One of my favorite lines from the show, when the lead girl isn't allowed we're a Jacket instead of her uniform but, the other girl shows up wearing a jacket and says "Well I'm not going to be individual on my own!" Haha Just how innocent it is is so funny!

One of my favorite lines from the show was Orla offering the guy the cigarette lighter, “I don’t smoke either, I just like melting stuff.”
Keep eyes open in season 3 I noticed she does the most wacky stuff in the background, including with her lighter and hair 🤣
I consider that really good character introduction. It’s funny as a bonus. Like “this isn’t Nam, it’s bowling, there are rules”. Those kind of lines let you know where the character’s head is and you can infer a backstory.

It's really good to see such a successful female lead comedy as there's such a stereotype/sexisum saying women aren't funny and it pisses me off as it's just so untrue I mean look at this show it's all women (except the wee gay fella) and it's hilarious!
I have never come across a female comedian that i find funny but i find this series hilarious! Reminds me of our own upbringing without the civil war

I mean I absolutely loved the show and I didn't think it could get any better. But the cast, god! Apart from being phenomenal actors, their chemistry is so natural and magnetic. You really end up wishing you were friends with them, in and out of character.
The freshest and funniest show in the last two decades. Every character is brilliant; nothing superfluous. Lisa McGee must be a genius.
Bring on Season 3! We need more Sister Michael!

Derry Girls is the most fun, engaging and entertaining show I have seen in years. We do not have many shows like this these days. The actors/characters are phenomenal. So disappointed that there are no more seasons. This was my go to show especially after a hard/bad day. This show always cheers me up and makes me laugh with many nice moments too.

I don't think Nicola is much like Clare irl. But I do think she has a tendency to lean into a character when she is around the cast.

It might be nice to have a famous actor but tbh the characters on the show already are some of the best & so easy to love. All of them bring something to the table.

@@ukfriendtoall7435 that has nothing to do with gender lol, he's shy, most of the girls aren't thats why, even with that many woemn if he was an extrovert and the girls introvert ypu would hear him more, it has to do with personnality
Derry girls is totally my favourite show! A show about teens growing up amidst the troubles of northern Ireland really shouldn't be soo funny but it simply adds to the herality of the teens growing pains
I didn't watch Derry Girls on TV. After seeing an extract, I watched the whole two series back to back. It isn't just the situations which are hilarious but some of the throw away lines had me in stitches. I was watching them on the computer while my wife was asleep and I had a terrible job not to burst out laughing out loud. Thank you for writing such a brilliant series. Please do series 3 and more.

Stumbled upon a video of Sister Micheals best parts on Facebook and quickly went down the rabbit hole
I just discovered the dairy girls during the pandemic and it might have saved my life, along with a lot of other comedy shows. But as a 63-year-old Irish American man working as a nurse in a large Urban hospital in the Midwest, this show has made my wife and I laugh so much to the point of tears.. I think we watched every show at least two times and finally season 3 came out on Netflix!

Me too and I'm a 63-year-old Irish American man living in the Midwest... my wife and I love the show and it has kept me sane through the pandemic while working overtime shifts as a nurse at a large Urban hospital. When season 3 just showed up on Netflix we watched almost all the shows in a row and I've never done that before!
Michelle grew on me later on in the series, but I have to say, out of all the one liners she had, my favorite one was from the last season when they were practicing their Spice Girls routine and she goes ' And what the fuck are you doing Claire? The haka?'
As a Maori from New Zealand I freakn loved this line & laughed my head off.

Orla is my favorite character
Just gotten into the show. I'm loving it so far. I'm half Irish and most of my dads family are from Northern Ireland. I love this. Gotta love the Irish people 😀 🇮🇪

I love the we-uns (wains, whatever), and Granda Joe and damn .... Uncle Colm! He must be a clone of a friend of mine because my friend, bless him, ... he can hang with Uncle Colm any day on the talk-yer-ear-off-and-swap-topics-on-a-dime thing. I've actually had to say "Can I just stop ya for a minute?" to him --- just like Mary Quinn did to Colm.

Agreed it shouldn’t have been said, but I can see how he probably wasn’t aware that this sort of thing is more personal (nowadays everyone’s very open - maybe not where they are though perhaps), and was simply trying to get in a word and be part of the interview. He was trying to play into the story but didn’t realise perhaps and you can see he’s truly embarrassed for revealing that later - his intention wasn’t to harm or oust :)
