Girl ik im so late 🤣 but I start training tomorrow as general merchandise (also closer) and this was sooo helpful. Any additional tips or advice? I’m so nervous to use the zebras I’ve never worked retail before
I’m glad my video helped 🩵 the zebra is easy to catch onto so don’t worry about using it. You’ll get used to using it very fast within your first few days because you’ll use it so much 😂. As for tips I would say not to rush if you aren’t on a time limit because I would clean and stock reshop so fast & be sooo bored 😭 also customers might get on your nerves sometimes because you’ll clean/organize something and it’d be messed up within a few mins but that’s just apart of the job. Yes they definitely give more hours around holidays. I worked there during Christmas season lol and they scheduled me like 6 days in a row it was horrible.

congrats !! getting your first job is def nerve wracking but this job was really chill & I do recommend it ! It isn’t hard at all so you’ll adjust quickly. Good luck!

For those who dont like interacting with guest or others where would you suggest them to work?
There isn’t a lot of guest interaction but people will most likely ask you where something is, that’s it.

No, it’s just general merchandise. Team leader is a manager position.
Would this position be good for 16yo with school in session but closing times?
it’s a lot harder getting hired when you’re under 18 but if you can, absolutely go for it. It’s very simple, you’re just shopping but it does take physical work (climbing ladders, pushing vehicles, walking, carrying things, etc.)
i wouldn't recommend closing times if you're a student.

Yes! I no longer work here because I was a seasonal employee but I did enjoy it.
Hello is General Merchandise Expert is it the same as your position in the video or what does that position involve doing? & is there cashiering involved cuz I’m worried about that🙃
General merchandise involves stocking and some reshopping. There isn’t any cashiering so you don’t have to worry about that unless your store trains you for whenever it’s busy but that’s unlikely.

As a General merchandiser did you only pull and push items along with zoning and back stocking? Did you ever have to do pogs etc...?pogs
No I didn’t have to do pogs! As a merchandiser we just put reshop back on the correct shelf and made sure the shelves were organized/clean.
I wanted to ask I got hired like 3 days ago and wanted to know if you could wear anything as long as it’s red ? Even if it has writing on it ? I wasn’t sure if my store could be different or not
Yes you can wear any shirt/hoodie as long as it’s red and maroon counts as well. Any jean color or khaki pants.

No, they never put me on register. They did say we were supposed to get cross trained but they never had time to do it. I think it’ll depend on the store.

Is this the best department?
I only worked in this department so I can’t speak for others but this position was very chill. Anything is better than cashier lol. Customers didn’t bother that much either.

How long were your hours as a general merchandise expert closing ?
8 hour shifts, 5 days a week so 40 hrs total. When I first started they were like 5-6 hours.
When the shift starts and ends as a closing expert?
It’ll end at 10 or 11pm and when it starts depends on your availability.
Would this job get lonely or boring
I wouldn’t say lonely but you’re definitely working by yourself most of the time. I get bored of things when they’re repetitive lol, so I would say it was boring only because I wish they switched up departments once in a while for us to zone.

Closing hours. Usually it’d be 2 or 3PM till 11PM.

No I don’t, sorry.
I was a style consultant. It was usually anything between 3-7 hour shifts unless in a needed situation you volunteer to stay later
