    Absolutely fascinating to see how familiar the systems that go into these pond setups are. The basin is functionally a sump, the skimmer is basic mechanical filtration, bio-fall is exactly the same as any other bag of bio media in an indoor tank..just awesome. Can't wait to see how yours turns out Jennie!

    I am so excited for this project!! I built a (very small) fish pond in my yard this past summer and it was a lot of fun and a big learning experience. it is such a joy to have a pond, it completely transformed the look and feel of my yard and I found myself spending so much more time outdoors, which was really great. I cannot wait to see videos detailing the pond build. One piece of advice: Go as big as you possibly can. Everything I have read, and my own experience, says that everyone's biggest regret of their pond build is not making it just a little bit bigger. My dad is already mentally planning size upgrades for it.

    Depends really. Personally, it's a ton of hard labor, but it's well worth it. I had to plan, dig and scape my pond all by myself. It's 600 gallons with a depth of 3 different levels. 2 ft on the left, 3ft in the middle and 1ft on the right. While housing 18 types of fish and 2 types of water lilies. So far, its been running strong for 1 year now.

    Super random, but what fish would you recommend for a college dorm?

    • @heartofblackfire7550
      @heartofblackfire7550 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've actually been wondering the same thing. I'm considering Betta, but on the other hand I feel bad about solitary confinement of a fish and feel like that might be cruel. On the other hand, goldfish might not be suited for a college dorm and the tank size I have.

    So if you are going to have an outdoor koi pond, are you keeping the one in the gallery? What if you did the outside one a turtle pond and the indoor one koi or vise versa? Im really curious

    ????????? I have two large regular goldfish I should pumpkin Blackmore in a fancy tail fish in my 55 gallon fish tank. My question is can I put small rocks in there or would they eat them and maybe swallow one? The fish are about 8 to 10 inches long from mouth to the tip of the tails.

    Oh by the way my 2 year old granddaughter is you biggest fan. I have to put you on she wants to see her Jenny and gold fishies and likes your cats. I used to be a wholesaler back in the 80s of goldfish and koi. I'm just now starting to get back into them by doing aquaponics. And she has to feed those fish first, thing so much fun.

    Definitely not the time of year to dig a pond here in Wisconsin. The ground doesn't stay very soft when it turns to ice.

    Will you put Kois for the pond? That opens new possibilities for other fish for your 2300 gal 👀
