Thanks for the video. I have 2 snowblowers that are the same and one had been in storage and ran when it went in. The other was setting in the garage, ran but need a drive rebuild. So pulled the one in storage out for use knowing that It would need a carb cleaning or more for the winter. Tried and tried but had no spark so I just swapped engines. So I started searching for the problem read about the magnet problem, then found your video. One of the magnets had came loose and stuck to the other one but my problem was there was not one noticeable mark on the flywheel to tell me where the magnet may of been. So with luck 2 matching snowblowers with matching engines, pulled the working flywheel set them next to each other, measured it and after (a much needed cleaning) JB Welded it back on. Cant even tell it ever came off by look and sound.

So i couldnt find my JB weld i used krazy glue to glue the one magnet back on that had came off.And bingo i now have spark. As far as where to glue it on i just glued it about the width of the magnet from the one magnet that stayed attached to the fly wheel..Couldnt find an actual measurement anywhere as far as the distance between the two but it works now.It had sat for years so i couldnt see where it used to be.So it is either not that critical or i got lucky.Perhaps a bit of both. Thanks for the vid saved some money here not buying points condenser or coil.Have a great day

    what is JB weld

It's a two part epoxy that you mix together.

Those old machines seem to be notorious for this, I had the same problem with the magnets
coming loose. I removed the fly wheel and then secured the magnets using a tube of two parts epoxy.

could you show the steps to get the flywheel next time?

Yes, expoy is usually used to hold them in. I have seen it before on other things. Old snowmobiles were where I found this to be true. Age has a thing with epoxy. The fact that the points may have failed and caused a back fire in the engine will knock the living hell out of things. I do not ever recommend using either to start a machine because its too hot and causes back firing and premature firing of the charge in the cylinder, especially on a hot engine. This causes the piston to brake suddenly, shearing the fly wheel key or worse jarring those magnets off. Seen it many times on old snowmobiles. I did that to my first snow blower as well.

how to adjust coil inside flywheel?

Great video. just my problem. But, is there a proper position to put the magnets on the flywheel? How far apart. When I took the flywheel off the magnets where attached to the ends of the armature so I do not know where they were on the flywheel. Thanks

+Dino Marchesini I was able to see the previous locations based on the color of the metal. Old exposed metal was dark while the metal under the magnets was clean and light colored. I still had to guess a little but it worked. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful. Thanks for watching.

Either unbolt with air impact (3/4" nut) or Electric impact (Automotive type with 1/2" drive.) Put the nut on flush crankshaft and rap it with a 1-3 lb hammer. Usually will fall off after 2ond good hit. (They do sell flywheel holding tool but with an impact tool not necessary anymore. I hope this helps. I think Donnyboy73 may have a youtube video on this too.
