few hours of cold or shortness of breath. Try to make a Lion swim for 10 km trying to cross a river in the Amazon rainforest. He won’t even get in the water . Everything depends on how well you adapt to the environment dude, nothing in this world has superpowers!

    • @kouboi9500
      @kouboi9500 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zeeshan Akbar Most of the Lions don’t have a very comfortable life. They’re constantly defending their territory against another males, fighting Hyenas, Leopards and avoiding poachers. Younger Lions have to hunt to survive. Only a few Lions are “kings” as you said and these generally defend a small territory or live in a region where there are no enemies.

    • @kouboi9500
      @kouboi9500 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jancy Varghese Apart from cold, he probably would die from shortness of breath. If didn’t, he would fall to death as only smaller and more agile animals can walk through the mountains. You can’t argue that a Lion is capable of surviving in such conditions.

    • @kouboi9500
      @kouboi9500 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jancy Varghese Lions always avoid water. They would only get inside for hunting or in a desperate situation. They’re good swimmers for a cat, but not as good as a Tiger or a Jaguar that lives in a rainforest, so they wouldn’t swim for very long distances.

    I saw one leap up a pole at a zoo in the UK. Probably about the same height but was even more insane than this. It pounced up the thing like fucking Spider-Man, and didn’t climb back down, it literally leaped like 4 meter drop to the floor like it was a 15lb house cat. There wasn’t even any of that scratching grip attached. It was just bare wood.
