We’ve had issues with our HOA, who got really bent out of shape when we refused their attempts to single us out over a purported rule infraction (something that was pervasive in the neighborhood). The board only “took action” when someone made an “official complaint” about it, in writing. Finally, a Facebook friend who is a lawyer in another state offered to review the matter (free of charge!) ♥️ and wrote the HOA board a scathing letter just dripping with sarcastic legalese, telling them they hadn’t a leg to stand on, finishing with “Have a nice day.” 😁 Naturally, that was throwing gasoline on the fire, and the HOA lawyer sent us a certified letter chock-full of hot air and threats of dire consequences for us if we didn’t bow to their demands and threats. We weren’t going to impose on our lawyer friend’s kindness a second time, so we hired a local attorney who specialized in real estate matters. After reviewing the rule we purportedly had violated, he found that there was no such rule anywhere in the neighborhood covenant! Everyone, including us, had assumed the rule existed, because that rule existed in most high-end subdivisions. When our lawyer contacted the HOA attorney and informed him that the rule didn’t exist, he admitted that he himself hadn’t thoroughly read the 60-page neighborhood covenant! Oh yes…the “rule” we had so flagrantly violated? Having a small utility trailer in our driveway which could be seen from the road. This despite the fact that we found 39 other homes with trailers clearly visible from the road, everything from small utility trailers like ours, to full-sized RVs (think Winnebago-style), to outboard motor boats on trailers, and everything in between. Three homes even had more than one trailer! I took photos of the other “violations”, with addresses attached, and sent them to the HOA board and their lawyer. A month later, the board informed us that they “probably” would not take action against us, as long as we signed a non disclosure agreement. Fat chance of that, lol! That was two years ago, and we haven’t heard a peep from them since. It’s amazing what some people will do when they get even the smallest amount of power…or what they THINK is power.
The HOA story is a common one. A new HOA president is elected and becomes power-hungry. They attempt to enforce excessive rules on both HOA members and non-members alike. Eventually, they overstep, leading to legal troubles, fines, and sometimes even jail time. Typically, they are voted out due to their actions, ostracized for what they've done, sell their home, and leave the area.
Wish I knew why it seems so common that the people in charge of HOAs constantly have seemingly no idea that any "authority" they have has limits, specifically to homes actually /part/ of their association, and stops dead outside of those areas, and even in those areas the authority is generally limited to what's been agreed upon, and they can't just make shit up on the fly.
I'm glad I didn't get a house in a location where an HOA isn't likely to ever form, because in my state of NC, if an HOA gets over 60% of signatories in a given area, all the rest are members whether they like it or not. However, they can't make any rules going against state law.
The 47 year old cna 20 years experience, that has only been at your facility 2 weeks is there because she was fired from last facility for the verbal abuse and altercation she just pulled on you that is a strict NO NO in nursing home. Watched several get fired at local nursing home for that attitude.
First story: All of that had the word lawsuit written all over the place. First, the teachers don't givnig liancy to a dissable kid. Second, the school staff not accomodating a kid with special needs. And third and last, showing clear abelism with that comment and the bogus ground for expulsion. A weird address is not grounds for expulsion.
the principal and VP were just aholes, and could not be bothered with being accomidating or humane,i can't wait for the day when they are so old and in poor health that they have to use a walker.
Actually, if you don't live in the school district, you need to go to the district you live in. So sadly, that was legit grounds for expulsion, and could have gotten the parents in trouble. This is to enforce racial and socioeconomic discrimination by forcing poor and minority students into their terrible local schools, and excluding them from safe, clean, wealthy WASP suburban schools.
@MarkStockman It always amazes me how some people can always find a reason to bring race and classism into a situation. Even if the situation has nothing to do with race or classism. What's really hilarious about your comment is that the side of the political aisle that you are probably a card carrying member of is the same side of the aisle that contains groups that are most vehemently against school choice. As an example the NEA.
You wouldn't believe how angry my teachers were when they got the doctor's note that I have a teeny tiny bit of brain damage- just enough to mess up my fine motor control wiring. No matter how much they punished me, no matter how many pages of drill writing they assigned me, no matter how much they marked down my grades for poor penmanship (this was the '80s) my handwriting was never going to get faster or better. They were personally offended that they couldn't assign me drill writing any more, couldn't grade my assignments on penmanship, and had to accept typewritten reports. They got theirs back by refusing to accept my typewritten work unless it was perfect. If I missed a keystroke and had to fix it (with correc-type or correcting fluid) they refused to accept it. They even accused me of having my mother type out my work. If it was my work, why the F did that matter? The principal at the time was about as much use as the proverbial teats on a rain barrel, so. . .
All schools in the United States are required by federal law to comply with the Americans with disabilities act of 1990 failure to do can result in investigations and sanctions.
that text so people with hearing disabilities can read what is going on get off your high horse and stop being so entitled 'if you don't like reading the test just cover the screen just because you have perfect hearing and can see doesn't mean everyone is the same
Ffs can you start putting the title story first that's what I'm interested in. If you peak my interest I'll stay till but if it have to skip to find it I'll find a different video to listen to.
So you were too lazy to pack your own lunch and you had to go walk down the stairs with a walker, you knew you were going to get hurt what did you do did you do that on purpose so you can make money and now you got two innocent guys fired because of your stupidity😮
you call the principal and vice principal innocent far from innocent they knew about the students condition yet went against the disability act and allowed the student to hurt himself admittedly he was stupid enough to try navigate the stairs without help but they put him in that situation they deserve to have been fired for their incompetence these two probably also probably turn blind eyes to bullying as well
The lawyer for the hoa must have told them they didn't have a leg to stand on and advised them to settle out of court.
🎉ppl😢ni
For once a smart laywer.

CNA: I will respect you when you are respectable. So far your attitude says that will be never.
Love your story lineup
HOA: Just another example that HOAs should be outlawed.

Okay, TR, I'm gonna have to comment on the title. It's never that they don't know what is in or out of the HOA. They don't care. Trust me on this one.
so it takes an lawsuit to do the right thing in america, what a country i want to live there so much.
Normally, it doesn't. 99% people and places are reasonable.
Lawsuits are to keep the 1% in check.
We have the Americans with Disability Act. A set of laws protecting the rights of disabled.
I pick one and paint that fence in every shade of that color

@@MarkStockman-b4j basically, a racist snoby power play.
@@MarkStockman-b4j It varies by state but you don't need to go in the district you live in. But you need approval from the school boards.

I love how homeowners associations think anything they see is under their domain

it sucks to have to wait for the title story
Any chance you’ll ever edit these so your AI doesn’t choke over all the abbreviations making it sound so stupid?
HI
Title story fake. Sunny Sides Estates and Karen = Regular names in fake stories.
It's almost as if they're placeholder names cause reddit forbids real names for privacy reasons...
Turn off the fucking text display, it gets half the words wrong anyway
