The best way is to record track vocals raw. This way you can have more control over what you want to do with the recording. Also, if you add effects meanwhile recording, this can use up more resources from your computer, which can generate more lag in the audio

Hmm, what about setting the Attack higher than 2ms? Especially for rap vocals, higher attack means you can hear the consonants better and they "pop" more. Just a lil bit, maybe around 5ms? Release needs to be short tho for a better enuncuation effect. Oh and thanks! My mix sounds much better now!

After - in my opinion the best decisison. But monitor it while you recording giving you best performance I think. Then you put on after recorded (you already know what tune you need to get the result while recording) but still can go in depth and give it more or less.
Would of been nice to have a before and after. Also, since you are already mostly there, why not do reverb to share a solid rough draft of the mix? Good video and tips. Also, you can slap another compressor on there. Vocals are highly dynamic and can handle it. I liked how you didn't do a crazy ratio. 2-4 is the sweet spot for sure. Mixing was good. Keep it up!

Thanks man! I'm not too familiar with audio effect rack for ableton since I'm not an ableton user, but I do know that using StudioRack will help with latency when applying these vocal chains, not to mention it helps with keeping your mixer slots clean and organized. Hope that still helps!
It works with some of the presets included, but not all. There's a list of all the plugins needed on the product page in order for the vocal preset to work.
