- Come and spend 2 Days in New York with me, Travel Blog Jamie! I arrive into New York in style, onboard Cunard Queen Mary 2, docking in Brooklyn, before taking a transfer to my hotel, the Hilton Midtown, Manhattan, where'll I'll be spending the night. Over the 2 days I’ll show you my accommodation, how I travelled around Manhattan, my experience on the 86th and 102nd floors of the Empire State Building, a sobering look at the 9/11 memorial and museum, an evening harbour cruise to Liberty Island, my favourite pizzeria in the world, evening drinks, a stroll around Central Park and much more. All this accompanied by my New Yorker friend, Cindy, who comes on this adventure with me and sees ground zero for the first time since witnessing the attacks on 9/11. All this plus my journey to JFK airport and flight home to London with Virgin Atlantic.

Wow - watching this video not only brought back memories of an absolutely incredible weekend of touristing with Jamie, but I also experienced it with a new perspective - the usual one of being a fan watching the latest vlog! I want to thank Jamie and everyone else for the wonderfully kind comments on my guest starring role. It was really quite unexpected and made an already special experience even more special.

Brought back some great memories, I took Melissa in 2006 for 5 days in December we had a great time . Yellow taxi from JFK was so exciting as was my first view of the Brooklyn bridge.

Loved visiting New York with you. I went there 6 months after it happened. I definitely want to go back to see the memorial. It started out as a great day for our family as my nephew was born on that day.

Love NY and added ESB to visit, I was like you thinking you had to see ESB from an observation deck. The edge is great especially the glass floor. I also have Angelos added to visit so thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks so much for the kind words. And talking about drink prices - even as a native New Yorker, I was scandalized by how much even a regular sized coffee cost at the hotel (just under $6.00).

It looked like you had an awesome time, Cindy is a star. We went on the Aurora USA & Canada cruise last September (Ocean view cabin) & Loved the whole experience, doing all of the touristy things. Hopefully we will do the same again next year.

That was a fab watch ... Cindy was lovely 😊 ... on my bucket list was to walk across the brooklyn Bridge. I got to do it when we flew out for an east coast cruise on princess. Like you we didn't have long enough in new york, but, as you say , it's an excuse to go back one day 😊 x

So nervous about my trip as we cruising to New York be there for 3 days, doing some excursions with the cruise line but trying to get ideas on what else to do. Im a solo traveller any tips?
Have you watched this vlog and the one where I was in New York for 2 days last summer? I filmed everything just did in New York including where I ate / menus plus how to get around.

If anybody is visiting New York and doesn't have an awesome Cindy to show them around, I can thoroughly recommend Big Apple Greeters. They use locals who volunteer their time to show tourists the real NYC. Our guide was superb, there is no way we'd have seen half of what he showed us on our own.

Fantastic! I did the Marella Discovery with an overnight in New York last summer after watching your video. I'd love to try a short stay in NYC, but not sure about doing it as a solo- would want to know more about the hotel package and if other people from the ship stay in the same hotel.
They do - they were all on the transfer to that one hotel
It looks like you had an absolute blast! We are going in 2025 and will make sure to do the top of the Empire State Bldg after seeing you do it!

We spent 5 nights in New York 16 years ago, took horse and carriage ride through central park to Strawberry Fields, my mum persuaded our female carriage driver to take us for double the fare of the shorter normal trip, was amazing, unfortunately ground Zero was just rubble, very sobering

Brought tears to my eyes - my first cruise was on original QE2 and flew to New York with an overnight stay and remember the twin towers vividly -so sad and couldn’t believe what happened x

What is the location you most enjoy in NYC?
No one favourite place
Stayed in the Hilton Midtown myself last November when I was in the city for the New York City Marathon. Yes, perhaps it was a little tired in places, but overall thought it was super. Great location, great big room which was comfortable and quiet. Only thing I didn’t like was the silly ‘resort fee’ which was added to my stay. Was like $30 per day, but you could use the credit in the hotel bars etc.
That was taken care of by Cunard

❤ seeing you and Cindy touring NYC! Gotta love our New Yorker accent 😂…. I have never visited Empire State Building as well, I guess being from there we done think it necessary. But it is beautiful and fab views, maybe one day. I had to fast forward when you were in the 9/11 museum because I work downtown when the event happened. Saw everything from our window and it’s still emotional to see. I walk by the outside memorial all the time but seeing pictures of the actual event is 😢😢😢… Also, I really have to go and try that pizza! Hope you had loads of fun, looked like you did! ❤Debbie
